First-principles calculations have recently been used to develop comprehensive databases of nonmagnetic topological materials that are protected by time-reversal or crystalline ***,owing to the low symmetry requirement of weyl points,a symmetry-based approach to identifying topological states cannot be applied to weyl semimetals(wSMs).To date,wSMs with weyl points in arbitrary positions are absent from the well-known databases.

Fluorescent studies of living plant cells such as confocal microscopy and fluorescence lifetime imaging often suffer from a strong autofluorescent background contribution that significantly reduces the dynamic image contrast and the quantitative access to sub-cellular processes at high spatial resolution. Here, we present a novel technique--fluorescence intensity decay shape analysis microscopy （FIDSAM） to enhance the dynamic contrast of a fluorescence image of at least one order of magnitude. The method is based on the analysis of the shape of the fluorescence intensity decay （fluorescence lifetime curve） and benefits from the fact that the decay patterns of typical fluorescence label dyes strongly differ from emission decay curves of autofluorescent sample areas. Using FIDSAM, we investigated Arabidopsis thaliana hypocotyl cells in their tissue environment, which accumulate an eGFP fusion of the plasma membrane marker protein LTI6b （LTI6b-eGFP） to low level. whereas in conventional confocal fluorescence images, the membranes of neighboring cells can hardly be optically resolved due to the strong autofluorescence of the cell wall, FIDSAM allows for imaging of single, isolated membranes at high spatial resolution. Thus, FIDSAM will enable the sub-cellular analysis of even low-expressed fluorophoretagged proteins in living plant cells. Furthermore, the combination of FIDSAM with fluorescence lifetime imaging provides the basis to study the local physico-chemical environment of fluorophore-tagged biomolecules in living plant cells.

Increased precipitation during the vegetation periods was observed in and further predicted for Inner Mongolia. The changes in the associated soil moisture may affect the biosphere-atmosphere exchange of greenhouse gases. Therefore, we set up an irrigation experiment with one watered （w） and one unwatered plot （Uw） at a winter-grazed Leymus chinensis-steppe site in the Xilin River catchment, Inner Mongolia. Uw only received the natural precipitation of 2005 （129 mm）, whereas w was additionally watered after the precipitation data of 1998 （in total 427 mm）. In the 3-hour resolution, we determined nitrous oxide （N20）, methane （CH4） and carbon dioxide （CO2） fluxes at both plots between May and September 2005, using a fully automated, chamber-based measuring system. N20 fluxes in the steppe were very low, with mean emissions （±s.e.） of 0.9-4-0.5 and 0.7-4-0.5 μg N m^-2 h^-1 at w and Uw, respectively. The steppe soil always served as a CH4 sink, with mean fluxes of -24.1-4-3.9 and -31.1-4- 5.3 μg C m^-2 h^-1 at w and Uw. Nighttime mean CO2 emissions were 82.6±8.7 and 26.3±1.7 mg C m^-2 h^-1 at w and Uw, respectively, coinciding with an almost doubled aboveground plant biomass at w. Our results indicate that the ecosystem CO2 respiration responded sensitively to increased water input during the vegetation period, whereas the effects on CH4 and N2O fluxes were weak, most likely due to the high evapotranspiration and the lack of substrate for N2O producing processes. Based on our results, we hypothesize that with the gradual increase of summertime precipitation in Inner Mongolia, ecosystem CO2 respiration will be enhanced and CH4 uptake by the steppe soils will be lightly inhibited.

Plant receptors constitute a large protein family that regulates various aspects of development and responses to external *** characterization of this protein family and the identification of their ligands remain major challenges in plant ***,we identified plasma membrane-intrinsic sucrose-induced receptor kinase 1(SIRK1)and Qian Shou kinase 1(QSK1)as receptor/co-receptor pair involved in the regulation of aquaporins in response to osmotic conditions induced by *** this study,we identified a member of the elicitor peptide(PEP)family,namely PEP7,as the specific ligand of th receptor kinase ***7 binds to the extracellular domain of SIRK1 with a binding constant of 1.44±0.79μM and is secreted to the apoplasm specifically in response to sucrose *** of a signaling complex involving SIRK1,QSK1,and aquaporins as substrates is mediated by alterations in the external sucrose concentration or by PEP7 ***,the presence of PEP7 induces the phosphorylation of aquaporins in vivo and enhances water influx into *** water influx,in turn,led to delayed lateral root development in the pep7 *** loss-of-function mutant of SIRK1 is not responsive to external PEP7 treatment regarding kinase activity,aquaporin phosphorylation,water influx activity,and lateral root *** together,our data indicate that the PEP7/SIRK1/QSK1 complex represents a crucial perception and response module that mediates sucrose-controlled water flux in plants and lateral root development.

DEAR EDITOR,Currently,the genus Polypedates comprises 26 species distributed in South,Southeast,and East *** of their relatively low dispersal capability and intolerance to seawater,this genus is ideal for the study of terrestrial range evolution that extends into the island archipelagos of southeastern *** this study,based on data compiled for Polypedates from previous studies and partial mitochondrial and nuclear genes collected in this study,we performed systematic biogeographical *** confirmed a Sundaland origin for the extant genus and showed northward dispersal into mainland Southeast Asia and Asia,which coincided with the timing of paleoclimatic change from the Oligocene to Middle *** fluctuations had a profound impact on species diversification within the genus ***,the Red River did not mediate species exchange between Southeast Asia and mainland Asia until the end of the Miocene,with the sudden onset of northward dispersal in several clades independently at that ***,the lineage of widespread insular *** strongly supports the hypothesis of terrestrial connection between island archipelagos of Southeast Asia during the Mid-Pleistocene paleoclimate *** biogeographical analysis also supports the recent introduction of *** to the Philippines and Ryukyus,as previously suggested.

　　Compared with the oceanic crust, knowledge about the formation of the continental crust (CC) is relatively poor. Although melting of subducted slabs in the early history of the Earth has been considered as the major way that shaped the chemical characteristics of the CC by most geologists, as the CC shares many characteristics with modern adakites, some geologists argued that Archean TTG was formed in the same way as modern arcs rather than slab melting, whereas others proposed that melting at the bottom of the thickened oceanic crust was more important.
