This review article summarizes the new research in solid-state physical chemistry understanding of the microstructure characteristics of semiconductor tin oxide thin films made in the last years in our group. The work mainly focuses on the fabrication technology of semiconductor tin oxides thin films by using pulsed laser deposition （PLD） as well as the application of this technology on new micro- and nanostructured materials. It is an interdisciplinary work that integrates the areas of physics, chemistry and materials science.

The microstructures and thermodynamic properties of mixed systems comprising pyridinium ionic liquid[HPy][BF_(4)]and acetonitrile at different mole fractions were studied using molecular dynamics simulation in this *** following properties were determined:density,self-diffusion coefficient,excess molar volume,and radial distribution *** results show that with an increase in the mole fraction of[HPy][BF_(4)],the self-diffusion coefficient ***,the excess molar volume initially decreases,reaches a minimum,and then *** rules of radial distribution functions(RDFs)of characteristic atoms are *** increasing the mole fraction of[HPy][BF_(4)],the first peak of the RDFs of HA1-F decreases,while that of CT6-CT6 rises at first and then *** indicates that the solvent molecules affect the polar and non-polar regions of[HPy][BF_(4)]differently.

Compacted clay possesses a low water permeability and has been widely used in geo-environmental facilities such as landfill cover *** studies revealed the potential applications of compacted biochar-amended clay(BAC)as an alternative landfill cover ***,the effects of biochar on the soil water retention curves(SWRCs)of clay at low suction are not *** study can help fill this knowledge gap by measuring the wetting and drying SWRCs of clay and BAC(20%biochar).Soils were compacted in instrumented soil columns and subjected to a wetting and drying cycle,and soil water content and suction were measured along with the soil *** was saturated faster when compared with *** drying,the soil water content of clay at 65 mm depth dropped to almost zero,while about 5%of water was retained in *** showed that biochar increased the soil water retention capacity of compacted clay upon *** showed that biochar-clay composite possesses a higher soil water retention capacity at a low soil suction range(<1000 kPa)compared with clay *** revealed the benefits of using compacted biochar-clay composite as a hydraulic barrier to minimize desiccation-induced cracks and potentially promote its serviceability,especially in arid and semi-arid *** composite is also a carbon sink material that can reduce landfill gas emissions and pollutant leaching.

Background:Assessment of liver fibrosis and steatosis is now almost indispensable in most of the chronic liver diseases in order to determine prognosis and need for treatment,and to monitor disease progression and response to *** biopsy is limited by its invasiveness and patient *** elastography(TE;Fibroscan)is a non-invasive tool with satisfactory accuracy and reproducibility to estimate liver ***&Methods:To review the existing evidence concerning the clinical applications of TE in major liver diseases,including chronic hepatitis B and-C,non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),alcoholic liver disease,primary biliary cirrhosis and primary sclerosing ***:As alanine aminotransferase(ALT)is one of the major confounding factors of liver stiffness in chronic hepatitis B,an ALT-based algorithm has been developed and higher liver stiffness measurements(LSM)cut-off values for different stages of liver fibrosis should be used in patients with elevated ALT levels up to five times the upper limit of ***,falsely-high LSM results up to the cirrhotic range may occur during ALT *** is also useful predicting patient prognosis in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),portal hypertension,postoperative complications in HCC patients and ***,failed acquisition of TE is common in obese ***,obese patients may have higher LSM results,even in the same stage of liver *** better evaluate NAFLD a new XL probe,with a larger probe with lower ultrasound frequency and deeper penetration,increases the success rate of TE in obese *** median LSM value with the XL probe was found to be lower than that by the conventional M probe,hence cut-off values were approximately 1.2 to 1.3 kilopascals lower than those of the M probe,suggesting its *** reveal that a novel ultrasonic controlled attenuation parameter is potentially useful to detect and quantify

An integrated two-dimensional depth-average numerical model was developed to simulate hydrodynamics and to track the fate and transport of contaminants in the Erh-Chung Flood Way wetland in northern *** model was calibrated and verified with field data collected from Nov. 8,2002 to April 13,*** RMA2 and TOXIWASP models were configured for the wetland system to model mass transport,suspended sediment as well as heavy *** results from the RMA2 model were used to develop mass transport for the TOXIWASP model in the wetland *** results mimic the field data for suspended sediment and heavy *** of model sensitivity analyses show that the partition coefficient is a key parameter for the fate and transport of heavy metals in the wetland system.

A Wideband Self-Decoupled Microstrip Patch Antenna Array Using Characteristic Modes of Ground Plane

The reduction of mutual coupling between antenna elements has been a research hotspot in the design of multi-input multi-output(MIMO) *** this paper, a review of the existing theory of characteristic mode(TCM) based decoupling methods is introduced, and they are summarized and divided into two categories according to mechanisms. The first category consists of the use of the modal properties of the radiator whereas the second one is based on the ground plane to enhance isolation. Moreover, a wideband self-decoupling method is implemented for the MIMO microstrip patch antenna(MPA) array using the characteristic modes(CMs) of the ground plane. It is found that, by adjusting the dimension of the ground plane, their CMs along with two or three null-field regions, can be excited by the active MPA. When the feeding position of the adjacent passive MPA is arranged in the null-field region, the energy cannot be coupled with the receiving port, thereby achieving a good isolation level. For verification, a prototype of the proposed MIMO MPA array has been fabricated and tested. The results show that a wide usable bandwidth of 24.2% has been achieved.
