BACKGROUND Screening for iron deficiency anemia(IDA)is important in managing pediatric patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).Concerns related to adverse reactions may contribute to a reluctance to prescribe intravenous(IV)iron to treat IDA in this *** To track the efficacy and safety of IV iron therapy in treating IDA in pediatric IBD patients admitted to our *** A longitudinal observational cohort study was performed on 236 consecutive pediatric patients admitted to our tertiary IBD care center between September 2017 and December 2019.92 patients met study criteria for IDA,of which 57 received IV iron,17 received oral iron,and 18 were discharged prior to receiving iron *** Patients treated with IV iron during their hospitalization experienced a significant increase of 1.9(±0.2)g/dL in mean(±SE)hemoglobin(Hb)concentration by the first ambulatory follow-up,compared to patients who received oral iron 0.8(±0.3)g/dL or no iron 0.8(±0.3)g/dL(P=0.03).One out of 57(1.8%)patients that received IV iron therapy experienced an adverse *** Our findings demonstrate that treatment with IV iron therapy is safe and efficacious in improving Hb and iron levels in pediatric patients with IDA and active IBD.

In the surface sediment samples collected from 7 transects in the continental shelf region off Karaikkal,Parangipettai,Cuddalore-SIPCOT,Cheyyur,Chennai,Tammenapatanam and Singarayakonda in the southeast coast of India at the depths of 30m,50m,75m,100m,150m and 200m,the petroleum hydrocarbon(PHC) varied from 1.582μg/g(Karaikkal 150m) to 4.065 ug/g (Cheyyur 75m).The correlation between PHC and organic carbon content was not significant. However PHC and mean particle diameter showed significant negative correlation(P<0.01).In Singarayakonda transect,the nature of the sediment was silty at all the depths(except 30m - coarse sand) and consequently the average concentrations of PHC and total organic carbon(TOC)(2.844μg/g and 2.864 mg/g) were *** is attributed to the influence of rivers Krishna,Gundlakamma, Polleru and Uppuino which discharge more sediment besides agricultural runoff and urban sewage. The average concentration of PHC in Cheyyur,Cuddalore - SIPCOT and Parangipettai transects was 2.818,2.332 and 2.324μg/g *** is attributed to the influence of rivers in these areas(Palar, Gaddillam,Uppanar,Vellar and Coleroon) besides Kalpakkam Atomic Power Station and industrial discharges from *** the Canonical Analysis of Principal Coordinates(CAP) plot,the first axis explained about 51.84%of the variability and the second 18.67%(totally the first two axes explained 70.51%of the variability).The canonical correlation values of first 2 axes were 0.7497 and 0.5865 *** PHC level observed in the present study was found to be lower than the levels reported from other *** the coastal region in the study area continues to grow in all the dimensions economically,continuous monitoring of PHC is quite essential especially the three fractions pyrolytic,petrogenic and biogeneic fractions of PHC.

生态旅作为增长最快的旅游市场之一,为环境可持续提供了长期的解决方案和稳定的发展战略,越来越受到发展中国家和欠发达国家的关注。尽管如此,生态旅游对于目的地的环境、文化和社会经济具有重要的积极和消极影响,高质量的生态旅游有可能为游客提供优质的自然体验,为保护地创造收入,并且有利于保护环境。虽然生态旅游可以带来许多益处,但生态旅游还未能实现其拟议目标的案例数量也很多,有学者批评指出,大多数的旅游目的地对生态旅游的实际评估很少。本研究旨在评估一个以区域发展战略进行营销的目的地生态旅游状况。印度喀拉拉邦的寂静谷国家公园对现有旅游社区关系及影响进行了评估,喀拉拉邦虽然拥有丰富的自然资源,但却是印度经济落后的地方之一。本研究旨在了解原住民对寂静谷国家公园的态度并对其进行测量,了解原住民的生活及其传统、文化的重要性,并确定发展生态旅游对原住民生活期望的影响因素。鉴于研究性质和新冠疫情的影响,本研究使用定量分析方法,数据来源为问卷数据,并尽可能使用数据源(主要)和方法(问卷)的三角测量以限制个人和方法偏差。寂静谷国家公园案例研究发现,由于生态旅游的发展,当地社区获得了非常好的社会经济效益,寂静谷国家公园接待了大量的游客且收取使用费,虽然基础设施有待完善,但寂静谷国家公园为游客提供了壮观的野生动物和森林风光,并且为游客提供了很好的教育机会。本研究以确定的机会、限制和建议为潜在框架,了解了原住民对寂静谷国家公园的态度,了解了原住民的生活及其传统、文化的重要性,以及发展生态旅游对原住民生活期望的影响因素,本研究的结果和建议可以告知原住民对寂静谷国家公园的态度,进而让我们对生态旅游发展于印度寂静谷国家公园原住民生活的影响有更为清晰地了解。

We collected 3 596 Metapenaeopsis stridulans (Decapoda: Penaeidae) from the southeast coast of India between January and December 2007. Sixty three specimens (43 females and 18 males) were parasitized by the bopyrid isopod Epipenaeon ingens (Isopoda: Bopyridae). This is the first report of the occurrence of E. ingens in this host; therefore, it was considered as a new host record. The highest level of infestation (3.2%) occurred in October 2007, coincident with observations of gravid females (9). The total prevalence and presence of gravid females were 17.46% and 28%, respectively. Infestation caused a characteristic bulge of the branchial chamber, growth retardation, and degeneration of the sex organs, but had no effect on the host weight.

Objective： To identify the free radical scavenging activity of ethanolic extract of Evolvulus alsinoides. Methods： The free radical scavenging activity was evaluated by in vitro methods like reducing power assay, total antioxidant activity, 2,2-diphenyl-l-picrylhydrazyl （DPPH） reduction, superoxide radical scavenging activity, 2,2＇-azinobis-（3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid）（ABTS＊） scavenging activity, hydroxyl radical scavenging assay, and nitric oxide radical scavenging assay, which were studied by using ascorbic acid as standard. Results： The extract showed significant activities in all antioxidant assays compared with the reference antioxidant ascorbic acid. The total antioxidant activity as well as the reducing power was also found to increase in a dose-dependent manner. Conclusion： Evolvulus alsinoides may act as a chemopreventive agent, providing antioxidant properties and offering effective protection from free radicals.

AIM: Many oxidative stress-related diseases occur as a result of the accumulation of free radicals in the body. Free radicals are generated by various endogenous systems, exposure to different physiochemical conditions, or pathological states. A balance between free radicals and antioxidants is necessary for appropriate physiological function. A lot of studies are going on worldwide directed towards finding natural antioxidants of plant origin. FTIR spectroscopy is used to develop a rapid and effective analytical method for studying the main constituents in medicinal plants. The chemical constituents in the plants were identified and monitored for their medicinal properties. The aim of this study was to evaluate the in vitro antioxidant activities and FTIR spectroscopic analysis of the ethanolic extract of Evolvulus alsinoides. METHOD: Free radical scavenging activity of ethanolic extract of the whole plant of E. alsinoides was evaluated by in vitro methods, including total antioxidant assay(FRAP method) and hydrogen peroxide scavenging activity using ascorbic acid as a standard. The degree of lipid peroxidation was examined by estimating the thiobarbituric acid reactive substances(TBARS) using standard methods and the functional groups were analyzed using FTIR spectroscopy. The IR spectrum in the mid-infrared region 4 000–400 cm–1 was used for discriminatio and to identify various functional groups present in E. alsinoides. RESULTS: The findings indicated the presence of amino acids, amides, amines, carboxylic acids, carbonyl compounds, organic hydrocarbons, and halogens in the ethanolic extract of E. alsinoides, and the antioxidant activities were significantly increased, when compared with the standard antioxidant ascorbic acid, in a dose-dependent manner. CONCLUSION: The findings indicated promising antioxidant activity of the crude extract of E. alsinoides, and needs further exploration for their potential effective use.

Plants and plant-based products are the bases of many modern pharmaceuticals that are current in use today for various *** aim of the study was to investigate the biochemical constituents and high performance thin layer chromatography（HPTLC） finger printing of the ethanolic extract of Evolvulus *** screening was done by standard procedures and HPTLC method was also established to analyze alkaloids,flavonoids and phenolic compounds from the ethanolic extract of Evolvulus *** phytochemical screening showed that ethanol extracted more secondary metabolites than other *** fingerprinting analysis showed the presence of various alkaloids,flavonoids and phenols（quercetin） in the ethanolic *** can be concluded that Evolvulus alsinoides may serve as a source of potent antioxidants that may be used in the prevention of various diseases such as cancer,diabetes and cardiovascular diseases due to the presence of phenolic *** finger print of Evolvulus alsinoides may be useful in the differentiation of the species from adulterants and act as a biochemical marker for this medicinally important plant in the pharmaceutical industry and plant systematic studies.
