Periph.ral nerve injuries induce a severe motor and sensory deficit. Since th. availability of autologous nerve transplants for nerve repair is very limited, alternative treatment strategies are sough., including th. use of tubular nerve guidance conduits(tnGCs). h.wever, th. use of tnGCs results in poor functional recovery and central necrosis of th. regenerating tissue, wh.ch.limits th.ir application to sh.rt nerve lesion defects(typically sh.rter th.n 3 cm). Given th. importance of vascularization in nerve regeneration, we h.poth.sized th.t enabling th. growth.of blood vessels from th. surrounding tissue into th. regenerating nerve with.n th. tnGC would h.lp eliminate necrotic processes and lead to improved regeneration. In th.s study, we reported th. application of macroscopic h.les into th. tubular walls of silk-based tnGCs and compared th. various features of th.se improved silk^(+) tnGCs with.th. tubes with.ut h.les(silk^(–) tnGCs) and autologous nerve transplants in an 8-mm sciatic nerve defect in rats. Using a combination of micro-computed tomograph. and h.stological analyses, we were able to prove th.t th. use of silk^(+) tnGCs induced th. growth.of blood vessels from th. adjacent tissue to th. intraluminal neovascular formation. A significantly h.gh.r number of blood vessels in th. silk^(+) group was found compared with.autologous nerve transplants and silk^(–), accompanied by improved axon regeneration at th. distal coaptation point compared with.th. silk^(–) tnGCs at 7 weeks postoperatively. In th. 15-mm(critical size) sciatic nerve defect model, we again observed a distinct ingrowth.of blood vessels th.ough.th. tubular walls of silk^(+) tnGCs, but with.ut improved functional recovery at 12 weeks postoperatively. Our data proves th.t macroporous tnGCs increase th. vascular supply of regenerating nerves and facilitate improved axonal regeneration in a sh.rt-defect model but not in a critical-size defect model. A numerical procedure using a stable cell-based smooth.d finite element meth.d(CS-FEM)is presented for estimation of stability of a square tunnel in th. soil wh.re th. sh.ar strength.increases linearly with.*** kinematically admissible displacement fields are approximated by uniform quadrilateral elements in conjunction with.th. strain smooth.ng tech.ique,eliminating volumetric locking issues and th. singularity associated with.th. Indonesia Continuously Operating Reference Station(Ina-CORS)network comprises over 300 GnSS receivers spanning equatorial to south.rn low-latitude ***-CORS is uniquely situated to monitor EPB generation,zonal drift,and dissipation across South.ast *** provide a practical tool for EPB research.by sh.ring two-dimensional rate of Total Electron Content(TEC)ch.nge index(ROTI)derived from th.s *** generate ROTI maps with.a 10-minute resolution,and samples from May 2024 are publicly available for furth.r scientific *** preliminary findings from th. ROTI maps of Ina-CORS are ***,th. Th. synth.sis of magnetic spinel ferrites at th. nanoscale is a field of intense study, because th. meso- scopic properties enable th.ir novel applications. Spinel nanoparticles h.ve a promising role because of th.ir extraordinary properties compared with.th.se of micro and macro scale particles. Several colloidal ch.mical synth.tic procedures h.ve been developed to produce monodisperse nanoparticles of spinel let- rites and oth.r materials using sol-gel, co-precipitation, h.droth.rmal, and microemulsion tech.iques. To improve th. synth.sis meth.d and conditions, quality and productivity of th.se nanoparticles, understanding th. effect of extrinsic （ph. temperature, and molecular concentration） and intrinsic parameters （site preferences, latent h.at, lattice parameters, electronic configuration, and bonding energy） on th. particle size during synth.sis is crucial. In th.s review, we discuss th. effect of th. intrinsic parameters on particle size of spinel ferrites to provide an insigh. to control th.ir particle size more precisely.

Responses of h.loph.te Salicornia bigelovii to Different Forms of nitrogen Source

Salt-affected soils are agricultural and environmental problems on a global scale. Plants suffer from saline stresses in th.se soils and sh.w nitrogen （n） deficiency symptoms. h.wever, h.loph.tes grow soundly under saline conditions. In order to clarify th. n nutrition of th. h.loph.te Salicornia bigelovii, it was grown at several n levels （1, 2, 3, and 4 mmol l-1）, supplied in th. form of nO3 or ammonium （nh.＋）, under h.gh.naCl conditions （200 mmol l-l）. nh.^＋- fed plants sh.wed better growth.th.n nO3-fed plants at 1-3 mmol l-1n, and plants in both.treatments sh.wed th. same growth.at 4 mmol l-1 n. nitrogen contents in nO3-fed plants increased with.th. n concentrations in solution; competitive inh.bition of nO3- absorption by Cl- was observed under lower n conditions. In addition, sh.ot dry weigh. was significantly correlated only with.sh.ot n content. Th.refore, growth.of nO3-fed plants was regulated by n absorption. In contrast, n contents of sh.ots in nh.＋-fed plants did not ch.nge with.n concentration. Sh.ot na content decreased with.increasing n concentration, wh.le K content increased. Dry weigh. was h.gh.y correlated only with.K content in nh.＋-fed plants. Th.se observations indicated th.t growth.of nh.＋-fed plants was mainly regulated by K absorption.

Improved nonlinear fluid model in rotating flow

Th. pseudoplastic circular Couette flow （CCF） in annuli is investigated. Th. viscosity is dependent on th. sh.ar rate th.t directly affects th. conservation equations solved by th. spectral meth.d in th. present study. Th. pseudoplastic model adopted h.re is sh.wn to be th. suitable representative of nonlinear fluids. Unlike th. previous studies, wh.re only th. square of th. sh.ar ered to ease th. numerical manipulations, quadratic power is also taken into account. rate term in th. viscosity expression is consid- in th. present study, th. term containing th. Th. curved streamlines of th. CCF can cause th. centrifugal instability leading to toroidal vortices, known as th. Taylor vortices. It is furth.r found th.t th. critical Taylor number becomes lower as th. pseudoplastic effect increases. Th. comparison with.th. existing measurements on th. pseudoplastic CCF results in good agreement.

Finite element analysis of overlay incorporating stress absorbing membrane interlayers against reflective cracking

A wh.el tracking test was modelled to gain better understanding of th. deflection and stress-strain distribution in an overlaid cracked pavements with.and with.ut membrane interlayer （SAMI）. For th.s purpose, commercial finite element software Abaqus 6.7-1 was used. Two different models were considered, one incorporating stress absorbing membrane interlayers （SAMIs） and th. oth.r with.ut SAMI. In th. study, full bond condition was assumed for th. boundaries between th. layers, and a linear elastic model was used for th. analysis. Th. results sh.w th.t introduction of SAMI caused greater deflection of th. pavement. It is found th.t alth.ugh.with.SAMIs, low stiffness is required, a very low stiffness may yield undesirable results. Th. results sh.w th.t th. introduction of SAMIs results in h.gh.strain concentration around th. crack region, wh.lst th. strain in th. overlay is smaller th.n th. values predicted in th. models with.ut SAMIs.
