Superlubricity enabled dry transfer of non-encapsulated graphene

Transferring high-quality exfoliated graphene flakes onto different substrates while keeping the graphene free of polymer residues is of great importance, but at the same time very challenging. Currently, the only feasible way is the so-called all-dry "pick-and-lift" method, in which a hexagonal boron nitride(hBN) flake is employed to serve as a stamp to pick up graphene from one substrate and to lift it down onto another substrate. The transferred graphene samples, however,are always covered or encapsulated by hBN flakes, which leads to difficulties in further characterizations. Here, we report an improved "pick-and-lift" method, which allows ultra-clean graphene flakes to be transferred onto a variety of substrates without hBN coverage. Basically, by exploiting the superlubricity at the graphene/hBN stack interface, we are able to remove the top-layer hBN stamp by applying a tangential force and expose the underneath graphene.

An innovative in-flight glass melting technology with induced thermal plasmas was developed for the purpose of energy conservation and environmental protection. Two-dimensional modeling was used to simulate the thermofluid fields in the plasma torch. The in-flight melting behavior of glass raw material was investigated by various analysis methods. Results showed that the plasma temperature was up to 10000 K with a maximum velocity over 30 m/s, which made it possible to melt the granulated glass raw material within milliseconds. The carbonates in the raw material decomposed completely and the compounds in the raw material attainted 100% vitrification during the in-flight time from the nozzle exit to substrate. The particle melting process is similar to the unreacted-core shrinking model.

Hydrocarbon-Degrading Bacteria and Paraffin from Polluted Seashores 9 Years after the Nakhodka Oil Spill in the Sea of Japan

Pollution of petroleum hydrocarbons, in particular oil spills, has attracted much attention in the past and recent decades. Oil spills influence natural microbial community, and physical and chemical properties of the affected sites. The biodegradation of hydrocarbons by microorganisms is one of the primary ways by which oil spill is eliminated from contaminated sites. One such spill was that of the Russian tanker the Nakhodka that spilled heavy oil into the Sea of Japan on January 2, 1997. The impact of the Nakhodka oil spill resulted in a viscous sticky fluid fouling the shores and affected natural ecosystems. This paper describes the weathering of hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria （genus Pseudomonas） and crystallized organic compounds from the Nakhodka oil spill-polluted seashores after nine years. The Nakhodka oil has hardened and formed crust of crystalline paraffin wax as shown by XRD analysis （0.422, 0.377, and 0.250 nm d-spacing） in association with graphite and calcite after 9 years of bioremediation. Anaerobic reverse side of the oil crust contained numerous coccus typed bacteria associated with halite. The finding of hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria and paraffin wax in the oil crust may have a significant effect on the weathering processes of the Nakhodka oil spill during the 9- year bioremediation.

Au nanoparticles are expected for the media to transfer genes into plants. However, the control of particle size distribution （PSD） and shape of Au nanoparticles is too difficult to design and prepare particles with suitable quality for the gene supporting media. Reduction crystal- lization experiments were performed in aqueous solution in order to clarify the effect of feeding conditions such as feeding profile, feeding rate, and feeding amount on PSD and shape of Au nanopartieles. Ascorbic acid （AsA） was selected as a reducing agent because it is safe for plants. Au particles of 50nm, 50-200nm, and 150-400nm were obtained in batch operation, single-jet, and double-jet, respectively. Moreover, in single-jet and double-jet, the mean size of the obtained Au particles increases with the decrease of feeding rate or the increase of feeding amount. It is concluded that PSD of Au nanoparticles can be controlled in the range of 50-400 nm by changing feeding conditions of AsA and HAuCl4 aqueous solution.

AIM： As tumor markers for pancreatic carcinoma, carcinoembryonic antigen （CEA） and carbohydrate antigen （CA） 19-9 have been used, but the sensitivity and specificity are not enough for the diagnosis of pancreatic carcinoma. METHODS： A novel serum tumor marker, RCAS1, was compared with two conventional serum tumor markers, CEA （highly specific for pancreatic cancer） and CA 19-9 （highly sensitive for pancreatic cancer）, in 48 patients with pancreatic exocrine tumors. RESULTS： When the diagnosis of benign or malignant conditions was examined by one tumor marker, the sensitivity of RCAS1 alone （55%） was higher than that of CEA alone （27%） and the specificity of RCAS1 alone （92%） was greater than that of CA19-9 alone （78%）. When examined by a combination of two markers, the sensitivity of a combination of RCAS1 and CA19-9 （95%） was superior to those of CA19-9 alone （78%）, RCAS1 alone （55%, P = 0.002）, CEA alone （27%）（P〈0.001）, RCAS1 and CEA （59%） and CA19-9 and CEA （82%）. CONCLUSION： These results suggest that the combination of RCAS1 and CA19-9 is highly sensitive for pancreatic carcinoma.

After decades of low year classes,the stock of Japanese sardine(Sardinops melanostictus)has begun to recover since the *** hatch dates and otolith growth rates of age-0 juvenile sardine,which were collected in the subarctic Oyashio waters in autumn 2018,were determined from an otolith microstructure *** sardines were hatched from late January to late April,while mostly in February and *** otolith growth rate increased continuously up to 60 d after hatching and thereafter *** revealed growth rate in a crucial growth period is faster than that reported for juvenile sardines collected in the 1990s,which is coincided with the recent recovery trend of the sardine *** groups with different hatch dates,growth histories,and migration routes were identified using unsupervised random forest clustering *** were considered inshore and offshore migration individuals in accordance with recent *** the offshore group,a high proportion of sardine juveniles hatched late and grew faster in the Kuroshio-Oyashio transitional waters,a finding consistent with the hypothesis of growth-rate-dependent *** finding on the population composition and growth rate of juvenile sardine in the Oyashio waters can be a basis for an improved prediction of their survival and provides us with valuable information on the recruitment processes of this stock during the period of stock recovery.

In recent years,therapies for follicular lymphoma (FL) have steadily improved.A series of phase Ⅲ trials comparing the effect of rituximab with chemotherapy vs chemotherapy alone in treating FL have indicated significant improvements in progression-free survival (PFS) and overall *** studies have found that prolonged response durations and PFS were obtained with maintenance therapy using rituximab or interferon after completion of first line *** patients with relapsed or refractory FL,phase Ⅱ studies have assessed the effectiveness of combination therapies using a Toll-like receptor-9 agonist (1018ISS),oblimersen sodium (a Bcl-2 antisense oligonucleotide),bendamustine,and rituximab,as well as veltuzumab,a new humanized anti-CD20 antibody,and *** addition,the effectiveness of yttrium-90 ibritumomab tiuxetan and iodine-131 tositumomab as radioimmunotherapies has been ***,three phase Ⅲ studies on an idiotype vaccine are near ***,these vaccines,which appeared highly effective in phase Ⅰ and Ⅱ trials,do not appear to result in prolonged *** report will summarize the current knowledge on therapies for treatment of FL,and will conclude with a brief discussion of feasiblefuture options for effective ***,we added descriptions of the management of gastrointestinal FL,which is considered to be controversial because it is rare.
