Aim:To determine the tolerance and acceptance of hepatic venous pressure gradient(HVPG)measurements in patients with liver ***:This prospective international multicenter study included 271 patients with cirrhosis who were scheduled to undergo HVPG measurement between October 2019 and June *** related to the tolerance and acceptance of HVPG measurements were collected using descriptive ***:HVPG measurements were technically successful in all 271 patients,with 141(52.0%)undergoing HVPG measurement *** complication rate was 0.4%.Postoperative pain was significantly lower than preoperative expected pain(p<0.001)and intraoperative pain(p<0.001),and intraoperative pain was also significantly lower than preoperative expected pain(p=0.036).No,mild,moderate,severe,and intolerable discomfort scores were reported by 36.9%,44.6%,11.1%,6.3%,and 0.4%of these patients,respectively,during HVPG measurement and by 54.6%32.5%,11.4%,1.5%,and 0%,respectively,after HVPG *** these patients,39.5%had little understanding and 10%had no understanding of the value of HVPG measurement,with 35.1%and 4.1%regarding HVPG measurements as being of little or no help,*** patients reported that they would definitely(15.5%),probably(46.9%),or possibly(29.9%)choose to undergo additional HVPG measurements again,and 62.7%regarded the cost of the procedure as ***:HVPG measurement was safe and well‐tolerated in patients with cirrhosis,but patient education and communication are warranted to improve the acceptance of this procedure.

In recent years,various information and communication technology(ICT)devices measuring three-dimensional(3D)point cloud data have been developed and widely used for the application of pavement surface ***,ICT devices have generally been developed not only for measuring road surface profiles but for various geo-reference point *** this background,the validation of surface profiles acquired with ICT devices fulfils an important role in proving the reliability of measurement result composed by point *** study proposes a wavelet transform agreement(WTA)which involves a normalization factor of profile amplitude for further improvement in the wavelet-based coherence *** WTA analysis allows evaluating similarity/dissimilarity of two profiles considering both the location and wavelength *** this purpose,a terrestrial laser scanner(TLS),a mobile mapping system(MMS),and an unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)are employed to prove the advantage of WTA in practical *** a result,the advantages of WTA analysis are clearly recognized in the optimization for the measurement interval of TLS,the multi-line measurement of MMS for ride quality improvement of a pavement,and the efficient operation of UAV in terms of the flight *** paper also shows the identification of aging development for surface roughness over time in terms of locations and *** findings help not only to guarantee the accuracy of profile measurements but to realize the sophisticated way of using 3D point clouds acquired with ICT *** outcomes of this study contribute to the increase of productivity for pavement works with improving the quality of surface profile measurement.

Corporations need to improve business processes in order to enhance velocity and service levels while reducing their processing costs and differentiating themselves in the face of competition. The levitation of importance beyond support roles has raised IT investment decisions to high priority in chief executive officers＇ agendas. Corporate planning groups as well as lines of business are increasingly applying techniques of IT applications portfolio management in a more systematic fashion to improve decision-making and resource-allocation processes. Recent advances in software engineering and IT service delivery methodologies have achieved the logical separation of business functions from implementation. This separation has made a new breed of innovative IT project possible with a new project risk structure; the adjustment of portfolio management techniques is appropriate. We present an integrated portfolio management model so that the corporation can focus on organic growth through sources at both the department and top management levels. The research gives clear advice as to how top management can seek economic growth by selecting an entrepreneurial strategic posture, implying a strong risk-taking propensity. By integrating a risk-return model and risk-tolerance paradigm to cope with today＇s risk structure, overall capabilities can improve the decision process and the corporation＇s performance as well. The application of the integrated technique to a Japanese manufacturing firm is described.

Purpose: The association between frailty and delirium has emerged as a research topic. Neurological symptoms have been reported among patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), but its effects on delirium remain unclear. This study aimed to compare the incidence of delirium between patients with COVID-19 and those without COVID-19, and to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 and frailty on delirium. Methods: This retrospective study included patients aged ≥ 20 years who were admitted to our intensive care unit (ICU) between January 2020 and February 2022. An inverse probability of treatment weighting using stabilized inverse propensity scores was adopted to minimize bias. After patient demographics were adjusted, the incidence of delirium, assessed using the Confusion Assessment Method for ICU, was compared between patients with COVID-19 and those without COVID-19. The effects of COVID-19 and the Clinical Frailty Scale score on delirium were analyzed by adjusting some covariates, including the sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) score, using a generalized estimating equation. Results: Among 260 eligible patients, 226 patients were included. The weighted incidence of delirium was 56.9% and 61.9% in patients with and without COVID-19, respectively (p = 0.67). The generalized estimating equation revealed that the odds ratios (95% confidence interval) for COVID-19, the CFS score, and the SOFA score were 1.49 (0.62 - 3.57), 1.46 (1.11 - 1.91), and 1.22 (1.10 - 1.36), respectively. Conclusion: CFS and SOFA scores on ICU admission may be associated with delirium, with no significant difference between patients with COVID-19 and those without COVID-19.

Background: The aims of this study were(a) to ascertain age-related changes in the reference values in hematological and serum biochemical examinations of beagles,and(b) to clarify the changes in these findings, including acute phase proteins and oxidative stress, throughout pregnancy and after ***: Clinicopathological parameters were measured in young beagles at 6, 9 and 12 months and in adult beagles aged from 24 to 60 months. Likewise, pregnant beagles were investigated throughout the pregnancy and after ***: Apparent age-related changes were found in erythrocytic parameters during the growth and development of beagles. Most of the parameters(total protein,albumin, blood urea nitrogen, creatinine, urate, alkaline phosphatase(ALP) and creatine kinase(CK) exhibited age-dependent transitions. White cell count significantly increased after 30 days of pregnancy. The values of erythrocytic parameters moderately decreased during the second half of the pregnancy. Triglycerides, total cholesterol, free cholesterol and phospholipid concentrations increased in the mid- and late stages of pregnancy. ALP, lactate dehydrogenase, CK and cholinesterase activities markedly increased during pregnancy and/or after parturition. C-reactive protein(CRP) concentrations gradually increased and reached a maximum after 30-40 days of pregnancy. Serum amyloid A(SAA) levels markedly increased at 30 days of pregnancy before subsiding, and then increased again 3 days after parturition. Reactive oxygen metabolites(d-ROMs) showed significant increases after 30 and 40 days of ***: Reference values for hematological and serum biochemical examinations should be used for health evaluation of dogs, taking sex, age and the stage of pregnancy into consideration. Measurements of CRP, SAA and d-ROM levels are also useful for assessing maternal conditions in mid-pregnancy.

Noncontact Monitoring of Relative Changes in Blood Pressure Using Microwave Radar Sensors

This study aims to confirm whether noncontact monitoring of relative changes in blood pressure can be estimated using microwave radar sensors. First, an equation to estimate blood pressure was derived, after which, the effectiveness of the estimation equation was confirmed using data obtained by a noncontact method while inducing variations in blood pressure. We considered that the Bramwell-Hill equation, which contains some parameters that directly indicate changes in blood pressure, would be an appropriate reference to construct an estimation equation for the noncontact method, because measurements using microwave radar sensors can measure minute scale motion on the skin surface induced by the pulsation of blood vessels. In order to estimate relative changes in blood pressure, we considered a simple equation including the pulse transit time (PTT), amplitude of signals and body dimensions as parameters. To verify the effectiveness of the equation for estimating changes in blood pressure, two experiments were conducted: a cycling task using an ergometer, which induces blood pressure fluctuations because of changes in cardiac output, and a task using the Valsalva maneuver, which induces blood pressure fluctuations because of changes in vascular resistance. The results obtained from the two experiments suggested that the proposed equation using microwave radar sensors can accurately estimate relative changes of blood pressure. In particular, relatively favorable results were obtained for the changes in blood pressure induced by the changes in cardiac volume. Although many issues remain, this method could be expected to contribute to the continuous evaluation of cardiac function while reducing the burden on patients.

Experimental results from a series of injection tests of pressurized H2, N2 gases into Mach 1.8 airfiows between parallel channel walls through a flush-mounted circular sonic opening have been *** pictures revealed complex interaction flow features including the occurrence of bow/separation shock waves due to the injection as well as the barrel shock/Mach disc structure inside the injected gas stream. The injectant penetration measured by the Mach disc height against the injection pressure showed a good agreement with the correlation curve based upon the "effective back pressure" concept. The reversed flow region beneath the separation shock wave, the injectant wake and its associated flow entraimment were also visualized by the oil paint method. Wall static pressure distributions around the injector were measured in detail, which corresponded very well to the above results of flow *** samplings were also undertaken by using the pressure taps to confirm the presence of H2 gas in the separation region ahead of the injector. Traversing of total pressure and H2 gas concentration at the exit of the test channel showed monotonous increase of the loss while its profile was kept very similar with the injection pressure. The area indicating the loss and the presence of H2 gas almost coincided with each other, which remained to be small to indicate very slow gas mixing/diffusion with the main air flow. With the increase of airflow total temperature to 1200 K, a bulk flame was first observed at the exit section. Further increase up to 1460 K observed an ignition flame at the injector. However,the reflection of the bow shock wave was found to be a more likely trigger of the bulk flame ignition within the test section.
