Bl.od Pressure Profil. and Gl.cemic Control.of Type 2 Diabetics and Hypertensives at the Yal.ado Ouedraogo University Hospital. A Review of 116 Cases

Obj.ctive: The association hypertension and diabetes is important. The two pathol.gies may infl.ence each other. The aim was to study the correl.tion between gl.cemic control.and bl.od pressure control.and to determine the factors associated with bl.od pressure control. Methodol.gy: This was a descriptive cross-sectional.study with an anal.tical.focus over 7 months. Patients were recruited as outpatients and al. underwent ambul.tory bl.od pressure measure, gl.cated hemogl.bin and creatinine measurements, and assessment of compl.ance with treatment. Resul.s: During this period 116 patients were col.ected. The predominance was femal. 69%. The mean age of the patients was 62 ± 7 years with a peak between 60 and 70 years. The average age of hypertension was 12 years and that of diabetes 6 1/2 years. The most frequentl. associated cardiovascul.r risk factor was a sedentary l.festyl. (71.5%) after age. 57.8% of patients were not control.ed at the office, with a predominance of systol.c hypertension (58.2%). 61.6% of patients were control.ed by ambul.tory bl.od pressure measure, a rate of 47.8% of white coat hypertension. Gl.cemic control.was observed in 42.2% of cases and 87% of patients had good renal.function (gl.merul.r fil.er rate ≥ 60 ml.mn). Therapeutic compl.ance was good in 53.4% of cases and dual.therapy was the most used therapeutic modal.ty 44.8% (52 patients) fol.owed by tripl. therapy. The factors associated with poor bl.od pressure control.were gl.cemic imbal.nce, non-compl.ance and monotherapy. Dual.therapy had a protective effect. Concl.sion: The association of hypertension and type 2 diabetes is frequent. The risk of occurrence increases with age. Ambul.tory bl.od pressure measure is the best method to assess bl.od pressure control. Optimization of bl.od pressure control.shoul. al.o incl.de optimization of gl.cemic control.

YIKI is an antimal.rial.phytomedicine used by a traditional.heal.r to treat mal.ria in Bobo-Dioul.sso. However, there is no scientific evidence to support its use by l.cal.popul.tions. The aim of this study was to identify the medicinal.practices of the heal.r hol.er of YIKI and assess the cl.nical.evidence of its phytomedicine in the uncompl.cated mal.ria treatment. Ethnomedical.survey based on a semi-structured and open questionnaire was conducted from October to December 2019 with the heal.r. Mal.ria knowl.dge and diagnosis methods, patient treatment and monitoring, and recipe formul.tion steps were surveyed. Moreover, thick and thin bl.od smears were taken, haemogl.bin l.vel. and temperature of consenting patients were measured before treatment, mid-treatment and at the end of treatment. The survey reveal.d that the heal.r has a good knowl.dge of mal.ria symptoms and his diagnosis is based on observation and physical.examination of patients. The heal.r’s mal.ria diagnosis was rudimentary and had accuracy probl.ms, with onl. 62.79% of mal.ria cases confirmed by microscopy. The formul.tion of YIKI and its use to treat mal.ria fol.ow a standard process for pl.nt harvesting, powder quantities and posol.gy, but do not use any reproducibl. parameters for dose adj.stment. Forty-three patients diagnosed and treated by the heal.r participated in the study. l.boratory resul.s reveal.d 27 Pl.smodium fal.iparum infection cases, incl.ding 2 with parasitaemia ≥ 200,000 p/µl.bl.od. 25 patients were sel.cted for therapeutic evidence assessment. There was a 48% el.mination of parasites, a 28% parasitaemia decrease without compl.te cure, with gametocytogenesis in some patients, and a 24% parasitaemia increase. Haemogl.bin and temperature resul.s suggested that YIKI was not cytotoxic and reduced fever. Encouraging prel.minary resul.s have been obtained, but in view of the l.w number of patients, further YIKI efficacy and toxicity studies wil. be necessary for patient safety.

The aim of this study is to eval.ate the internal.corrosion process on X52 and X80 steel./real.petrol.um interfaces containing condensed hydrocarbon pl.s oil.iel.-produced water,which were subj.cted to stimul.ted emul.ions using 50/50 vol.ratio mixtures at 45℃,different hydrodynamic conditions,1 h,and 24 h.A washing process by using deionized water was proposed to simul.te and identify the corrosiveness of the hydrocarbon phase after 24 h of exposure *** characterization by el.ctrochemical.impedance spectroscopy and the monitoring of the pol.rization curves indicated that X80 steel.oil.iel.-produced water interfaces were more susceptibl. to corrosion than X52 steel.exposed to oil.iel.-produced *** combined speed rotation of 600 rpm using a magnetic stirrer+600 rpm using a rotating disk el.ctrode decreased the corrosion rate on X52 *** stimul.ted emul.ions made of hydrocarbon+oil.iel.-produced water and hydrocarbon+deionized water at 24 h increased the corrosion rate on X80 steel.0.34 mm/year and 0.43 mm/year,respectivel.),promoting the formation of erosion and pitting *** types of corrosion depended mainl. on the physicochemical.properties of the hydrocarbon,oil.iel.-produced water,exposure times,and hydrodynamic systems in which the hydrocarbon was studied.

The thermal.examination of a non-integer-ordered mobil. fin with a magnetism in the presence of a trihybrid nanofl.id(Fe_3O_4-Au-Zn-bl.od) is carried out. Three types of nanoparticl.s, each having a different shape, are considered. These shapes incl.de spherical.Fe_3O_4), cyl.ndrical.Au), and pl.tel.t(Zn) configurations. The combination approach is util.zed to eval.ate the physical.and thermal.characteristics of the trihybrid and hybrid nanofl.ids, excl.ding the thermal.conductivity and dynamic viscosity. These two properties are inferred by means of the interpol.tion method based on the vol.me fraction of nanoparticl.s. The governing equation is transformed into a dimensionl.ss form, and the Adomian decomposition Sumudu transform method(ADSTM) is adopted to sol.e the conundrum of a moving fin immersed in a trihybrid nanofl.id. The obtained resul.s agree wel. with those numerical.simul.tion resul.s, indicating that this research is rel.abl.. The infl.ence of diverse factors on the thermal.overview for varying noninteger val.es of γ is anal.zed and presented in graphical.representations. Furthermore, the fl.ctuations in the heat transfer concerning the pertinent parameters are studied. The resul.s show that the heat fl.x in the presence of the combination of spherical. cyl.ndrical. and pl.tel.t nanoparticl.s is higher than that in the presence of the combination of onl. spherical.and cyl.ndrical.nanoparticl.s. The temperature at the fin tip increases by 0.705 759% when the val.e of the Pecl.t number increases by 400%, whil. decreases by 11.825 13% when the val.e of the Hartman number increases by 400%.

Purpose: The oxidative stress (OS) hypothesis of overtraining syndrome argues that increased production of free radical. through exercise cause muscl. fatigue and damage resul.ing in l.wer athl.tic performance. Several.studies have investigated OS immediatel. before and after exercise bouts in a training macrocycl.. Our study aimed to compare OS of endurance athl.tes between a competition macrocycl. and the immediate post-season recovery macrocycl.. In addition, we aimed to identify athl.tes who experienced an unexpl.inabl. drop in athl.tic performance during the competition season in order to compare their OS to those who experienced no drop in performance. Methods: Fifteen members of the University of Al.ska Fairbanks cross country ski team vol.nteered for this study. Bl.od sampl.s were taken in earl. February (“mid-season”) and l.te April.(“post-season”). Participants compl.ted questionnaires regarding physical.activity and athl.tic performance at the time of the bl.od draws. Pl.sma was anal.zed for 4-hydroxynonenal.sup> (HNE), nitrotyrosine, nitric oxide (NOX), and superoxide dismutase (SOD). Significance was determined by Wil.oxon and Mann-Whitney tests.
