Recent Progress in Reinforcement learning and Adaptive Dynamic Programming for Advanced Control Applications

Reinforcement learning(Rl) has roots in dynamic programming and it is called adaptive/approximate dynamic programming(ADP) within the control community. This paper reviews recent developments in ADP along with Rl and its applications to various advanced control fields. First, the background of the development of ADP is described, emphasizing the significance of regulation and tracking control problems. Some effective offline and online algorithms for ADP/adaptive critic control are displayed, where the main results towards discrete-time systems and continuous-time systems are surveyed, ***, the research progress on adaptive critic control based on the event-triggered framework and under uncertain environment is discussed, respectively, where event-based design, robust stabilization, and game design are reviewed. Moreover, the extensions of ADP for addressing control problems under complex environment attract enormous attention. The ADP architecture is revisited under the perspective of data-driven and Rl frameworks,showing how they promote ADP formulation ***, several typical control applications with respect to Rl and ADP are summarized, particularly in the fields of wastewater treatment processes and power systems, followed by some general prospects for future research. Overall, the comprehensive survey on ADP and Rl for advanced control applications has d emonstrated its remarkable potential within the artificial intelligence era. In addition, it also plays a vital role in promoting environmental protection and industrial intelligence.

Major volcanic eruptions(MVEs)have attracted increasing attention from the scientific *** studies have explored the climatic impact of MVEs over the past two ***,proxy-based reconstructions and climate model simulations indicate divergent responses of global and China’s regional climates to ***,we used multiple data from observations,reconstructions,simulations,and assimilations to summarize the historical facts of MVEs,the characteristics and mechanisms of their climatic impact,and directions for future *** reviewed volcanic datasets and determined intensive MVE periods;these periods corresponded to the years 530–700,1200‒1460,and 1600‒1840 *** tropical MVEs,a substantial cooling effect is observed throughout the globe and China on the interannual-interdecadal time scales but an inconsistent cooling magnitude is detected between reconstructions and *** the first summer after tropical MVEs,a decrease in global and monsoonal precipitation is *** reconstructions and simulations,an increased precipitation is seen for the Yangtze River Basin,while large uncertainties in precipitation changes are present for other regions of *** drought can be induced by frequent eruptions and volcanism superimposed on low solar irradiation and internal *** affect climate directly through the radiative effect and indirectly by modulating internal variability,such as the El Niño‒Southern Oscillation(ENSO)and Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation(AMO).However,changes in the phase,amplitude,and periodicity of ENSO and AMO after MVEs and the associated mechanisms remain controversial,which could account for model-reconstruction ***,other internal variability,uncertainties in reconstruction methods and aerosol‒climate models,and climate background may also induce model-reconstruction *** gaps and directions for future research are also discussed.

Effects of heat treatment on microstructures and properties of a heterostructured alloy with dissimilar components fabricated by WAAM

Heat treatment significantly influences homogeneous material microstructures and mechanical properties,which can be improved by an optimal heat treatment ***,heat treatment application to heterogeneous materials presents significant challenges due to compositional and microstructural ***,a laminated heterostructured alloy comprising alternating316l stainless steel(SS)and 18Ni300 maraging steel(MS)layers fabricated using wire and arc additive manufacturing was investigated.A solution treatment was applied at900℃for 0.5 ***,the solution-treated and asfabricated(AF)samples were aged at 500℃for 4 h;these samples were denoted SA and AT,*** AT phase compositions and orientations were similar to those of *** SA 316l SS layer resembled that of AF,but the SA 18Ni300 MS layers exhibited a reduced austenite phase fraction and refined grain size,attributable to solid-state *** the AT sample,aging induced the formation of nanoscale acicularωphase and ellipsoidal Ni_(3)Ti,Fe_(2)Mo,and X precipitates in the 18Ni300 MS ***,the SA precipitates contained acicular Fe Ni_(2)and ellipsoidalω,Ni_(3)Ti,and X precipitates,and their fractions were lower than those in AT ***18Ni300 MS layer microhardness in the heat-treated samples increased due to nanoprecipitation,but the 316l SS layer microhardness resembled that of *** AT and SA ultimate tensile strengths increased to(1360±50)and(1473±41)MPa,respectively,attributable to precipitation *** SA 316l SS layer exhibited a high stress-induced martensite fraction,enhancing the ductility of heated samples.

A Reliable Iteration Algorithm for One-Bit Compressive Sensing on the unit Sphere

The one-bit compressed sensing problem is of fundamental importance in many areas,such as wireless communication,statistics,and so ***,the optimization of one-bit problem coustrained on the unit sphere lacks an algorithm with rigorous mathematical proof of convergence and *** this paper,an iteration algorithm is established based on difference-of-convex algorithm for the one-bit compressed sensing problem constrained on the unit sphere,with iterating formula■,where C is the convex cone generated by the one-bit measurements andη_(1)>η_(2)>1/*** new algorithm is proved to converge as long as the initial point is on the unit sphere and accords with the measurements,and the convergence to the global minimum point of the l_(1)norm is discussed.

Reduced Macrophage uptake of Nanoparticles through Surface Modification of Polypeptides with Valine Residues

The structural and surface properties of nanomedicines play an important role in determining their biological fate. Surface chemistry of nanomedicines is one of the key parameters, where researchers used various strategies such as PEGylation to avoid the undesired clearance of nanoparticles (NPs) for enhanced targeting effect. Nevertheless, the fine-tuning of surface chemistry through polymer functionalization remains largely unexplored. In this concise report, we find that the incorporation of only 10 mol% valine residues into the surface-anchored poly(l-glutamic acid) significantly lowered the macrophage uptake of NPs. The introduction of other hydrophobic amino acid residues, however, increased the NPs internalization instead. The chirality and the side-chain structure of valine played an important role in the unexpected uptake behavior. We believe this work highlights the impact of slight changes of the surface-anchored polymer structure on the behavior of NPs, drawing people's attention to the careful design of surface chemistry to optimize the nanomedicine design.

Remarkable N_(2)-selectivity enhancement of NH_(3)-SCR over HPMo modified MnCo-BTC@SiO_(2) catalyst

In this work,the phosphomolybdate(HPMo)modification strategy was applied to improve the N_(2) selectivity of Mn Co-BTC@SiO_(2)catalyst for the selective catalytic reduction of NO_(x),and further,the mechanism of HPMo modification on enhanced catalytic performance was *** Mn Co-BTC@SiO_(2-x) catalysts with different HPMo concentrations,Mn CoBTC@SiO_(2)-0.75 catalyst exhibited not only the highest NH_(3)-SCR performance(95% at 200-300℃)but also the best N_(2)selectivity(exceed 80% at 100-300℃)due to the appropriate redox capacity,greater surface acidity.X-ray photoelectron spectrometer(XPS)and temperature programmed reduction of H_(2)(H_(2)-TPR)results showed that the modification with HPMo reduced the oxidation-reduction performance of the catalyst due to electron transfer from Mo^(5+)to Mn^(4+)/Mn^(3+)and prevent the excessive oxidation of ammonia adsorption ***_(3)temperature-programmed desorption of(NH_(3)-TPD)results showed that the modification with HPMo could significantly improve the surface acidity and NH_(3)adsorption,which enhance the catalytic activity and N_(2)***-situ diffused reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy(in-situ DRIFTS)revealed that modification with HPMo increased significantly the amount of adsorbed NH_(3)species on the Bronsted acid site and C_(B)/C_(l),it suppressed the production of N_(2)O by inhibiting the production of NH species,the deep dehydrogenation of ammonia adsorption *** study provided a simple design strategy for the catalyst to improve the low-temperature catalytic performance and N_(2)selectivity.

Abandoned chemical smelting sites containing toxic substances can seriously threaten and pose a risk to the surrounding ecological *** samples were collected from different depths(0 to 13 m)and analyzed for metal(loid)s content and fractionation,as well as microbial *** potential ecological risk indices for the different soil depths(ordered from high to low)were:1 m(D-1)>surface(S-0)>5 m(D-5)>13 m(D-13)>9 m(D-9),ranging between 1840.65-13,089.62,and representing extremely high environmental risks,of which Cd(and probably not arsenic)contributed to the highest environmental risk.A modified combined pol.ution risk index(MCR)combining total content and mobile proportion of metal(loid)s,and relative toxicities,was used to evaluate the degree of contamination and potential environmental *** the near-surface samples(S-0 and D-1 layers),the MCR considered that As,Cd,Pb,Sb,and Zn achieved high and alarming degrees of contamination,whereas Fe,Mn,and Ti were negligible or low to moderate pol.ution *** microcalorimetry and enzymatic activity measurements of contaminated soil samples were used to assess the microbial metabolic activity *** analysis elucidated the relationship between metal(loid)s exchangeable fraction or content and microbial activity characteristics(pl metabolic activity in the D-1 layer was low presumably due to heavy metal *** activity indicators and microcalorimetric growth rate(k)measurements were considered sensitive indicators to reflect the soil microbial activities in abandoned chemical smelting sites.

High-resolution remote thermometry based on Bi^(3+)-doped 0D zinc halide hybrids

Developing highly sensitive optical thermometers is of great significance due to their capability to enable remote and non-contact temperature measurements, rendering them highly applicable in diverse and harsh environments. Herein we report a temperature-dependent phosphor of 0D metal halide hybrid by incorporating Bi^(3+)into the(MePPh_(3))_(2)ZnCl_(4) matrix. Through Bi^(3+)doping,the initially non-luminescent(MePPh_(3))_(2) ZnCl_(4) matrix exhibits a deep-blue emission centered at 453 nm, with a photoluminescence quantum yield(PlQY) of 5.71% and a Stokes shift of 75 nm at room temperature. Experimental characterization demonstrates that exciton-like luminescence of Bi^(3+)is mainly responsible for the blue emission. Single crystals of Bi^(3+)-doped(MePPh_(3))_(2)ZnCl_(4) show an unusual correlation between photoluminescence(Pl) lifetime and temperature. Particularly, the dependence of luminescence lifetime on temperature is most remarkable in the temperature range of 80 to 100 K with an exceptional sensitivity up to 0.09 K^(-1), representing one of the best levels for thermometry based on Pl decay lifetime. Our work not only provides a viable strategy for designing a novel, environmentally friendly, and stable blue emitter, but also paves the way for precise thermometric application at low temperature.
