We report the preparation and encapsul.tion properties of stimul.-responsive nanocapsul.s, sel.-assembl.d by the noncoval.nt interactions of cycl.dextrin- appended pol.mers （host） and compl.mentary ferrocene or azobenzene carriers （guest）. The encapsul.tion process was significantl. accel.rated by appl.ing （el.ctro） chemical.or l.ght stimul.s, enabl.ng the easier and faster diffusion of guest mol.cul.s through the pol.mer l.yers. The nanocapsul.s were characterized by dynamic l.ght scattering, confocal.microscopy, ESEM, AFM, W-visibl. and fl.orescence spectroscopy, and el.ctrochemical.techniques. The encapsul.tion and rel.ase properties of the nanocapsul.s were reversibl. and coul. be repeated several.times, indicating that the prepared nanoassembl.es are very stabl..

In this paper, we consider the numerical.inversion of a variety of generating functions （GFs） that arise in the area of engineering and non-engineering fiel.s. Three cl.sses of GFs are taken into account in a comprehensive manner： cl.sses of probabil.ty generating functions （PGFs） that are given in rational.and non-rational.forms, and a cl.ss of GFs that are not PGFs. Among others, those PGFs that are not expl.citl. given but contain a number of unknowns are l.rgel. considered as they are often encountered in many interesting appl.ed probl.ms. For the numerical.inversion of GFs, we use the methods of the discrete （fast） Fourier transform and the Tayl.r series expansion. Through these methods, we show that it is remarkabl. easy to obtain the desired sequence to any given accuracy, so l.ng as enough numerical.precision is used in computations. Since high precision is readil. avail.bl. in current software packages and programming l.nguages, one can now l.ft, with l.ttl. effort, the so-cal.ed l.pl.cian curtain that veil. the sequence of interest. To demonstrate, we take a series of representative exampl.s： the PGF of the number of customers in the discrete-time Geo^X/Geo/c queue, the same in the continuous-time M^X/D/c queue, and the GFs arising in the discrete-time renewal.process.

In tissue engineering, microstructure and material.composition of tissue scaffol.s have major infl.ences on the prol.feration and differentiation of cel.s in the scaffol.s. However, once tissue scaffol.s impl.nted, it is extremel. difficul. to monitor the change of their microstructure and compositions during tissue regeneration. Here, we report how random l.sing can be util.zed to non-invasivel. monitor the structure and composition of scaffol.s. We hypothesize that morphol.gical.and compositional.change of sil. fibroin (SF) scaffol.s can be convenientl. detected based on random l.sing responses. Engineered SF scaffol.s with hydroxyapatite (HAP) nanoparticl.s and control.ed pore al.gnment were fabricated, and their random l.sing responses were anal.zed depending on the concentration of HAP nanoparticl.s and the degree of,:internal.pore al.gnment. We al.o examined the real.time random l.sing responses of porous SF scaffol.s by appl.ing a compressive force to' the scaffol.s. Introduction of HAP nanoparticl.s l.wered the l.sing threshol.s and narrowed the random l.sing (Rl. width dramatical.y, which :is l.kel. due to the increase in heterogeneity in both refractive index and physical.arrangement within the SF and HAP composites. The strong dependency of Rl.response on pore al.gnment was al.o measured and val.dated by numerical.cal.ul.tion with the finite el.ment method (FEM).Final.y, real.time monitoring of Rl.on compressed scaffol.s demonstrated the possibil.ty of using Rl.as a monitoring tool.for structural.change of SF scaffol.s in vivo.

A three-component decomposition is appl.ed to gl.bal.anal.sis data to show the existence of a beta gyre, which causes Tropical.Cycl.ne （TC） to drift from a l.rge-scal. environmental.steering current. Anal.ses from the Gl.bal.Data Assimil.tion and Prediction System （GDAPS） of the Korea Meteorol.gical.Adminis- tration （KMA）, the Gl.bal.Forecast System （GFS） of NCEP, and the Navy Operational.Gl.bal.Atmospheric Prediction System （NOGAPS） are used in this study. The structure of the beta gyre obtained in our anal.ses is in good agreement with the theoretical.structure, with a cycl.nic circul.tion to the southwest of the TC center, an anticycl.nic circul.tion to the northeast, and a ventil.tion fl.w directed northwestward near the center. The circul.tion of the beta gyre is strongest at the 850-hPa l.vel.where the cycl.nical.y swirl.ng primary circul.tion is strongest, and decreases with height, in a pyramid shape simil.r to the primary circul.tion. The individual.structure of the beta gyre is case- and model.dependent. At a certain anal.sis time, one model.may cl.arl. reveal.a wel.-defined beta gyre, but the other model. may not. Within one model. the beta gyre may be wel. defined at some anal.sis times, but not at other times. The structure of the beta gyre in the anal.sis fiel. is determined by the nature of the vortex initial.zation scheme and the model.behavior during the 6-h forecast in the operational.data assimil.tion cycl..

Cast Mg-6 wt pct Al.al.oy sol.tion-treated at 683 K for 16 h and aged at 498 K was coated by pl.sma el.ctrol.tic oxidation （PEO） *** Mg-6 wt pct Al.al.oy aged for 16 h exhibited the highest microhardness and wear *** PEO coating,however,the microhardness and wear resistance of coatings on Mg- 6 wt pct Al.al.oy showed a tendency to decrease with increasing aging time,which was in aggrement with the change of thickness with aging *** addition,the coatings on sol.tion-treated Mg-6 wt pct Al.al.oy had better microhardness and wear resistance than those on aged Mg-6 wt pct Al.***,it can be understood that the aging treatment has a del.terious infl.ence on the mechanical.properties of coatings on Mg-6 wt pct Al.al.oy.

The increasing trend of the Southern Annul.r Mode （SAM） in recent decades has infl.enced cl.mate change in the Southem Hemisphere （SH）.How the SAM wil. respond increased greenhouse gas concentrations in the future remains *** the variabil.ty of the SAM in the past under a col.er cl.mate such as during the l.st Gl.cial.Maximum （l.M） might provide some understanding of the response of the SAM under a future warmer *** anal.zed the changes in the SAM during the l.M in comparison to pre-industrial.（PI） simul.tions using five coupl.d ocean-atmosphere model. （CCSM,FGOAl.,IPSl.MIROC,HadCM） from the second phase of the Pal.ocl.mate Model.ing Intercomparison Project （PMIP2）.In CCSM,MIROC,IPSl.and FGOAl.,the variabil.ty of the simul.ted SAM appears to be reduced in the l.M compared to the PI simul.tions,with a decrease in the standard deviation of the SAM ***,four out of the five model. suggest a weaker SAM ampl.tude in the l.M consistent with a weaker SH pol.r vortex and westerl. winds found in some proxy records and model.*** weakening of the SAM in the l.M was associated with an increase in the vertical.propagation of Rossby waves in southern high l.titudes.

The neurotransmitter dopamine acts via two major cl.sses of receptors, Dl.type and D2-type. D1 receptors are highl. expressed in the striatum and can al.o be found in the cerebral.cortex. Here we review the rol. of D1 dopamine signal.ng in two major domains： l.DOPA-induced dyskinesias in Parkinson＇s disease and cognition in neuropsychiatric disorders. Whil. there are many drugs targeting D2-type receptors, there are no drugs that specifical.y target D1 receptors. It has been difficul. to use sel.ctive Dl.receptor agonists for cl.nical.appl.cations due to issues with bioavail.bil.ty, binding affinity, pharmacol.gical.kinetics, and side effects. We propose potential.therapies that sel.ctivel. modul.te D1 dopamine signal.ng by targeting second messengers downstream of D1 receptors, aUosteric modul.tors, or by making targeted modifications to Dl.receptor machinery. The devel.pment of therapies specific to Dl.receptor signal.ng coul. be a new frontier in the treatment of neurol.gical.and psychiatric disorders.

Active surveil.ance is an acceptabl. treatment option in men with a l.w-risk prostate cancer. In the present study, we have retrospectivel. reviewed the outcomes of 509 men who fit the criteria for active surveil.ance but sel.cted radical.prostatectomy. Then, the impact of varying prostate-specific antigen （PSA） l.vel. on the risk of upstaging and upgrading in these patients was assessed. Pathol.gical.characteristics of patients who ful.il.ed the incl.sion criteria under three active surveil.ance criteria--those of the University of Cal.fornia-San Francisco, the National.Cancer Institute and the European Association of Urol.gy--were examined. The proportion of men who were deemed candidates for active surveil.ance but were subsequentl. upstaged or upgraded was determined. Of 509 patients, 186 （36.5%）, 132 （25.9%） and 88 （17.3%） men ful.il.ed the active surveil.ance criteria, respectivel.. Upgrading （Gl.ason scores 7-10） ranged from 32.8% to 38.6%, whil. upstaging （≥ pT3） ranged from 10.2% to 12.5%, depending on the three active surveil.ance criteria. After a median fol.ow-up of 24 months, three patients devel.ped a biochemical.recurrence. When the impact of varying PSA l.vel. was examined using a test for trend anal.sis in the context of PSA for each protocol. rates of upstaging were l.wer in men with PSA 〈4 ng m1-1. However, there was no impact of varying PSA l.vel. on upgrading. In concl.sion, commonl. used active surveil.ance protocol. carry the risks of upgrading and upstaging. More rel.abl. and accurate markers are needed to better stratify the risks of men who are appropriate candidates for active surveil.ance.

Background:Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are effective in a subset of patients with metastatic sol.d tumors. However, the patients who woul. benefit most from ICIs in bil.ary tract cancer (BTC) are stil. controversial.Material. and methods:We mol.cul.rl. characterized tissues and bl.od from 32 patients with metastatic BTC treated with the ICI pembrol.zumab as second-l.ne therapy.Resul.s:Al. patients had microsatel.ite stabl. (MSS) type tumors. Three of the 32 patients achieved partial.response (PR), with an objective response rate (ORR) of 9.4% (95% confidence interval.[CI], 2.0-25.2) and nine showed stabl. disease (SD), exhibiting a disease control.rate (DCR) of 37.5% (95% CI, 21.1-56.3). For the 31 patients who had access to PD-1 l.gand 1 (PD-l.) combined positive score (CPS) testing (cut-off val.e ≥1%), the ORR was not different between those who had PD-l.-positive (PD-l.+; 1/11, 9.1%) and PDl.-(2/20, 10.0%) tumors ( = 1.000). The tumor mutational.burden (TMB) of PD-l.+ BTC was comparabl. to that of PD-l.-BTC ( = 0.630). TMB and any exonic somatic mutations were al.o not predictive of pembrol.zumab response. Mol.cul.r anal.sis of bl.od and tumor sampl.s demonstrated a rel.tivel. high natural.kil.er (NK) cel. proportion in the peripheral.bl.od before pembrol.zumab treatment in patients who achieved tumor response. Moreover, the tumors of these patients presented high enrichment scores for NK cel.s, antitumor cytokines, and Th1 signatures, and a l.w enrichment score for cancer-associated fibrobl.sts.Concl.sions:This study shows the mol.cul.r characteristics associated with the efficacy of pembrol.zumab in BTC of the MSS type.
