Luminescence and low temperature trap centers in mixed rare earth borate crystal

The single crystal of this compound has been grown from melt by using a conventional Czochralski technique. The temperature dependent luminescence spectra were measured using a 265 nm laser as an exciting source in the range of 10-300 K. The scintillation decay time profile was measured and found to have three components. The influence of the trap centers on the luminescence properties was studied by means of thermoluminescence（TL） glow peak analysis. Low temperature TL glow peaks were measured in the temperature range of 10-300 K at the heating rate of 0.1 K/s for X-ray irradiated sample. The TL glow peak consists of two dominant peaks at 88 and 109 K. Several glow peaks with a complex nature causes the decrease in the light yield at temperatures below 250 K, and along with long scintillation decay components were observed. The trap parameters such as activation energy（E）, frequency factor（s）and order of kinetics（b） were calculated using various standard methods such as peak shape（PS）,variable heating rate（VhR）, initial rise（IR） and computerized glow curve deconvolution（CgCD）.

The minimization of base drag using mass bleed control is examined in consideration of various base to orifice exit area ratios for a body of revolution in the Mach 2.47 freestream Axisymmetric, compressible, rmss-averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved using the standard k-ω model, a fully implicit finite volume scheme, and a second order upwind scheme. Base flow charcteristics are explained mgaarding the base configuration as well as the injection parameter which is defined as the mass flow rate of bleed jet non-dimensionalized by the product of the base area and fieestream mass flux. The results obtained through the present study show that for a smaller base area, the optimum mass bleed condition leading to minimum base drag occurs at relatively larger mass bleed, and a lalger orifice exit can offer better drag control.

We report the electrical detection of captured gases through measurement of the quantum tunneling characteristics of gas-mediated molecular junctions formed across *** gas-sensing nanogap device consists of a pair of vertically stacked gold electrodes separated by an insulating 6 nm spacer(~1.5 nm of sputteredα-Si and~4.5 nm ALD SiO2),which is notched~10 nm into the stack between the gold *** exposed gold surface is functionalized with a self-assembled monolayer(SAM)of conjugated thiol linker *** the device is exposed to a target gas(1,5-diaminopentane),the SAM layer electrostatically captures the target gas molecules,forming a molecular bridge across the *** gas capture lowers the barrier potential for electron tunneling across the notched edge region,from~5 eV to~0.9 eV and establishes additional conducting paths for charge transport between the gold electrodes,leading to a substantial decrease in junction *** demonstrated an output resistance change of>108 times upon exposure to 80 ppm diamine target gas as well as ultralow standby power consumption ofg electron tunneling through molecular bridges for ultralow-power gas sensing.

Over the last 15 years, there have been major advances in the multimodal treatment of gastric cancer, in large part due to several phase Ⅲ studies showing the treatment benefits of neoadjuvant and adjuvantchemotherapy and chemoradiation protocols. The objective of this editorial is to review the current highlevel evidence supporting the use of chemotherapy, chemoradiation and anti-hER2 agents in both the neoadjuvant and adjuvant settings, as well as to provide a clinical framework for use of this data based on our own institutional protocol for gastric cancer. Major studies reviewed include the SWOg/INT 0116, Medical Research Council Adjuvant gastric Infusional Chemotherapy(MAgIC), CLASSIC, ACTS-gC, Adjuvant Chemoradiation Therapy in Stomach Cancer(ARTIST) and Trastuzumab for gastric Cancer trials. Although these studies have demonstrated that multiple approaches in terms of the timing and therapy for gastric cancer are effective, no standard of care is widely accepted and questions regarding the optimal timing of chemotherapy, the benefit of radiotherapy, the minimum required extent of lymphadenectomy and optimal chemotherapy regimen still exist. Protocols from the upcoming ARTIST Ⅱ, CRITICS, TOPgEAR, Neo-AEgIS and MAgIC-B studies are outlined, and results from these studies will provide critical information regarding optimal timing and treatment regimen. Additionally, the future directions of gastric cancer research predicated on molecular profiling and tailored therapies based on targetable genetic alterations in individual patient's tumors are addressed.

Evaporative cooling is a widely used air cooling technique. In this method, evaporation of a liquid in the surrounding air cools the air in contact with it. In the current investigation, numerical simulations are carded out to visualize the evaporation and dynamics of tiny water droplets of different diameters in a long air duct. The effect of initial droplet size on the temperature and relative humidity distribution of the air stream in the duct is investigated. Three different initial conditions of air are considered to verify the influence of ambient conditions. Droplet spray patterns are also analyzed to identify the suitable locations for the spray nozzles within the duct. The resuits obtained are displayed in a series of plots to provide a clear understanding of the evaporative cooling process as well as the droplet dynamics within the ducts.

In order to improve and stabilize the magnetic properties of nanocomposite Nd2Fe14B/α-Fe magnetic alloys by a compositional adjustment, small amount of Dy and/or Co was added to Nd9Fe84B7 alloys. DTA analysis on the amorphous of the alloys took place as the soft magnetic phases were crystallized, and then the hard magnetic Nd2Fe14B was precipitated from them. While α-Fe and a metastable 1:7 (TbCu7-type) phase were formed simultaneously in Dy and Co-free alloys, they were crystallized separately at different temperatures after Dy or Co was added. This phase separation occurred more clearly in the Dy-treated alloys and the other soft magnetic phase Fe3B was also stabilized by Dy and/or Co. The 1: 7 phase that was stabilized by Dy and/or Co was not eliminated at 700 ℃, decreasing magnetic properties of the alloys. It was eventually disappeared above 725 ℃, but Fe3B was not eliminated even at 750 ℃ when Dy was added more than 0.5 at% or Co was added more than 2.0 at%. Amount of Nd2Fe14B in the alloys tended to increase as Dy addition increased,whereas Co addition did not lead to any appreciable change in the ratio of α-Fe and Nd2Fe14B. Moreover, Dy addition apparently increased coercivity of an alloy while Co addition had a beneficial effect on remanence. The grains in the Dytreated alloys were usually finer than those in the Co-treated alloys. The grain size of both α-Fe and Nd2Fe14B in the alloys exhibiting mr ≥ 0.72 was in the range of 20 ～ 40 nm or even larger 50 nm, which is larger than the theoretical optimum size ( ～ 10 nm). Typical magnetic properties obtained from a Nd7.5Dy1.5Fe82.5Co1.5B7 alloy annealed for 12 min at 725 ℃were ihc=4.85 kOe, Br= 11.32 kg, (Bh)max = 15.73 MgOe, and mr=0.73.

The demand for titanium alloys simultaneously having high elastic admissible strain and large recovery strain for bio-implant applications is ***-free Ti-based shape memory alloys are promising candidates for obtaining the required multifunctional *** this study,a wide content range of(0-15)wt%of low-cost,toxicity-free,and high-biocompatible Sn element was added to the Ti-8Mo(wt%)alloy to study its effect on the superelastic recovery and mechanical properties of biomedical Ti-Mo-Sn *** tailoring Sn content,desired multifunctional properties of high elastic admissible strain and room temperature superelasticity were achieved in the studied Ti-Mo-Sn *** was found that the increase in Sn content stabilized theβphase and a singleβphase was obtained at room temperature in Ti-8Mo-(13,15)Sn *** addition of Sn modified the lattice parameters of theα″martensite andβphase and affected the lattice deformation stain ofβ→α″.The lattice deformation strain along the[011]βdirection was found to be decreased by-0.26%/wt%*** room temperature superelasticity with a recovery strain of 3.1%and an elastic admissible strain of 1%was obtained in the Ti-8Mo-13Sn *** Sn content increased to 15 wt%,a high elastic admissible strain of 1.56%and a recovery strain of 2.0%were *** Ti-Mo-Sn alloys with excellent multifunctional properties are promising candidates for bio-implant applications.
