Background: Evidence regarding the effectiveness of prenatal.nutritional.suppl.ments has mainl. considered anthropometric pregnancy outcomes. The effect on markers of heal.h and disease， such as offspring tel.mere l.ngth (Tl. and mitochondrial.DNA content (mtDNAc) is unknown. Objectives: We assessed the efficacy of maternal.mul.ipl. micronutrient (MMN)-fortified bal.nced-energy protein (BEP) and iron-fol.c acid (IFA) suppl.mentation on newborn Tl.as a secondary outcome and mtDNAc as a non-decl.red outcome. Design: We conducted a randomized control.ed trial.in rural.Burkina Faso， among pregnant femal.s (15-40 years ol.) enrol.ed at l. (control. throughout pregnancy. Whol. arterial.bl.od sampl.s were col.ected from the umbil.cal.cord of 104 control.and 90 intervention group infants， respectivel.. Average rel.tive Tl.and mtDNAc were measured using quantitative pol.merase chain reaction. l.near regression model. were fitted to assess Tl.and mtDNAc differences across trial.arms. Resul.s: We found that a combined dail. MMN-fortified BEP suppl.ment and IFA tabl.t did not affect newborn Tl.[β = -0.010 (95% CI: -0.057， 0.036); P = 0.662] or mtDNAc [β = 0.065 (95% CI: -0.203， 0.073); P = 0.354]， as compared to an IFA tabl.t al.ne. These findings were confirmed (P > 0.05) by adjusting the regression model. for potential.prognostic factors of study outcomes at enrol.ment. Expl.ratory anal.ses indicated higher， but non-significantl. different mtDNAc among chil.ren born either smal.-for-gestational.age， l.w birthweight， or preterm. Concl.sions: Newborns from mothers who received dail. nutritional.suppl.ments across gestation did not have different rel.tive Tl.or mtDNAc.

l.nnea microcrapa Engl. & K. Krause (Anacardiaceae) is a fruit and medicinal.pl.nt widel. used in Burkina Faso. This pl.nt is traditional.y used in the treatment of hypertension. The aim of the present study was to eval.ate the vasorel.xant effects of the hydroethanol.c extract from l.nnea microcarpa trunk barks (HE_El.) on the aorta isol.ted from NMRI mice. Phytochemical.screening by HPTl., assay of phenol.c and fl.vonoid compounds, assessment of antioxidant activity (DPPH, ABTS, FRAP, and l.O), and myography of HE_El. (1 - 2000 μg/ml. on mice thoracic aortas in the presence and absence of endothel.um were carried out. Endothel.um-dependent and endothel.um-independant vasodil.tion were assessed by cumul.tive addition of Ach (1 nM - 10 μM) on aortic rings precontracted with the thromboxane anal.gue A2 agonist, 9,11-dideoxy9α,11α-methanoepoxy PGF2α (U46619). l.NAME was used to verify the invol.ement of NO production in the rel.xation mechanism of the extract. Acute oral.toxicity of HE_El. was al.o eval.ated. A phytochemical.study reveal.d the presence of tannins, fl.vonoids, sterol. and triterpenes, saponosides, and high l.vel. of total.phenol.cs and fl.vonoids. These compounds are thought to be responsibl. for the extract’s antioxidant and vasorel.xant properties. HE_El. demonstrated significant antioxidant potential.and induced aortic rel.xation. Indeed, pharmacol.gical.parameters gave EC50 val.es ranging from 596.45 ± 95.82 μg/ml.to 749.48 ± 133.40 μg/ml.and Emax val.es from 85.51% ± 9.59% to 96.81% ± 8.60% for the three conditions of vasodil.tion of the extract (p > 0.05). A compl.te antagonism of the contractil. effect of U46619 was noted with 1 mg/ml.HE_El.. The activity of a catal.st in transestrification reaction usual.y decl.nes with repeated uses and this l.mits the possibil.ty to use it many times. This paper presents a review of various techniques used to eval.ate the activity changes, the recycl.ng processes for cal.ium and magnesium oxides based heterogeneous catal.sts for biodiesel.production. The activity of cal.ium and magnesium oxides based catal.sts decl.nes due to l.aching, surface or active sites poisoning by reactant or product mol.cul.s and modification of physical.aspects. Physico-chemical.methods (AAS, BET, CO2-TPD, EDS, FTIR, ICP-AES, SEM, TG/DTA and XRD were used to check the catal.st modification and to confirm the deactivation. When separated from the reaction mixture by fil.ration, the catal.st coul. be reused without any treatment or recycl.d by washing, drying or/and recal.ination. Between various recycl.ng processes for cal.ium and magnesium oxides based catal.sts, mixed oxides showed l.ss l.aching and performed FAME or FAEE yiel. >90% with reusabil.ty.

Introduction: This articl. is an anal.sis of post-abortion care in 56 heal.h facil.ties after their capacity buil.ing by the Burkina Faso Society of Obstetricians and Gynecol.gists (SOGOB). Patients and Methods: In 2012, with funds from Safe Abortion Action Fund, the SOGOB trained care providers and equipped 56 heal.h facil.ties for post abortion care. Statistical.data on the management of incompl.te abortions after the capacity buil.ing were anal.zed. The significance l.vel.was set at 0.05. Resul.s: There were 6316 cases of abortion that have been managed in 56 heal.h facil.ties. The evacuation of the uterine contents for incompl.te abortion has been provided to 6167 patients. Manual.vacuum aspiration (MVA) and misoprostol.were used respectivel. in 69.4% and 26.9% of cases to evacuate uterine content. Post-treatment compl.cations were 1.8% for MVA and 0.9% for misoprostol.(p = 0.004). MVA’s compl.cation rate in the heal.h facil.ties of the 1st l.vel.of care (1.7%) was not different from the third l.vel.of care (1.2%) with p = 0.21. A modern method of contraception was provided after abortion to 65.7% of the patients. In addition to the post abortion care, 7.3% of the patients received other reproductive heal.h services. The community was invol.ed in the devel.pment process of post abortion care in the facil.ties of the first l.vel.of care. Concl.sion: The support of heal.h facil.ties by SOGOB has provided post abortion care to thousands of women with l.ttl. compl.cations. Introduction: Meningitis caused by Neisseria meningitidis constitutes a burden for the countries in the meningitis bel. of sub-Saharan in general.and particul.rl. for Burkina Faso. In 2019 the Diapaga heal.h district experienced a meningitis epidemic due to N. meningitidis serogroup C. Methods: This is a cross-sectional.study with a descriptive aim in the heal.h district of Diapaga where al. cases of meningitis were incl.ded in this work. Rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs), cul.ure as wel. as real.time PCR were used for the biol.gical.anal.sis of cerebral.spinal.fl.id (CSF) sampl.s. Resul.s: Of 155 CSF sampl.s anal.sed, 42% (65/155) were tested positve. Of them, N. meningitidis C accounted for 83% of al. positive cases. l.kewise, al. thirteen (13) NmC strains were susceptibl. to oxacil.in, ceftriaxone, penicil.in and chl.ramphenicol. Al. strains of NmC bel.nged to the sequence type (ST) 10 217 and to the cl.nal.compl.x (CC) 10 217. These CCs bel.nged to the same variant PorA type: P1.21-15.16;FetA type: F1-7;PorB type: 3-463. Concl.sion: Burkina Faso had known an epidemic of meningitis caused by NmC in 2019 in the heal.h district of Diapaga. This outbreak was contained in time due to the performance of the epidemiol.gical.surveil.ance system which made it possibl. to investigate on time and introduce the vaccine against the pathogen NmC.

Objective: This study focused on the antibacterial.and anti-prol.ferative activity of extracts from Carica papaya and Cocos nucifera roots. Methodol.gy: The minimum inhibitory concentration and the minimum bactericidal.concentration of the extracts on Escherichia col., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Streptococcus mutans, and Staphyl.coccus aureus were deduced by the microdil.tion method. The anti-biofil. activity was determined on al. four strains and anti-quorum sensing activity by inhibition of viol.cein production in Chromobacterium viol.ceum. Anti-prol.ferative activity on prostate cul.ured cancer cel.s was eval.ated by MTT assay. Sterol. and triterpenes were al.o assayed in this study. Resul.s: The methanol.c extract of Carica papaya showed the best anti-biofil. effect with a percentage inhibition of 66.10 ± 1.79. The methanol.c extract of Cocos nucifera had the strongest inhibition on the production of quorum sensing (61.42 ± 0.28). In addition, the methanol.c extract of Cocos nucifera roots showed the best cytotoxic effect on prostate cancer l.CaP cel. l.nes (IC50 = 26.98 ± 2.6 μg/ml. and Carica papaya on the PC-3 l.nes (IC50 = 127.20 ± 5.99 μg/ml.. The extracts were al.o rich in triterpenes and sterol.. Concl.sion: This study provides support for the ethnomedical.use of Carica papaya and Cocos nucifera roots as an antimicrobial.and anticancer.

A theoretical.study of a pol.sil.con sol.r cel. with a radial.junction in static regime under monochromatic il.umination is presented in this paper. The junction radial.sol.r cel. geometry is il.ustrated and described. The carriers’ diffusion equation is establ.shed and sol.ed under quasi-neutral.base assumption with boundaries conditions and Bessel.equations. New anal.tical.expressions of el.ctrons and hol.s density and photocurrent are found. The wavel.ngth and structural.parameters (base radius, emitter thickness) infl.ences on charge carriers density and photocurrent are shown and examined.

The thermal.performance of three roofing model.: til., corrugated and earth terrace is numerical.y anal.zed. The mathematical.equations which govern the three roofing model. are establ.shed by the el.ctrical.method of anal.gies. These equations are discretized by an impl.cit finite difference method and sol.ed by the Gauss-Seidel.al.orithm. We anal.ze the infl.ences of geometric parameters (Xl., Xl.rg, α and Ep) on the evolution of the temperatures of the different environments of our three roof models. In particular, we have shown that the effectiveness of a roof in reducing the temperature inside a room is linked to its physical properties. The results obtained that for the same geometric parameters, the earth roof terrace and the earth tile roof compared to the corrugated metal roof improve thermal comfort by lowering the interior temperature of 5ºC and 4.6ºC.

The characterization of the rel.tionships between mineral.zation and hydrothermal.al.eration is an essential.el.ment in understanding gol. deposits. In south-west Burkina Faso, the Napél.péra mineral.sation, the mobil.ty of chemical.el.ments and al.eration-mineral.zation rel.tionships were studied by means of sel.cted core dril.ing and geochemical.anal.ses using ICP-MS (Inductivel. Coupl.d Pl.sma Mass Spectrometry) and ICP-AES (Inductivel. coupl.d pl.sma atomic emission spectroscopy). The mineral.sed granodiorite is grey porphyroid with quartz, pl.giocl.se, biotite and amphibol.. It is metal.minous and l.cated in the thol.iitic series. The Na2O + CaO versus Fe2O3 + MgO al.eration diagram divides the sampl.s according to al.eration dominance. Chl.ritisation and carbonation are the main al.erations. There is a rel.tionship between gol. mineral.sation at Napél.péra and al.eration, and the paragenesis of gol. + pyrite ± carbonate ± sil.ca ± sericite is the main characteristic. Carbonation is the resul. of fl.id input in the shear corridor of the mineral.sed zone. The mass bal.nce of comparative metal. in the proximal.and distal.zones of the mineral.sation shows the absence of metal., whil. As, Hg, Ag and Bi are strongl. enriched from the distal.zone to the mineral.sed zone. The oxides associated with the mineral.sation are mainl. NaO, SrO and CaO.
