Analysis of the Physical State and Operation of Hydraulic Infrastructure in the Konni Irrigated Area before Rehabilitation

In Niger, irrigated agriculture constitutes the main alternative for meeting family needs. It is within this framework that the state and its partners have adopted strategies to promote irrigated production sites. This study was carried out on the Konni irrigated perimeter, the objective of which is to analyze the physical state of hydraulic infrastructures and their operation before the rehabilitation of the said perimeter. The methodology adopted consisted, first of all, of documentary research focused on data relating to this scope and our theme to properly guide the collection of data in the field. The field phase was then followed with an observation of hydraulic infrastructures one by one in order to assess their condition. Thus, the collected data was processed and analyzed. The results of this study show a notable deterioration of hydraulic infrastructure which affected the operating yield of the study area, with the development of barely 700 ha out of 1226 ha planned by the basic study for off-season production (57%). Bathymetric measurements showed that the volume of sediment that accumulated in the Zongo Dam is 1.2 million m3, which reduces its initial capacity from 12 million m3 to 10.8 million m3 after 43 years of service. The expansion joints of the feed canal are all in poor condition. 90% of the total length of the tertiary canals are degraded, 82.32% of the panels of the main canal C are degraded and 17.68% are cracked. All crossing structures are blocked between the RN1 and the Zongo dam. Based on this critical situation, it would be essential to consider rehabilitation work on all infrastructure in order to restore the hydraulic and even agronomic performance of the Konni irrigated area.

This work was carried out with the aim of contributing to the treatment of cancer. Cancer is one of the most common causes of death. It constitutes a public health problem. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is one treatment option. This study contributes to the search for photosensitizing molecules used in PDT. Makaluvamines have shown interesting properties in the treatment of several human cancer cell lines. The present study analyzes the ultraviolet and visible absorption spectroscopic properties of a few Makaluvamines. These have been listed in the literature and can be in neutral or charged states (protonated and methylated). The investigation is based on quantum chemical calculations. Molecular geometries and vibrational frequencies have been calculated at the B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) level. Absorption properties in the visible and ultraviolet spectral range are measured on optimized structures using time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT). The absorption spectra are obtained using the “Chemissian” software. The results of our calculations have allowed us to determine the absorption zones of the molecules studied, the energy gaps of the frontier orbitals, the main transitions associated with the absorption process, and their lifetimes. They have also identified four Makaluvamines (E, G, M, and L) that absorb in the therapeutic domain and may have photosensitizer properties.

This study aims to explore the unconscious motivations underlying migration in Niger, with an emphasis on understanding the phenomenon of pathological travel. Its aim is to identify the unconscious factors of pathological travel among migrants. Pathological travel, as discussed in the scientific literature on psychopathology, is characterised by movements initiated under the influence of delusions, hallucinations or other serious psychiatric disorders. The aim of this research is to contribute to our understanding of how these unconscious factors influence migration decisions. Using a retrospective analysis of five cases, this study examines the psychological and psychiatric dimensions of migration, particularly among patients referred to the psychiatry department of the Niamey National Hospital between 2017 and 2018. The five cases analysed, representing 12% of a cohort of 40 migrant patients, suffered from chronic psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia and chronic hallucinatory psychosis. By means of diagnostic interviews and categorical sorting, three main unconscious motivations were identified: the delusional state with themes of filiation and persecution, the hallucinations that dictated the travel behaviour, and the dissociative states manifested by depersonalisation and derealisation. It also emerges from this analysis that pathological travel often involves prolonged journeys on foot and without purpose. Thus, untreated mental illness plays a significant role in shaping and influencing individual and social behaviour. The results of this study have important implications for public health and migration policy. They highlight the need to integrate health assessments into migration management systems, particularly in regions serving as transit hubs for migrants. The research also highlights the need for culturally sensitive psychiatric interventions to address the interaction between pre-existing mental disorders and migration. This study contributes to

This paper presents an exhaustive study of numerical investigations based on three-dimensional finite-element method modelling of several non-ceramic insulators of 69,110 and 230 kV having different internal semi-conductive defects in terms of size and *** internal defects were positioned close to the high-voltage electrode,the ground electrode and at floating *** simulations effected on the distortion of the axial and radial E-field components close to the insulator shank between *** results obtained showed that the radial E-field component is more sensitive to the presence of an internal defect as it shows a greater distortion in presence of the *** was also observed that the E-field component distortion increases with longer internal defect and that this increase is particularly important for a defect at floating ***,it was demonstrated that the length of the insulator,for a defect of constant length,has no significant influence on the E-field component ***,the results demonstrated that the presence of a grading ring,as used on the 230 kV insulator,does not have any influence on the E-field component distortion,independently of the defect position.

Calorimetric measurements in 0.8[xB2O3-（1 - x）SiO2]-0.2Na2O glasses and melts are performed in I-IF calorimetry at 298 K and lead borate calorimetry at 973 K, respectively. Mixing enthalpy is affected by both temperature and composition. At 298 K, the mixing enthalpies are slightly negative and components are miscible at that temperature in the whole composition range. At 973 K, the sign of the mixing enthalpies reflect the tendency to phase separation at silica-rich compositions, which is avoided for kinetic reasons as shown by SEM results. Therefore, one is tempted to consider the quenched 0.8[xB2O3-（1 - x）SiO2-0.20Na2O] glasses and melts as single-phase materials.

The objective of this study was to describe the therapeutic aspects and to evaluate the surgery results of sigmoid Volvulus in the Kati (MALIA) General Surgery Department. Patients and Methods: This was a descriptive study conducted in our General Surgery Department. It took place in two phases for six years: A retrospective phase from January 1st, 2010 to December 31st, 2015 and a prospective phase from January 1st, 2016 to December 31st, 2017. This study has been approved by the Ethics Committee. It’s concerned all the patients operated in the department for colon Volvulus. Results: We collected 70 patients’ files. The Sigmoid Volvulus represented 7.8% of emergency surgery activities and 37.2% of intestinal obstruction. The male sex predominated with 98.57% against 1.43% of the female sex. The average age was 42.11 years old with limits of 18 to 70. The average deadline evolution was 2.53 days with limits of 1 to 3. The sigmoidectomy with immediate anastomosis was performed in 66% of patients, colectomy with 2-times anastomosis: according to Hartman 20% and Bouilly Volkman 11%, detorsion with colopexy 3%. The early morbidity rate was 5.71%. The average duration of hospitalization was 10.8 days with limits of 5 to 40 days. Two deaths were recorded. Conclusion: Sigmoid Volvulus is frequent in young adult sex male in Africa. We did not find any significant difference between the surgical technique and the advent of complications. The Colectomy with immediate anastomosis seems to be ideal to us that anytime the conditions are appropriate.

Introduction: Maternal mortality is a robust indicator of human development. Most of it occurs in developing countries. Objectives: This study aims to determine the factors associated with maternal mortality in Gynecology and Obstetrics Department of Borgou Departmental University Hospital Center (CHUD-B). Study method: Our study took place at Gynecology and Obstetrics Department in Borgou Departmental University Hospital Center. This was a descriptive and analytical case-control study, covering a period of 7 years from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2018. Results: Two hundred and twelve patients have been recruited consisting of 106 deceased women and 106 controls. The intra-hospital mortality ratio was 1100 deaths per 100,000 live births (LB). Carbonates present complex pore systems that strongly influence the physical properties and their interrelationships. This study proposes a new approach to establish pore-type mixing-based permeability transforms by integrating well-log and core data. We investigate the influence of pore-structure heterogeneity on permeability and velocity through the rock-frame flexibility factors (γ and γμ)， derivable using standard sonic and density logs. We derive permeability transforms， with correlation coefficients， R of 0.8 to 0.9， from core measurements and pore-structure variations-dependent physical parameters， namely the porosity exponent (m)， Poisson’s ratio (σ)， velocity deviation log (VDL)， and velocity ratio (VR). Through extrapolation using log-data， the m- and VDL- based correlations provide significantly better permeability estimates， with the highest accuracy attained with the m-based correlation， whereas the VR- and σ- based correlations lead to permeability overestimation for high porosities. We plotted log-derived porosity vs. permeability， obtained applying the m-based correlation， to generate consistent porosity-permeability relationships， which account for pore-structure heterogeneity， by sorting the scattering points into distinct groups/trends by considering the variations of pore-structure types and abundance of a specific porosity. For the studied oilfield， three porosity-permeability relationships are identified， with correlation coefficients approaching 0.9， thus validating the approach and supporting its application in petrophysically similar reservoirs.
