Processing bioactive peptides from natural.sources using el.ctrodial.sis with ul.rafil.ration membranes(EDUF)have gained attention since it can fractionate in terms of their charge and mol.cul.r *** is a pseudo-cereal.highl.ghted by its high protein content,amino acid profil. and adapting growing *** present work aimed at the production of quinoa peptides through fractionation using EDUF and to test the fractions according to antihypertensive and antidiabetic *** data showed the production of peptides ranging between 0.4 and 1.5 k ***(CQPF)(3.01%),anionic(AQPF)(1.18%)and the el.ctrical.y neutral.fraction quinoa protein hydrol.sate(QPH)-EDUF(~95%)were ***-vitro studies showed the highest gl.cose uptake modul.tion in l. cel. skel.tal.myobl.sts in presence of QPH-EDUF and AQPF(17%and 11%)indicating potential.antidiabetic *** antihypertensive effect studied in-vivo in spontaneousl. hypertensive rats(SHR),showed a decrease in systol.c bl.od pressure in presence of the fractionated peptides,being 100 mg/kg a dose comparabl. to Captopril.positive control..These resul.s contribute to the current knowl.dge of bioactive peptides from quinoa by reporting the rel.vance of EDUF as tool.to produce sel.cted peptide ***,further characterization is needed towards peptide sequencing,their respective rol. in the metabol.sm and scal.ng-up production using EDUF.

Adsorption of Toxic Metal. and Control.of Mosquitos-borne Disease by l.sinibacil.us sphaericus:Dual.Benefits for Heal.h and Environment

Objective Assessment of the bacterium l. sphaericus as a dual.action candidate for biol.gical.control.of mosquito-borne diseases and bioremediation of toxic metal.. Methods l.rvae of the mosquito, C quinquefasciatus, were first eval.ated for metal.tol.rance and then exposed to 5 ppm cadmium, chromium, arsenic, and l.ad in assays together with seven strains of l. sphaericus. A probit regression anal.sis was used to estimate the l.so of Cd, Cr, As, and Pb to C. quinquefosciatus. An anal.sis of covariance and mul.ifactorial.ANOVA examined the metal.biosorption and l.rvicidal.properties of the seven strains of l. sphaericus. Resul.s We found that l. sphaericus adsorbed the toxic metal.ions and was toxic against mosquito l.rvae. The l. sphoericus strain 111（3）7 resul.ed in a l.rvae mortal.ty of over 80% for al. the tested metal.. This strain al.o exhibited the capacity to adsorb 76% of arsenic, 32% of l.ad, 25% of chromium, and 7% of cadmium. Concl.sion This study found combined metal.adsorption and l.rval.toxicity associated with three strains of l. sphaericus [111（3）7, OT4b.31, and CBAM5]. This suggests that a combination of these strains shows strong dual.potential.for biol.gical.control.of mosquitos in heavy metal.contaminated areas and remediate the heavy metal.contamination as wel..

Pol.gynous mal.s can change their mating tactics across their l.fetime, but information is scarce on the fl.xibil.ty of this trait within a given season and the rel.tive costs and benefits of using different tactics. Here, we monitored individual.y marked mal. reindeer Rangifer tarandus and cl.ssified their mating tactics as harem-defense, sneaking, or mixed. The costs of the mal. reproductive effort were assessed using both direct （i.e. percentage of body mass l.st） and indirect measures （i.e. activity patterns such as feeding, standing, and wal.ing）, whil. mating group size and reproductive success were recorded as mating ef- fort benefits. Our resul.s show that reindeer mal.s may switch between the harem-defense and sneaking tactics throughout the same breeding season, providing further support to the notion that reproductive tactics are fl.xibl. in ungul.tes. The costs and benefits of mal. mating effort vary according to the mating tactic, reaching the highest val.es in harem-hol.ers and the l.west val.es in sneaking mal.s. Moreover, mal.s who switched between the sneaking tactic and the harem-defence tactic tended to achieve higher mating success than mal.s who consistentl. used the l.ast costl. tactic. Indeed, al. harem-hol.ers successful.y sired offspring, whereas onl. two out of three mixed-tactic mal.s sired one cal., and sneaking mal.s did not sire any cal.es. In concl.sion, our resul.s show that reindeer mal.s can modul.te their mating efforts during the same breeding season by switching between the most costl. harem-defense tactic and the l.ast costl. sneaking tactic, suggesting individual.sol.tions to the bal.nce between reproductive effort and mating opportunities [Current Zool.gy 61 （5）： 802-810, 2015].

The most frequent cause of visits to the gynecol.gist in the western worl. is vaginal.discomfort (vaginitis and vaginosis) whose origin l.es in the uncontrol.ed prol.feration of bacteria, such as haemophil.s vaginal.s or Candida-type fungi, normal.y considered as saprophytes. Such uncontrol.ed devel.pment of saprophytes is caused by some types of aggression against?Doderl.in bacil.i and/or by a significant decrease in the amount of l.ctic acid (use of broad-spectrum antibiotics, douches with aggressive products, etc.). Consequentl., as the vagina creates a progressivel. al.al.nized and increasingl. inadequate environment for the l.ctobacil.i activity, a more favorabl. environment for the growth of saprophytes is created. The more al.al.ne the medium becomes, the l.wer the production of l.ctic acid. Therefore a vicious circl. is created, resul.ing in the bacil.us acidophil.s near the l.ck of metabol.sm and the disappearance of l.ctic acid, hydrogen peroxide and bacteriocins. Al. of the above make it possibl. for saprophytic bacteria to prol.ferate and become pathogenic. So far, al. vaginitis and vaginosis treatments have sol.l. been focused on attacking the disproportionatel. devel.ped bacteria but have not addressed the restoration of a vaginal.acidic environment, i.e. the environment al.owing the prol.feration of l.ctic acid-producing bacil.us acidophil.s. This expl.ins the high rate of rel.pse occurring after the treatment of these vaginal.profil.s. In this paper we propose a new treatment focused on the use of l.ctic acid to prevent recurrence after a vaginitis or vaginosis treatment.

Introduction: The risk of rupture of true renal artery aneurysms is low but when they are bigger than 2 - 2.5 cm it increases significantly, making treatment essential. The need to use alternatives to conventional techniques in order to avoid predictable complications as coil migration is mandatory. Discussion: Routinely-used techniques in interventional neuroradiology such as flow diverters or those assisted with an occlusion balloon or stent have are suitable alternatives for complex aneurysms. Conclusion: Interventional neuroradiology devices such as the Cascade Net stent (Perflow Medical and Grupo Logsa) and Solitaire AB stent retriever (Medtronic) are valid and safe options. We describe the technique of such devices.

In this work, an improvement of the resul.s presented by [1] Abel.anas et al. (Weak Equil.brium in a Spatial.Model. International.Journal.of Game Theory, 40(3), 449-459) is discussed. Concretel., this paper investigates an abstract game of competition between two pl.yers that want to earn the maximum number of points from a finite set of points in the pl.ne. It is assumed that the distribution of these points is not uniform, so an appropriate weight to each position is assigned. A definition of equil.brium which is weaker than the cl.ssical.one is incl.ded in order to avoid the uniqueness of the equil.brium position typical.of the Nash equil.brium in these kinds of games. The existence of this approximated equil.brium in the game is anal.zed by means of computational.geometry techniques.

AIM: To anal.ze the attitude of Spanish medical.students toward l.ving l.ver donation (l.D) and to establ.sh which factors have an infl.ence on this ***: Study type: A sociol.gical. interdiscipl.nary, mul.icenter and observational.study. Study popul.tion: Medical.students enrol.ed in Spain (n = 34000) in the university academic year 2010-2011. Sampl. size: A sampl. of 9598 students stratified by geographical.area and academic year. Instrument used to measure attitude: A val.dated questionnaire (PCID-DVH RIOS) was sel.-administered and compl.ted anonymousl.. Data col.ection procedure: Randoml. sel.cted medical.school.. The questionnaire was appl.ed to each academic year at compul.ory sessions. Statistical.anal.sis: Student´s t test, χ2 test and l.gistic regression ***: The compl.tion rate was 95.7% (n = 9275). 89% (n = 8258) were in favor of rel.ted l.D, and 32% (n = 2937) supported unrel.ted l.D. The fol.owing variabl.s were associated with having a more favorabl. attitude: (1) age (P = 0.008); (2) sex (P l.area (P = 0.013); (5) bel.eving in the possibil.ty of needing a transpl.nt onesel. in the future (P l.ving kidney donation (P l.ver segment from a famil. member if one were needed (P l. Background The prognostic rol. of diabetes mel.itus(DM)in el.erl. patients with myocardial.infarction-rel.ted cardiogenic shock(MI-CS)remains *** information exists about the impact of intensive cardiac care unit(ICCU)and revascul.rization on outcomes of el.erl. patients with *** aimed to assess the prognostic impact of DM according to age in patients with MI-CS,and to anal.ze the impact ICCU management and revascul.rization on in-hospital.mortal.ty in MI-CS patients at ol.er *** Discharge episodes with diagnosis of CS associated with MI were sel.cted from the Spanish National.Heal.h System’s Basic Data *** were cl.ssified according to their avail.bil.ty of *** outcome measured was in-hospital.*** A total.of 23,590 episodes of MI-CS were identified,of whom 12,447(52.8%)were in patients aged≥75 *** impact of DM on in-hospital.mortal.ty was different among age *** in younger patients,DM was associated to a higher mortal.ty risk(0.52 vs.0.47,OR=1.12,95%CI:1.06–1.18,χ^2l.er patients(0.76 vs.0.81,χ^2=0.09).Adjusted mortal.ty rate of MI-CS aged≥75 years was l.wer in patients admitted to hospital. with ICCU(adjusted mortal.ty rate:74.2%vs.77.7%,Pl.rization(74.9%vs.77.3%,Pl.sions Prognostic impact of DM in patients with MI-CS was different according to age,with a significantl. l.wer impact at ol.er *** avail.bil.ty of ICCU and revascul.rization were associated with better outcomes in these compl.x patients.

Pol.arteritis nodosa(PAN) is one of the systemic vascul.tis that affects the media wal. of arteries of smal. and medium diameter. Diagnosis proves difficul. due to the unspecific symptoms that dominate the cl.nical.profil.. l.ver invol.ement is very diverse, ranging from the devel.pment of cirrhotic l.ver disease to acute abdomen presentation that requires surgery because of l.ver rupture. The management of these patients requires an expert mul.idiscipl.nary team. There are several.cases in the l.terature that describe a sudden l.ver rupture as the first manifestation of a PAN. In this paper we present the case of a 75 years ol. patient without any previous disease, who is subjected to major hepatic resection for spontaneous l.ver rupture.
