Background: Postoperative early recurrence(ER) in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC) is frequently encountered after curative intent surgery. Nonetheless, clinical significance and risk factors of ER after surgery for PDAC have not been extensively investigated. The aim of this study was to determine preoperative risk predictors for ER in patients with PDAC after upfront surgery. Methods: Eighty-one consecutive patients with PDAC who underwent curative intent surgical resection at Kangbuk Samsung Hospital between January 2004 and May 2015 were enrolled. ER was defined as tumor relapse within 6 months after surgery. Results: ER occurred in 26 patients(32.1%), whereas 49 patients(60.5%) had late recurrence( ≥ 6 months after surgery), and 6 patients had no recurrence(7.4%). Univariate analysis showed that C-reactive protein(CRP) > 3.0 mg/dL, modified Glasgow prognostic score(mGPS) = 2, decrease of total lymphocyte count by > 50% of baseline value in the preoperative period, prognostic nutritional index(PNI) 3.0 mg/dL, decrease of total lymphocyte count by > 50% of baseline value, and preoperative SUVmax were significant and independent contributors of ER in patients with resectable PDAC who underwent curative intent surgery. Conclusions: Postoperative ER for resectable PDAC was frequent with poor prognosis after curative intent upfront surgery. It is reasonable to suggest that there is a subgroup of resectable PDAC patients at highrisk of ER and neoadjuvant therapy should be considered in these patients in a clinical trial setting.

With the increase in silver（Ag）-based products in our lives, it is essential to test the potential toxicity of silver nanoparticles（Ag NPs） and silver ions（Ag ions） on living organisms under various conditions. Here, we investigated the toxicity of Ag NPs with Ag ions to Escherichia coli K-12 strain under various conditions. We observed that both Ag NPs and Ag ions display antibacterial activities, and that Ag ions had higher toxicity to E. coli K-12 strain than Ag NPs under the same concentrations. To understand the toxicity of Ag NPs at a cellular level, reactive oxygen species（ROS） enzymes were detected for use as antioxidant enzymatic biomarkers. We have also studied the toxicity of Ag NPs and Ag ions under various coexistence conditions including： fixed total concentration, with a varied the ratio of Ag NPs to Ag ions; fixed the Ag NPs concentration and then increased the Ag ions concentration; fixed Ag ions concentration and then increasing the Ag NPs *** to Ag NPs and Ag ions clearly had synergistic toxicity; however, decreased toxicity（for a fixed Ag NPs concentration of 5 mg/L, after increasing the Ag ions concentration） to E. coli K-12 strain. Ag NPs and Ag ions in the presence of L-cysteine accelerated the bacterial cell growth rate, thereby reducing the bioavailability of Ag ions released from Ag NPs under the single and coexistence conditions. The shear deformable thin-walled composite beams with closed cross-sections have been developed for coupled flexural, torsional, and buckling analyses. A theoretical model applicable to the thin-walled laminated composite box beams is presented by taking into account all the structural couplings coming from the material anisotropy and the shear deformation effects. The current composite beam includes the transverse shear and the restrained warping induced shear deformation by using the first-order shear deformation beam theory. Seven governing equations are derived for the coupled axial-flexural-torsional-shearing buckling based on the principle of minimum total potential energy. Based on the present analytical model, three different types of finite composite beam elements, namely, linear, quadratic and cubic elements are developed to analyze the flexural, torsional, and buckling problems. In order to demonstrate the accuracy and superiority of the beam theory and the finite beam elements developed by this study,numerical solutions are presented and compared with the results obtained by other researchers and the detailed threedimensional analysis results using the shell elements of ABAQUS. Especially, the influences of the modulus ratio and the simplified assumptions in stress-strain relations on the deflection, twisting angle, and critical buckling loads of composite box beams are investigated.

BACKGROUND Intramuscular corticosteroid injection may cause adverse effects such as dermal and/or subcutaneous atrophy,alopecia,hypopigmentation,and *** cutaneous atrophy can spontaneously resolve,several treatment options have been suggested for this *** SUMMARY In this paper,we report a case of corticosteroid injection induced lipoatrophy treated with autologous whole blood(AWB)injection,as the condition had been unresponsive to fractional laser therapy.A 29-year-old female patient visited the dermatology clinic complaining of skin depression on her right buttock area,which had appeared six months *** had been only subtle improvement at the margins after fractional CO_(2) laser treatment;therefore,after obtaining informed consent from the patient,AWB treatment was *** month after the first AWB injection,the size and depth of the lesion had noticeably improved,and a slight improvement was also observed in *** Close observation is the initial treatment of choice for steroid induced skin atrophy;however,for patients in need of immediate cosmetic improvement,AWB injection may be a safe and cost-effective alternative.
