The increasing use o. fo.sil fuels has a significant impact o. the enviro.ment and eco.ystem,which increases the rate o. *** the high po.ential o. renewable energy so.rces inYemen and the absence o. similar studies in the regio.,this study aims to.examine the po.ential o. wind energy in So.o.ra *** was do.e by analyzing and evaluating wind pro.erties,determining available energy density,calculating wind energy extracted at different altitudes,and then co.puting the capacity facto. fo. a number o. wind turbines and determining the *** average wind speed in So.o.ra Island was o.tained fro. the Civil Aviatio. and Meteo.o.o.y Autho.ity data,o.ly fo. the five-year data currently *** results sho.ed high wind speeds fro. June to.September(9.85-14.88 m/s)while the wind speed decreased fo. the rest o. the *** average wind speed in the five years was 7.95 m/*** average annual wind speed,wind energy density,and annual energy density were calculated at different altitudes(10,30,and 50 m).Acco.ding to.the Internatio.al Wind Energy Rating criteria,the regio. o. These co.po.nds were characterized as 7, 8-Dimetho.y-2,2,6-trimethyl-pyrano.quino.in-5-o.e, 4-Metho.y 1-methyl quino.in-2-o.e, 6-Hydro.y N-methyl 2,3-furo.quino.in-4-o.e, 1-Hydro.y-10-methyl acrido.e, 1- Hydro.y-2, 3-dimetho.y-10-methylacridin-9-o.e and Luteo.in-4'-o.[α-L-rhamno.yrano.yl-(1→2)-{α-L-rhamno.yra- no.yl-(1→6)}-β-D-glyco.yrano.ide]. The iso.ated co.po.nds were characterized by UV, IR and N. M. R (1H, 13C) studies.

The o.timal sealing time fo. vo.atiles reaching equilibrium fro. who.e fruit in the headspace o. the chamber was 20, 16, 8 and 16 ho.rs fo. lemo., lime, mandarin, and o.ange respectively. o.timum fibre expo.ure times fo. who.e fruit were 2, 4, 2 and 2 ho.rs fo. lemo., lime, mandarin, and o.ange respectively. Three chamber vo.umes (500, 1000 and 2000 ml) were evaluated fo. the co.lectio. o. Vo.s with the 500 ml chamber being selected. The 500ml chamber pro.uced the highest quality peak areas and quantity o. extracted vo.atiles. As a result o. fruit respiratio., the percentage o. o.ygen (o.) o. all citrus fruit species in 500 ml chamber decreased fro. 21.8% to.18.8% in the 20 ho.rs sealing time, while carbo. dio.ide (Co.) co.tents increased to.2.9% also.in the 20 ho.rs sealing time. The results o. this study sho.ed the feasibility o. this technique fo. identifying Vo.s fro. fo.r o. the citrus fruit species and its po.ential as a ro.tine metho. fo. physio.o.ical studies o. citrus fruit o. o. o.her fruit species.
