Magnetic and magnetocaloric properties in GdZn_(2) synthesized by ball milling

In this study,we prepared GdZn_(2)by mechanical alloying method and measured its magnetization to reveal the magnetic and magnetocaloric *** a milling time(MT)≥10 and 20 h,the GdZn_(2)phase was confirmed by X-ray diffraction *** MT=40 and 60 h,amorphous like patterns are *** MT=10 and 20 h,magnetization(M)as a function of temperature below 80 K shows ferromagnetic-like *** observed values of M are 4.5μ_(B) at 5 K for MT=10 and 20 h,which is smaller than that of the theoretical expected value of 7μ_(B).For MT=40 and 60 h,the long-range ferromagnetic order collapses because there is no spontaneous *** value ofΔT,whereΔT is the full width at half maximum of the magnetic entropy change(ΔS_(m)(T)),increases significantly for MT≤20 h because of the gradual release of magnetic entropy by the milling *** M decreases with increasing MT,the maximum values of|ΔS_(m)|,the relative cooling power,and the refrigerant capacity also decreases.

Experimental Study of Condensation Heat Transfer on Tube Bundles in Large Power Plant Condensers

In order to clarify the effect of condensate inundation on steam condensation in a large tube bundle, condensation heat transfer and the condensate flow pattern in the tube bundle have been experimentally investigated. Test tube bundle consists of 36 cooling tubes, 12 condensate supply tubes and 24 un-cooled dummy tubes. Cooling test tubes are made of copper and have an outer diameter of 19.1 mm and condensing length of 150 mm, Steam flows horizontally through the test tube bundle at gap velocities 15-27 m/s at pressures of 8.8 kPa. In this study, experimental data about condensate flow pattern and condensation heat transfer in a tube bundle were collected for the optimization of tube arrangement in large power plant condensers.

Human T lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV-1) is endemic in the southern part of Japan. Infection of the virus can cause adult T cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL), while most infected individuals remain in a carrier state for a long period of time. Although rare cases of carriers, like ATL patients, who developed opportunistic infections, have been reported, hematological changes of carriers who are prone to opportunistic infections have not been well defined. Here, we present a case of an HTLV-1 carrier who developed Mycobacterium intracellulare infection and Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PcP) simultaneously. Flow cytometric analysis of bone marrow cells revealed an aberrant compositional change similar to that in ATL patients. This suggests the presence of a pre-ATL state prior to the development of ATL, which is notable in terms of underlying cellular immunodeficiency.

Background:Lenvatinib is used for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma(u-HCC)as first-line,as well as second-and third-line therapy in *** evaluated the therapeutic efficacy of newly developed ramucirumab when given after lenvatinib for post-progression ***:Of 385 patients with u-HCC and treated with lenvatinib at 16 different institutions in Japan between May 2018 and January 2020,28 who received ramucirumab as the next treatment were enrolled and therapeutic responses were evaluated in a retrospective ***:The median age of the 28 patients given ramucirumab was 70 years and the median albumin-bilirubin score *** the 28 patients,23 were male,21 were classified as Child-Pugh A and 7 as Child-Pugh B,and 25 were Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer Stage *** was given as second-line therapy in 14,third-line in 9,and fourth-line in *** response was obtained in only 26 patients;the objective response rate was 3.8%(1/26)and the disease-control rate was 42.3%(11/26),with a median period to progression of 2.0 *** reasons for discontinuation of ramucirumab were progression of disease in 16 and Grade 3 adverse events(gastrointestinal bleeding,ascites)in ***:The anticipated therapeutic efficacy of ramucirumab for post-progression treatment following lenvatinib was not seen in our early experience.
