Corrosion and Scaling Threat in Upstream.Oil Operation

Corrosiveness or scaling is an inherent threat to oil operations. The prim.ry cause for this threat is the presence of water having com.lex geochem.cal m.trix. Unanticipated water production, particularly if it contains unwanted im.urities, can significantly im.act hydrocarbon production. The current paper discusses the degree of threat posed to oil operation facilities based on the water characteristics. m.thodology involved the collection and analysis of water sam.les from.m.jor sources in oil industry such as groundwater, wellheads and seawater. The param.ters tested include geochem.cal, m.crobiological and pollutants. The lab data was used to develop scaling and corrosion prediction indices such as Langelier Saturation Index (LSI), Ryznar Stability Index (RSI) and Puckorius Scaling Index (PSI). The study indicated varying water chem.stry for different sources. m.xing of those waters m.y lead to ionic saturation and scaling in different facilities. Presence of the SRB and GAB in som. water sources also posed threat to water system.by form.ng fouling and corrosion. Seawater used for offshore oilfields water injection to m.intain reservoir pressure and im.rove oil recovery showed scaling tendency, whereas under different reservoir pressure, it can cause corrosion. Som. of the sam.les also had corrosion residuals such as iron, which indicated active corrosion. Current study showed higher alkalinity with high sulfate for one groundwater sam.le with presence of active corrosion residuals such as dissolved iron and m.nganese. The study showed positive value for LSI which indicated supersaturation of the water sam.les with respect to calcium.carbonate (CaCO3) and scale form.ng. Sim.larly, for RSI and PSI, the value was below six which confirm.d the scaling potential for all the sam.les. Travelling wave solutions have been played a vital role in dem.nstrating the wave character of nonlinear problem. arising in the field of ocean engineering and *** describe the propagation of the nonlinear wave phenom.non in the ocean(for exam.le,wind waves,tsunam. waves),a variety of evolution equations have been suggested and investigated in the existing *** paper studies the dynam.c of travelling periodic and solitary wave behavior of a double-dispersive non-linear evolution equation,nam.d the Sharm.-Tasso-Olver(STO)*** evolution equations with double dispersion enable us to describe nonlinear wave propagation in the ocean,hyperplastic rods and other m.dium. in the field of science and *** analyze the wave solutions of this m.del using a com.ination of num.rical sim.lations and Ansatz *** analysis shows that the travelling wave solutions involve a range of param.ters that displays im.ortant and very interesting properties of the wave *** relevance of the param.ters in the travelling wave solutions is also *** sim.lating num.rically,we dem.nstrate how param.ters in the solutions influence the phase speed as well as the travelling and solitary ***,we discuss instantaneous stream.ine patterns am.ng the obtained solutions to explore the local direction of the com.onents of the obtained solitary wave solutions at each point in the coordinate(x,t).

Polym.r science encom.asses a different range of m.terials critical to industries spanning from.packaging to biom.dicine. Understanding the synthesis, characterization, and applications of com.on hom.polym.rs and copolym.rs is fundam.ntal to advancing polym.r research and developm.nt. In this com.rehensive review, we explore various preparation m.thods, including free radical, anionic, and cationic polym.rization, utilized for synthesizing hom.polym.rs and copolym.rs. Furtherm.re, we investigate solvent choices com.only em.loyed for polym.r characterization, ranging from.neat conditions, polar protic and polar aprotic solvents. We also explored characterization techniques, including Fourier Transform.Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Nuclear m.gnetic Resonance (Nm.), Atom.c Force m.croscopy (AFm., Differential Scanning Calorim.try (DSC), and Therm.gravim.tric Analysis (TGA). In addition to industrial applications, we highlight the diverse biological applications of hom.polym.rs, poly(2-hydroxyethyl m.thacrylate) (pHEm.) and polystyrene, which find its extensive use in biom.dicine. By synthesizing and analyzing this wealth of inform.tion, this review aim. to provide a com.rehensive understanding of the synthesis, characterization, and applications of hom.polym.rs and copolym.rs, with a particular focus on their biological applications. This holistic approach not only contributes to advancem.nts in polym.r science and technology but also fosters innovation in biom.dicine, ultim.tely benefiting hum.n health and well-being.

Assessing gully erosion and rehabilitation using m.lti tem.oral LiDAR DEm.:Case study from.the Great Barrier Reef catchm.nts,Australia

m.llions of dollars are being spent on gully rehabilitation to help reduce excess fine sedim.nt delivery to the Great Barrier Reef(GBR).There is an urgent need for(i)prioritisation of active gullies for rehabilitation and(ii)the developm.nt of m.thodologies to inform.the effectiveness of *** this study we analyse DEm. of Difference derived from.0.5 m.resolution 2-3 year interval m.lti-tem.oral LiDAR data collected pre and post rehabilitation at three variable gully m.rphologies in the Burdekin *** analysis indicates that the highest annual average fine sedim.nt erosion rates for the untreated control gullies occur at the linear gully(53.38 t ha^(-1)y^(-1))followed by linear-alluvial gully(34.24 t ha^(-1)y^(-1))and least at the alluvial gully(14.41 t ha^(-1)y^(-1)).The proportional loss or export of fine sedim.nt from.the gullies in their un-treated condition ranges from.68 to 90%of what is eroded,and when the gullies are treated the proportion of fine sedim.nt that is retained in the gully proportional to what is eroded increases to∼60%at all *** pre-treatm.nt baseline erosion rates,and additional post treatm.nt LiDAR captures,it is difficult to quantify the treatm.nt *** results offer insights in the erosion m.chanism. within different geom.rphic gully m.rphologies and rehabilitation effects in these erosional *** study provides crucial knowledge of gully dynam.cs that can be coupled with other lines of evidence for better prioritisation of rehabilitation in the GBR catchm.nts.
