The Brazilian Tropical Moist Forest Biome(BTMFB)spans almost 4 million km^(2) and is subject to extensive annual fires that have been categorized into deforestation,maintenance,and forest fire *** on fire types is important as they have different atmospheric emissions and ecological impacts.A supervised classification methodology is presented to classify the fire type of MODerate resolution Imaging spectroradiometer(MODIs)active fire detections using training data defined by consideration of Brazilian government forest monitoring program annual land cover maps,and using predictor variables concerned with fuel flammability,fuel load,fire behavior,fire seasonality,fire annual frequency,proximity to surface transportation,and local *** fire seasonality,local temperature,and fuel flammability were the most influential on the *** fire type results for all 1.6 million MODIs Terra and Aqua BTMFB active fire detections over eight years(2003–2010)are presented with an overall fire type classification accuracy of 90.9%(kappa 0.824).The fire type user’s and producer’s classification accuracies were respectively 92.4%and 94.4%(maintenance fires),88.4%and 87.5%(forest fires),and,88.7%and 75.0%(deforestation fires).The spatial and temporal distribution of the classified fire types are presented and are similar to patterns reported in the available recent literature.

This article deals with the investigation of the effects of porosity distributions on nonlinear free vibration and transient analysis of porous functionally graded skew(PFGs)*** effective material properties of the PFGs plates are obtained from the modified power-law equations in which gradation varies through the thickness of the PFGs plate.A nonlinear finite element(FE)formulation for the overall PFGs plate is derived by adopting first-order shear deformation theory(FsDT)in conjunction with von Karman’s nonlinear strain displacement *** governing equations of the PFGs plate are derived using the principle of virtual *** direct iterative method and Newmark’s integration technique are espoused to solve nonlinear mathematical *** influences of the porosity distributions and porosity parameter indices on the nonlinear frequency responses of the PFGs plate for different skew angles are studied in various *** effects of volume fraction grading index and skew angle on the plate’s nonlinear dynamic responses for various porosity distributions are illustrated in detail.

PEO coatings were synthesized from phosphate-based (bP-PEO) and glycerol added phosphate-based (gP-PEO) electrolytes with differentprocessing times. For both bP-PEO and gP-PEO coatings treated with different processing time its morphology, elemental and phase composition,and electrochemical behaviour has been comparatively investigated. For this, scanning electron microscope (sEM), energy-dispersiveX-ray spectroscopy (EDXs), X-ray diffraction, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIs), and potentiodynamic polarization techniqueswere employed. The gP-PEO coatings were observed to have higher pore density with reduced pores size, surface porosity, and averagecoating thickness compared to bP-PEO for all the PEO processing time. XRD studies revealed that glycerol addition resulted in the fosteringof crystalline MgO (periclase) phase and promoting Mg3(PO4)2 (farringtonite) phase amorphization. In general, electrochemical behaviourshowed improved corrosion behaviour for gP-PEO compared to bP-PEO.

An innovative and uniform framework based on a combination of Gabor wavelets with principal component analysis （PCA） and multiple discriminant analysis （MDA） is presented in this paper. In this framework, features are extracted from the optimal random image components using greedy approach. These feature vectors are then projected to subspaces for dimensionality reduction which is used for solving linear problems. The design of Gabor filters, PCA and MDA are crucial processes used for facial feature extraction. The FERET, ORL and YALE face databases are used to generate the results. Experiments show that optimal random image component selection （ORICs） plus MDA outperforms ORICs and subspace projection approach such as ORICs plus PCA. Our method achieves 96.25%, 99.44% and 100% recognition accuracy on the FERET, ORL and YALE databases for 30% training respectively. This is a considerably improved performance compared with other standard methodologies described in the literature.

Purpose–The purpose of this study is to develop a Turing machine or a finite automaton,which scans the input data tape in the form of DNA sequences and inspires the basic design of a DNA ***/methodology/approach–This model based on a splicing system can solve fuzzy reasoning autonomously by using DNA sequences and human assisted *** hardware consists of class IIs restriction enzyme and T4 DNA ligase while the software consists of double stranded DNA sequences and transition molecules which are capable of encoding fuzzy *** mixing solutions containing these components,the automaton undergoes a cascade of cleaving and splicing cycles to produce the computational result in form of double stranded DNA sequence representing automaton’s final ***–In this work,the authors have fused the idea of a splicing system with the automata theory to develop fuzzy molecular automaton in which 1,018 processors can work in parallel,requiring a trillion times less space for information storage,is 105 times faster than the existing super computer and 1,019 power operations can be performed using one Joule of ***/value–This paper presents a generalized model for biologically inspired computation in nano scale.

siO2 functional films were deposited on the surface of titanium by plasma assisted chemical vapour deposition(PACVD) and the composition of films was studied by XPs. samples deposited with siO2 films were immersed in different concentration simulated body fluid(sBF) for biomimetic deposition of hydroxyapatite(HA). The results show that siO2 functional films deposited on titanium surface with PACVD have good bioactivity. Hydroxyapatite is formed while titanium coated with siO2 is immersed in simulated body fluid for seven days.

This study presents the multifunctional characteristics of multi-walled carbon nanotube(MWCNT)/polypropylene random copolymer(PPR) composites enabled via fused filament fabrication(FFF) under monotonic and quasi-static cyclic compression. Utilizing in-house MWCNT-engineered PPR filament feedstocks, both bulk and cellular composites were realized. The morphological features of nanocomposites were examined via scanning electron microscopy, which reveals that MWCNTs are uniformly dispersed. The uniformly dispersed MWCNTs forms an electrically conductive network within the PPR matrix, and the resulting nanocomposite shows good electrical conductivity(~10^(-1)s/cm), improved mechanical performance(modulus increases by 125% and compressive strength increases by 25% for 8 wt% MWCNT loading) and pronounced piezoresistive response(gauge factor of 27.9-8.5 for bulk samples)under compression. The influence of strain rate on the piezoresistive response of bulk samples(4 wt% of MWCNT) under compression was also measured. Under repeated cyclic compression(2% constant strain amplitude), the nanocomposite exhibited stable piezoresistive performance up to 100 cycles. The piezoresistive response under repeated cyclic loading with increasing strain amplitude of was also *** gauge factor of BCC and FCC cellular composites(4 wt% of MWCNT) with a relative density of 30%was observed to be 46.4 and 30.2 respectively, under compression. The higher sensitivity of the BCC plate-lattice could be attributed to its higher degree of stretching-dominated deformation behavior than the FCC plate-lattice, which exhibits bending-dominated behavior. The 3D printed cellular PPR/MWCNT composites structures were found to show excellent piezoresistive self-sensing characteristics and open new avenues for in situ structural health monitoring in various applications.
