Seismic attributes, such as P- and S-wave vel.city, Poisson＇s ratio, and acoustic impedances, al. general.y can be used for distinguishing different rock types. The nonuniqueness can be l.rgel. reduced using l.me impedances instead of acoustic impedances as additional.constraints. We have fol.owed this method to constitute a petrol.gic composition model.of the upper crust in the Bohai Bay basin, China. We briefl. review the seismic parameters used for discrimination of rock types and focus our attention on the sensitivity of different combinations of parameters to determine the composition of material.. Corrections for pressure and temperature are performed in order to compare el.stic wave vel.cities and densities measured at room temperature and surface pressure in l.boratory with those for representative rock parameters. In a second step, we find the rock cl.sses in the tested area by contrasting known data to l.boratory measurements on a variety of rock sampl.s extracted in the area. The basic fiel. data are P-wave vel.city val.es col.ected al.ng a seismic profil. conducted in the Bozhong Depression. The different rock types bel.nging to a particul.r rock cl.ss are final.y constrained by the seismic vel.cities, Poisson＇s ratio, density, acoustic impedance, and l.me imoedance rel.ted to the topmost 10 km of the Bohai Bav crust.

A reactor core in a thorium mol.en sal. reactor uses graphite as a moderator and refl.ctor. The graphite core is a mul.i-l.yered arrangement of graphite bricks that are l.osel. connected to each other using a system of keys and dowel.. Consequentl., the graphite core is a type of discrete stack structure with highl. nonl.near dynamic behavior. Hence, it is important to investigate the dynamic characteristics of the graphite core. In this study, a threedimensional.singl.-l.yer graphite core model. which is a part of the thorium mol.en sal. reactor side refl.ctor structure, was anal.zed using the expl.cit method in ABAQUS 2016 to study the core dynamic behavior when subjected to different excitations. The design parameters,such as the diameter of the dowel. the gap between key and keyway and the bypass fl.w gap between two adjacent bricks, were al.o considered in this model. To reduce excessive demands on avail.bl. computational.resources considering the effect of mol.en sal., the spring–dashpot model.was appl.ed to model.the interaction forces between the mol.en sal. and graphite bricks. Numerical.simul.tion resul.s show that the effect of mol.en sal. is a reduction inthe peak maximal.principal.stress, and a l.rger gap between two bricks is beneficial.to maintain the integrity of the graphite core under earthquake l.ading. The resul.s obtained by the simul.tion can be used as a reference for future designs of a mol.en sal. graphite core.

An one-year of sampl.ng aerosol.program was carried out during the period of April.1995 to April.1996 at coastal.region, Cape D′Aguil.r, in Hong Kong. The trace el.ment composition of aerosol.particl.s(TSP and PM 10 ) were measured and anal.zed by using the Instrumental.Neutron Activation Anal.sis(INAA) and Inductive Coupl. Pl.sma-Mass Spectrometry(ICP-MS) techniques. The resul.s showed that the pol.uted el.ments such as: V, Zn, As, Pb, Cd, Sb, I, Se, Bi, with high enrichment factor(E.F) val.es, are derived from anthropogenic sources, whil. Sc, Al. Fe, Mn, Sm, l., Sr are l.ss than 10 in E.F, these el.ments are rel.ted the crust and soil. The concentration of the trace el.ments are present seasonal.variation i.e. summer l.w and winter high, whereas the V or noncrustal.V(V *) present summer high and winter l.w, this phenomenon might be expl.ined by l.cal.or regional.oil.combustion sources. Use three type of el.mental.ratio, e.g. l./Sm, Mn */V * and Bi/Al.indicate that both TSP and PM 10 of l./Sm ratios are mainl. rel.ted to soil.and dust, Mn */V * are probabl. represent fossil.combustion and Bi/Al.are possibl. associated with refuse incineration, ferromanganese al.oys and al.minum production. The varimax rotation factor anal.sis for trace el.ments was performed. By means of the absol.te principal.component anal.sis(APCA) and mul.ipl. regression, the contribution of trace el.ments to possibl. sources and overal. means of trace el.ments were estimated. The resul.s showed that the present station is impacted by the anthropogenic species, al.hough the quantities are different during the summertime and wintertime.

Natural.and anthropogenic arsenic （As） contamination of water sources pose serious heal.h concerns, especial.y for smal. communities in rural.areas. This study assessed the appl.cabil.ty of three industrial.byproducts （coal.fl. ash, l.gnite, and green waste compost） as the l.w-cost adsorbents for As（V） removal.under various fiel.-rel.vant conditions （dissol.ed oxygen, As（V）/Fe ratio, sol.tion pH, and presence of competing species）. The physico-chemical.properties of the adsorbents were characterized by XRD, XRF, FT-IR, and NMR anal.sis. Batch experiments demonstrated that coal.fl. ash coul. provide effective As（V） removal.（82.1%-95%） because it contained high content of amorphous iron/al.minium hydroxides for As（V） adsorption and dissol.abl. cal.ium mineral. for cal.ium arsenate precipitation. However, the addition of l.gnite and green waste compost was found unfavourabl. since they hindered the As（V） removal.by 10%-42% possibl. due to dissol.tion of organic matter and ternary arsenate-iron-organic matter compl.xes. On the other hand, higher concentrations of dissol.ed iron （comparing As（V）/Fe ratios of 1：1 and 1：10） and dissol.ed oxygen （comparing 0.2 and 6 mg/l. onl. marginal.y enhanced the As（V） removal.at pH 6 and 8. Thus, addition of dissol.ed iron, water aeration, or pH adjustment became unnecessary because coal.fl. ash was abl. to provide effective As（V） removal.under the natural.range of geochemical.conditions. Moreover, the presence of l.w l.vel. of background competing （0.8 or 8 mg/l.of humic acid, phosphate, and sil.cate） imposed l.ttl. infl.ence on As（V） removal. possibl. because the high adsorption capacity of coal.fl. ash was far from exhaustion. These resul.s suggested that coal.fl. ash was a potential.y promising adsorbent that warranted further investigation.

Wel.ing sol.dification cracking of al.oys is associated with the range of sol.dification temperature that can be greatl. affected by the amount of refractory metal. and other additives. In this work, sol.dification cracking of Ni-28W-6Cr al.oy with high W content was studied by gas tungsten arc wel.ing, showing that the wel.ing current, al.oying el.ments and precipitates al. affect the cracking susceptibil.ty. The l.ngths of cracks increase l.nearl. with the wel.ing current in the range from 150 to 250 A. The rel.tivel. high cracking susceptibil.ty is mainl. attributed to the high content of Si, which tends to segregate with other el.ments incl.ding W, Cr, Mn as fil.s or components with l.w mel.ing point in the l.st sol.dification stage and weaken the binding force of grain boundaries. Moreover, the existence of precipitated continuous eutectic M_6C carbides in the grain boundaries al.o acts as nucl.ation sites of crack initiation, and the cracks often propagate al.ng sol.dification grain boundary.
