First prospective European study for the feasibility and safety of magnetically controlled capsule endoscopy in gastric mucosal abnormalities

Effect of pediatric Tuina on children's recurrent acute respiratory tract infections: a retrospective cohort study in Southern China

OBJECTIVE: To determine the effectiveness of pediatric Tuina(PT) in preventing recurrent acute respiratory tract infections(ARTIs) in children. METHODS: This is a retrospective cohort study based on the electronic medical records of children with recurrent ARTIs in 2016. Children were divided into a PT group or a non-PT group, according to whether they had received PT or not in 2016. The primary outcome was the number of ARTI episodes in 2017 and 2018. The secondary outcomes were the number of ARTIs leading to outpatient department visits and outpatient antibiotic prescriptions due to ARTIs in the same time period. Negative binomial regressions were used to detect the association between PT and the outcomes. RESULTS: A total of 2303 children were included in the analysis, including 94 in the PT group and 2209 in the non-PT group. Children who received PT six or more times in 2016 had fewer episodes of ARTIs in 2017 [incidence rate ratio(IRR): 0.59, 95% confidence interval(CI)(0.42-0.84)] and 2018 [IRR: 0.58, 95% CI(0.36-0.94)] and fewer outpatient department visits due to ARTIs in 2017 [IRR: 0.56, 95% CI(0.38-0.83)] than children who had not received PT in 2016. There was no significant difference in the number of outpatient antibiotic prescriptions between the two groups. CONCLUSIONS: Receiving PT six or more times within one year is associated with a decrease in recurrent ARTIs in children in the following two years. Randomized controlled trials are needed for effect evaluation prior to establishing PT as a method for preventing recurrent ARTIs among children.

Phosphorus accumulation and leaching risk of greenhouse vegetable soils in Southeast China

Over-fertilization has caused significant phosphorus(P)accumulation in Chinese greenhouse vegetable production(GVP)*** study,for the first time,quantified profile P accumulation directly from soil P measurements,as well as subsoil P immobilization,in three alkaline coarse-textured GVP soil profiles with 5(S5),15(S15),and 30(S30)years of cultivation in Tongshan,Southeast *** each profile,soil samples were collected at depths of 0-10(topsoil),10-20,20-40,40-60,60-80,and 80-100 *** accumulation was estimated from the difference in P contents between topsoil and parent material(60-100 cm subsoil).Phosphorus mobility was assessed from measurements of water-soluble P concentration(P_(Sol)).Finally,P sorption isotherms were produced using a batch sorption experiment and fitted using a modified Langmuir *** total P contents of 1980(S5),3190(S15),and 2330(S30)mg kg^(-1) were measured in the topsoils versus lower total P content of approximately 600 mg kg^(-1) in the 80-100 cm ***,topsoil PSol values were very high,varying from 6.4 to 17.0 mg L^(-1).The estimated annual P accumulations in the topsoils were 397(S5),212(S15),and 78(S30)kg ha^(-1) year^(-1).Sorption isotherms demonstrated the dominance of P desorption in highly P-saturated topsoils,whereas the amount of adsorbed P increased in the 80-100 cm subsoils with slightly larger P adsorption *** total P adsorption capacity of the 80-100 cm subsoils at a solution P concentration of0.5 mg L^(-1) was 15.7(S5),8.7(S15),and 6.5(S30)kg ha^(-1),demonstrating that subsoils were unable to secure P concentrations in leaching water below 0.5 mg L^(-1) because of their insufficient P-binding capacity.

Intercropping effect on root growth and nitrogen uptake at different nitrogen levels

Roller Shades with Nature Motive Supports WellbeingAmong Patients in a Heart Intensive Unit--Proof ofConcept

Being a patient in a strange and unknown environment is sometimes very stressful. Research has shown that a healthpromoting environment can reduce anxiety and enhance wellbeing and views of nature can support this. This low-cost intervention wasperformed at a heart surgery intensive care *** aim was to use a simple method to improve the health care environment and tomonitor the experiences of patients and staf~ Two patients share the same room at the 1CU. The beds can be separated by roller shadesthat are plain grey and neutral. These were changed to new ones with nature motives. Questionnaires with fixed and open questionswere used for evaluation among patients and staff. Patients treated in an ICU seem to be aware of the surrounding environment even ifthey are severely ill. Both patients and staff stated that the roller shades with motive affected wellbeing in a positive way. An estheticalpleasing environment can contribute to wellbeing even if the effort is small and insignificant. Roller shades with nature motive might bean easy way to improve and strengthen a health promoting environment.
