Several image-based biomedical diagnoses require high-resolution imaging capabilities at large spatial ***,conventional microscopes exhibit an inherent trade-off between depth-of-field(DoF)and spatial resolution,and thus require objects to be refocused at each lateral location,which is time ***,we present a computational imaging platform,termed E2E-BPF microscope,which enables large-area,high-resolution imaging of large-scale objects without serial *** method involves a physics-incorporated,deep-learned design of binary phase filter(BPF)and jointly optimized deconvolution neural network,which altogether produces high-resolution,high-contrast images over extended depth *** demonstrate the method through numerical simulations and experiments with fluorescently labeled beads,cells and tissue section,and present high-resolution imaging capability over a 15.5-fold larger DoF than the conventional *** method provides highly effective and scalable strategy for DoF-extended optical imaging system,and is expected to find numerous applications in rapid image-based diagnosis,optical vision,and metrology.

Amidst the ever-growing interest in high-mass-loading Li battery electrodes,a persistent challenge has been the insufficient continuity of their ion/electron conduction ***,we propose cellulose elementary fibrils(CEFs)as a class of deagglomerated binder for high-mass-loading *** from natural wood,CEF represents the most fundamental unit of cellulose with nanoscale *** preparation of the CEFs involves the modulation of intermolecular hydrogen bonding by the treatment with a proton acceptor and a hydrotropic *** elementary deagglomeration of the cellulose fibers increases surface area and anionic charge density,thus promoting uniform dispersion with carbon conductive additives and suppressing interfacial side reactions at ***,a homogeneous redox reaction is achieved throughout the *** resulting CEF-based cathode(overlithiated layered oxide(OLO)is chosen as a benchmark electrode active material)exhibits a high areal-mass-loading(50 mg cm^(-2),equivalent to an areal capacity of 12.5 mAh cm^(-2))and a high specific energy density(445.4 Wh kg–1)of a cell,which far exceeds those of previously reported OLO *** study highlights the viability of the deagglomerated binder in enabling sustainable high-mass-loading electrodes that are difficult to achieve with conventional synthetic polymer binders.

To enhance the efficiency of vaccine manufacturing,this study focuses on optimizing the microfluidic conditions and lipid mix ratios of messenger RNA-lipid nanoparticles(mRNA-LNP).Different mRNA-LNP formulations(n=24)were developed using an I-optimal design,where machine learning tools(XGBoost/Bayesian optimization and self-validated ensemble(SVEM))were used to optimize the process and predict lipid mix *** investigation included material attributes,their respective ratios,and process *** critical responses like particle size(PS),polydispersity index(PDI),Zeta potential,pKa,heat trend cycle,encapsulation efficiency(EE),recovery ratio,and encapsulated mRNA were *** prediction of SVEM(>97%)was comparably better than that of XGBoost/Bayesian optimization(>94%).Moreover,in actual experimental outcomes,SVEM prediction is close to the actual data as confirmed by the experimental PS(94-96 nm)is close to the predicted one(95-97 nm).The other parameters including PDI and EE were also close to the actual experimental data.

A commercial Al-Mg alloy was subjected to equal channel angular pressing of 4 passes with and without postrolling, and the effects of post-rolling on the deformation characteristics of the alloy at 723 K were examined. Post-rolling was found to influence the deformation behavior significantly. The deformation behavior of the alloy processed only by equal channel angular pressing was characterized by (a) localized deformation indicated by severe surface prominence and depression, (b) the strain rate sensitivity of 0.33, and (c) moderate high strain rate superplastic elongations. By contrast, that of the alloy processed by equal channel angular pressing and post-rolling (70 % thickness reduction) was manifested by (a) uniform deformation associated with grain boundary sliding throughout the sample, (b) a sigmoidal behavior showing the strain rate sensitivity of 0.45 at the intermediate strain rates in the logarithmic stress-strain rate curve, and (c) very large high strain rate superplastic elongations.

BACKGROUND Snapping triceps syndrome(STS)is a rare disease,while occurrence of bilateral STS is extremely *** is usually accompanied by dislocation of the ulnar nerve and double snapping is a clinically important ***,to the best of our knowledge,there has been no report of bilateral STS in young active *** SUMMARY A 23-year-old male presented with a complaint of discomfort and snapping on the medial side of both elbows while performing *** physical examination,two distinct snaps that were both palpable and audible were detected on additional clinical *** ultrasonography showed that the ulnar nerve and the medial head of the triceps were dislocated anteriorly over the medial epicondyle of the elbow during flexion ***,he was diagnosed as dislocation of the ulnar nerve and *** anterior subcutaneous transposition of the ulnar nerve combined with partial resection of the snapping portion of the triceps was *** patient’s pain and snapping symptoms were resolved immediately after *** months later,the patient was completely asymptomatic and returned to normal *** STS should be included in the differential diagnosis for active young patients who present with painful snapping on the medial side of the elbow joint,particularly when dislocation of the ulnar nerve is *** sonography is used to assist in accurate diagnosis and differentiation between isolated dislocation of the ulnar nerve and STS.

A quasistatic homogenized projection is made to characterize the effective cohesive zone behavior for rough-surface adhesion. In the context of the homogenized projection, the traction versus separation relation for the homogenized cohesive zone （HCZ） of a rough interface can be highly oscillatory due to instabilities during microscopic adhesion and decohesion processes. The instabilities are found to occur not only individually but also collectively among the adhesive micro-asperity contacts, leading to extensive energy dissipation. Based on the behaviors of the HCZ relations, a framework for describing instability-induced energy dissipation in rough-surface adhesion is proposed to elucidate the effect of roughness on apparent interface adhesion. Two non- dimensional parameters, α related to roughness morphology and n related to flaw distribution, are identified to be most crucial for controlling the energy dissipation. For an interface with a shallow roughness and a strong intrinsic adhesive strength, the interface adhesion can be stronger if we make it rougher （reducing α） or lower its flaw density （increasing n）. The HCZ projection method can be potentially extended and employed to bridge the apparent adhesion from intrinsic adhesion properties for engineering surfaces with multi-scale shallow roughness.

BACKGROUND The role of smoking in the incidence of colorectal cancer(CRC)or gastric cancer(GC)in populations undergoing cholecystectomy has not been *** To evaluate the effect of smoking on CRC or GC development in cholecystectomy *** A total of 174874 patients who underwent cholecystectomy between January 1,2010 and December 31,2017 were identified using the Korean National Health Insurance Service claims *** patients were matched 1:1 with mem-bers of a healthy population according to age and *** or GC risk after cholecystectomy and the association between smoking and CRC or GC risk in cholecystectomy patients were evaluated using adjusted hazard ratios(HRs)and 95%*** The risks of CRC(adjusted HR:1.15;95%CI:1.06-1.25;P=0.0013)and GC(adjusted HR:1.11;95%CI:1.01-1.22;P=0.0027)were significantly higher in cholecystectomy *** the population who underwent cholecystectomy,both CRC and GC risk were higher in those who had smoked compared to those who had never *** both cancers,the risk tended to increase in the order of non-smokers,ex-smokers,and current *** addition,a positive correlation was observed between the amount of smoking and the risks of both CRC and *** Careful follow-up and screening should be performed,focusing on the increased risk of gastrointestinal cancer in the cholecystectomy group,particularly considering the individual smoking habits.
