The role of vasoepididymostomy for treatment of obstructive azoospermia in the era of in vitro fertilization:a systematic review and meta-analysis

This study comprises a systematic review and meta-analysis of micmsurgical vasoepididymostomy outcomes in epididymal obstructive azoospermia.A comprehensive literature search was performed using Medline,Embase,and the Cochrane library that included all studies related to microsurgical *** included “vasoepididymostomy,”“epididymovasostomy,”“epididymal obstruction,”and “epididymis obstruction.”Event rate and risk ratio (RR)were *** rate and pregnancy rate were *** analysis comprised 1422 articles,including 42 observational studies with 2298 enrolled patients performed from November 1978 to January *** overall mean patency rate was 64.1%(95%confidence interval [CI]:58.5%-69.3%;F=83.0%),and the overall mean pregnancy rate was 31.1%(95%CI:26.9%-35.7%;I^2=73.0%).We performed a meta-analysis comparing the patency rate of bilateral microsurgical vasoepididymostomy and unilateral microsurgical vasoepididymostomy and found an RR of 1.38%(95%CI: 1.21%-1.57%;P <0.00001).A comparison of the site of microsurgical vasoepididymostomy showed that caudal or corpus area was favorable for patency rate (RR =1.17%;95%CI: 1.01%-1.35%;P =0.04).Patients with motile sperm in epididymal fluid exhibited an RR of 1.53%(95%CI:1.11%-2.13%;P =0.01)with respect to patency rate. Microsurgical vasoepididymostomy is an effective treatment for epididymal obstructive azoospermia that can improve male fertility. We find that performing microsurgical vasoepididymostomy bilaterally,anastomosing a larger caudal area,and containing motile sperm in epididymis fluid can potentially achieve a superior patency rate.

Microstructure of porous Cu fabricated by freeze-drying process of CuO/camphene slurry

Porous Cu with macroscopically aligned channels was synthesized using a freeze-drying ***-based CuO slurry was prepared by milling at 60 °C with a small amount of *** of a slurry was done at 25 °C while unidirectionally controlling the growth direction of the *** were generated subsequently by sublimation of the camphene during *** green body was hydrogen-reduced at 300 °C for 30 min,and sintered in the furnace at 700 °C for 1 h under a hydrogen *** observation reveals that all of the sintered samples are composed of only Cu phase and show macroscopic open pores with an average size of 100 μm which are aligned along its macroscopic growth *** internal wall of the macroscopic aligned pore shows relatively small pores due to the traces of the camphene left between the concentrated Cu particles on the internal *** in the porosity and pore size with increasing camphene content was explained by the change of the growth behavior of the camphene crystals.

In this paper,we studied the acceleration behavior of a quadruped animal during a galloping *** the development of many quadruped robotic systems has been focused on dynamic movements,it is obvious that guidance from the dynamic behavior of quadruped animals is needed for robotics *** fulfill this demand,this paper deals with analysis of the galloping motions of a domestic cat,which is well known for its excellent acceleration performance among four-legged *** on the planar motion capture environment,the movement data of a galloping feline was acquired and the dynamic motions were estimated using a spring-mass *** particular,the effects of the position and angle of the center-of-mass of the cat,angular displacement of the spine,and angular velocity of the spine were analyzed and are discussed *** this process,it was possible to understand the dynamic movement characteristics of the cat,and to understand the relationships between,and the influences of,these *** this analysis,we provide significant data applicable to the design of joint movements in quadruped robot systems.

Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome phlebovirus(SFTSV)has a wide host *** only has it been found in humans,but also in many wild and domesticated *** infection of breeding deer on farms is a particularly worrisome public health concern due to the large amount of human contact and the diverse use of deer products,including raw *** investigate the prevalence of breeding domesticated deer,we examined the SFTSV infection rate on deer farms in South Korea from 2015 to *** the 215 collected blood samples,0.9%(2/215)were found to be positive for viral RNA by PCR,and sequence analysis showed the highest homology with the KADGH human *** SFTSVspecific recombinant N and Gn protein-based ELIS As revealed that 14.0%(30/215)and 7.9%(17/215)of collected blood specimens were positive for SFTSV *** results demonstrate that the breeding farm deer are exposed to SFTSV and could be a potential infection source for humans through direct contact or consumption of byproducts.

Existing studies show that occupants’behavior contribute to fluctuations in energy consumption of residential units within the same building *** blinds are one of the interior design elements that the occupants use to control indoor environmental *** way that occupants adjust their blinds could affect the energy performance of ***,the purpose of this research was to identify spatial and temporal explanatory variables that correlate with occupants’use of the blinds and determine whether those variables relate to building design and surround-ing *** were collected by observing how occupants in apartment buildings located in a multifamily residential complex adjust their *** statistics were used to define the effect of floor level,window orientation,day of observation,the hour of observation,and weather conditions on the blind *** addition,a generalized linear mixed model was used to predict the effect of floor level and window orientation on the occupants’adjustment of *** results revealed that occupants’use of the blinds correlated significantly with spatial factors,such as the apartment buildings’floor level and windows’*** blind use patterns were related to temporal factors,such as the day and hour of observation.

Clinical features of gastric adenoma detected within 3 years after negative screening endoscopy in Korea

Background:Early detection and management of gastric adenoma are important for preventing gastric *** present study aimed to evaluate the predictors of missed gastric adenoma on screening endoscopy in Korea and identify the risk factors associated with interval precancerous gastric ***:All cases of gastric adenomas diagnosed via screening endoscopy between 2007 and 2019 were *** them,those who had undergone endoscopy within 3 years were included in the present *** gastric adenoma was defined as gastric adenoma diagnosed within 3 years after negative screening ***:In total,295 cases of gastric adenoma were *** these,95(32.2%)were missed gastric adenoma cases(mean age,60.6 years;average interval between final and index endoscopies,12.6months);the remaining 200(67.8%)were newly detected adenoma *** analysis revealed thatmale sex,endoscopist experience,observation time,and presence of gastric intestinalmetaplasia(pathologically proven)were associated with missed gastric *** analysis revealed that gastric intestinal metaplasia(odds ratio[OR],2.736;95%confidence interval[CI],1.320–5.667;P=0.007)and shorter observation time of the index screening endoscopy(B,0.011;OR,0.990;95%CI,0.986–0.993;P<0.001)were independent risk factors for missed gastric *** optimal cut-off for the observation time for detecting gastric adenoma was 3.53minutes(area under curve,0.738;95%CI,0.677–0.799;P<0.001).Conclusions:Gastric intestinal metaplasia is an indication of missed gastric ***,careful inspection of gastric mucosa with gastric intestinal metaplasia and proper observation time can lower the possibility of missing the gastric adenoma during screening.

Atrial natriuretic peptide signal pathway upregulated in stomach of streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice

AIM:To investigate atrial natriuretic peptide(ANP) secretion from gastric mucosa and the relationship between the ANP/natriuretic peptide receptor type A (NPR-A)pathway and diabetic gastroparesis. METHODS:Male imprinting control region(ICR)mice (4 wk old)were divided into two groups:control mice, and streptozotocin-induced diabetic *** weeks after injection,spontaneous gastric contraction was recorded by using physiography in control and streptozotocin-induced diabetic *** ANP-positive cells in gastric mucosa and among dispersed gastric epithelial cells were detected by using immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry,*** and natriureticpeptide receptor type A(NPR-A)gene expression in gastric tissue was observed by using the reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS:The frequency of spontaneous gastric contraction was reduced from 12.9±0.8 cycles/min in the control group to 8.4±0.6 cycles/min in the diabetic mice(n=8,P<0.05).However,the amplitude of contraction was not significantly affected in the diabetic *** depletion of interstitial cells of Cajal in the gastric muscle layer was observed in the diabetic ***-positive cells were distributed in the gastric mucosal layer and the density index of ANP-positive cells was increased from 20.9±2.2 cells/field in control mice to 51.8±2.9 cells/field in diabetic mice(n=8, P<0.05).The percentage of ANP-positive cells among the dispersed gastric epithelial cells was increased from 10.0%±0.9%in the control mice to 41.2%± 1.0%in the diabetic mice(n=3,P<0.05).ANP and NPR-A genes were both expressed in mouse stomach, and the expression was significantly increased in the diabetic mice. CONCLUSION:These results suggest that the ANP/ NPR-A signaling pathway is upregulated in streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice,and contributes to the development of diabetic gastroparesis.
