A Special Kind of Interplanetary Coronal Mass Ejection

It is generally believed that coronal mass ejections(CMEs) have magnetic flux rope structures because of their helical shapes. However, only about 30%–40% of interplanetary CMEs(ICMEs) have a local magnetic flux rope structure. The usual explanations are that the spacecraft only crossed the flank of the ropes and failed to detect the complete magnetic flux rope structure or that some processes destroyed these magnetic flux rope structures. Several studies suggest that some ICMEs inherently possess disordered magnetic fields and consequently exhibit no magnetic flux-rope structures. We introduce a special kind of ICME which has a low magnetic field magnitude and stable magnetic field direction, relatively fast expansion speed, and lower proton temperature and density. All three of the measured magnetic field components are relatively stable. We want to know whether these ICMEs also have magnetic flux rope structures or not. We identified 20 special ICMEs and analyzed their evolution based on their observed characteristics. We took a special ICME as an example, which had an apparent rope configuration at 1 au but evolved to a special ICME at 5.4 au, to illustrate that this kind of ICME could come from magnetic clouds(MCs) whose rope structure had been being stretched due to expansion. We inferred that the missing obvious flux rope structure may be due to the expansion of MCs, not the flank crossing effect. However, more than 50% of the events were associated with the dominant x-component of the magnetic field, which indicates a leg ***, the detection of part of these special ICMEs may also be the result of the leg-crossing effect.

Natural gas is found in Upper Permian and lower Triassic dolomite reservoirs of the NE Sichuan Basin,China. Studying the mechanisms for porosity-modifying dolomitization and predicting its spatial distribution is of great importance for exploration and field *** core samples from the oolitic lower Triassic Feixianguan Formation and outcrop samples reef carbonate Upper Permian Changxing Formation were studied using cathodoluminescence (Cl),electron microprobe,fluid inclusion and isotope studies(δO,δC and～(87)Sr/～(86)Sr),in an attempt to determine the origin of the dolomitizing *** element and isotope data show that lower Triassic seawater was most likely responsible for dolomitization of both the Permian and Triassic ***/Ca molar ratios, calculated for the diagenetic fluid,suggest seawater was involved in *** isotope data suggest that seawater～(87)Sr/～(86)Sr during the Jialingjiang(lower Triassic) reached 0.7078;this ratio is recorded ubiquitously in both lower Triassic oolitic dolomite and the underlying lower Permian reef *** the Permian Changxing Formation,elevated Triassic～(87)Sr/～(86)Sr values have overprinted the significantly lower～(87)Sr/～(86)Sr ratio characteristic of Upper Permian *** inclusion analysis led to the conclusion that dolomitization must have commenced at a temperature lower than about 50℃.Integrating the sedimentology,petrology and geochemistry data,we conclude that coeval lower Triassic(Feixianguan or slightly younger) seawater caused dolomitization by a reflux-seepage process for both the lower Triassic and Upper Permian *** is no evidence for deep burial or meteoric-marine mixing-zone *** is likely that evaporating seawater initially flowed into the highly porous oolitic Feixianguan Formation in a sabkha/lagoonal setting and precipitated anhydrite nodules and beds. The temporal change of redox conditions of the Yangtze ocean has been revealed by investigating the EdiacaranCambrian transition section at Zhalagou,South *** the earliest Cambrian,cherts and shales were deposited under an anoxic and ferruginous bottom water with significantly increasing total organic carbon and P contents,and negative shift in kerogen δC values in the lowest part of the *** bottom water conditions occurred during the earliest Cambrian Stage 2,with the surface water dominated by N utilization by cyanobacteria or sulphur bacteria leading to negative kerogen δN *** Stage 3,dissolved oxygen and sulphate concentrations were significantly increased,and thus the oxidized surface water and the redox transition zone overlying a euxinic bottom water may have been expanded,resulting in an increase in kerogen δN increasing to 2-4‰,a decrease in pyrite δS decreasing to as low as-24.6‰ and differences in δS values between kerogen and pyrite as high as 37‰.This period coincided with the abrupt appearance of large-body ***,the expanding oxic surface water may have reinforced the evolution of animals or vice ***,kerogen δS values show negative relationships to FePy/FeHR ratios and pyrite sulphur contents,indicating that they can be used to reflect redox conditions,with the lightest values being obtained from euxinic environments.

Pro-resolving lipid mediator reduces amyloid-β42–induced gene expression in human monocyte–derived microglia

Specialized pro-resolving lipid mediators including maresin 1 mediate resolution but the levels of these are reduced in Alzheimer's disease brain, suggesting that they constitute a novel target for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease to prevent/stop inflammation and combat disease pathology. Therefore, it is important to clarify whether they counteract the expression of genes and proteins induced by amyloid-β. With this objective, we analyzed the relevance of human monocyte–derived microglia for in vitro modeling of neuroinflammation and its resolution in the context of Alzheimer's disease and investigated the pro-resolving bioactivity of maresin 1 on amyloid-β42–induced Alzheimer's disease–like inflammation. Analysis of RNA-sequencing data and secreted proteins in supernatants from the monocyte-derived microglia showed that the monocyte-derived microglia resembled Alzheimer's disease–like neuroinflammation in human brain microglia after incubation with amyloid-β42. Maresin 1 restored homeostasis by down-regulating inflammatory pathway related gene expression induced by amyloid-β42 in monocyte-derived microglia, protection of maresin 1 against the effects of amyloid-β42 is mediated by a re-balancing of inflammatory transcriptional networks in which modulation of gene transcription in the nuclear factor-kappa B pathway plays a major part. We pinpointed molecular targets that are associated with both neuroinflammation in Alzheimer's disease and therapeutic targets by maresin 1. In conclusion, monocyte-derived microglia represent a relevant in vitro microglial model for studies on Alzheimer's disease-like inflammation and drug response for individual patients. Maresin 1 ameliorates amyloid-β42–induced changes in several genes of importance in Alzheimer's disease, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target for Alzheimer's disease.

This paper introduces a method for modeling the entire aggregated electric vehicle(EV)charging process and analyzing its dispatchable *** methodology involves developing a model for aggregated EV charging at the charging station level,estimating its physical dispatchable capability,determining its economic dispatchable capability under economic incentives,modeling its participation in the grid,and investigating the effects of different scenarios and EV penetration on the aggregated load dispatch and dispatchable *** results indicate that using economic dispatchable capability reduces charging prices by 9.7%compared to physical dispatchable capability and 9.3%compared to disorderly ***,the peak-to-valley difference is reduced by 64.6%when applying economic dispatchable capability with 20%EV penetration and residential base load,compared to disorderly charging.

U and Th Contents and Th/U Ratios of Zircon in Felsic and Mafic Magmatic Rocks:Improved Zircon-Melt Distribution Coefficients

High-precision data on U and Th contents and Th/U ratios of zircon obtained using secondary ion mass spectrometry analysis have been collected from the literature. Zircon in the granitic rocks has median values of 350 ppm U, 140 ppm Th, and Th/U=0.52; the recommended zircon-melt partition coefficients are 81 for Du and 8.2 for DTh. In zircon from mafic and intermediate rocks, the median values are 270 ppm U, 170 ppm Th, and Th/U=0.81, and the recommended zirconmelt partition coefficients are 169 for Du and 59 for DTh. The U and Th contents and Th/U ratios of magmatic zircon are low when zircon crystallizes in equilibrium with the melt. Increasing magma temperature should promote higher Th contents relative to U contents, resulting in higher Th/U ratios for zircon in mafic to intermediate rocks than in granitic rocks. However, when zircon crystallizes in disequilibrium with the melt, U and Th are more easily able to enter the zircon lattice, and their contents and Th/U ratios depend mainly on the degree of disequilibrium. The behavior of U and Th in magmatic zircon can be used as a geochemical indicator to determine the origins and crystallization environments of magmatic zircon.

Corrosion Performance of High Strength 15Cr Martensitic Stainless Steel in Severe Environments

High pressure and high temperature corrosion performance of high strength 15 Cr martensitic stainless steel was studied in different severe environments—live acid（10%HCl＋1.5%HF＋3%HAc＋5.1% corrosion inhibitor）,spent acid and formation water containing *** results show that the corrosion of high strength 15 Cr martensitic stainless steel in live acid is most serious,and the uniform corrosion rate is far greater than those in spent acid and formation water containing CO2 corrosion environments,but all of them can be acceptable for *** corrosion inhibitor displays a good matching ability with the high strength 15 Cr martensitic stainless steel in terms of decreasing the uniform corrosion rate,which changes mainly the anodic process of high strength 15 Cr martensitic stainless *** corrosion potential moves to the positive direction,thus the corrosion current density decreases *** are some different degrees of pitting of high strength 15 Cr martensitic stainless steel after corrosion tests in live acid,spent acid and formation water containing CO2,and the pitting density aggravates significantly and the maximum pit depth decreases in the corrosion sequence.

Quantification and timing of porosity evolution in tight sand gas reservoirs:an example from the Middle Jurassic Shaximiao Formation,western Sichuan,China

The diagenesis and porosity evolution of the Middle Jurassic Shaximiao sandstones were analyzed based on petrographic observations, X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy observations, carbon and oxygen stable isotope geochemistry, fluid inclusion mi- crothermometry, and thermal and burial history modeling results. The point count data show that secondary pores （av. 5.5 %） are more abundant than primary pores （av. 3.7 %） and are thus the dominant pore type in the Shaximiao sandstones. Analysis of porosity evolution indicates that alteration of sandstones mainly occurred during two paragenetic stages. Mechanical compaction and cementa- tion by early chlorite, calcite, and quartz typically decrease the depositional porosity （40.9 %） by an average of 37.2 %, leaving porosity of 3.7 % after stage I （〈85 ℃, 175-145 Ma）. The original intergranular porosity loss due to compaction is calculated to be 29.3 %, suggesting that mechanical compaction is the most significant diagenetic process in primary porosity destruction. Stage II can be further divided into two sub-stages （Stage IIa and Stage IIb）. Stage IIa （85-120 ℃, 145-125 Ma） is characterized by late dissolution, which enhanced porosity by 8.8 %, and the porosity increased from 3.7 % to 12.5 %. During stage IIb （〉120 ℃, 125-0 Ma）, the precipitation of late chlorite, calcite, quartz, and kaolinite destroyed 3.3 % porosity, leaving porosity of 9.2 % in the rock today.
