Bedouin farms in the Saint Katherine mountainous area(South Sinai,Egypt)

This study aims to assess the natural and cultivated plant species in 26 Bedouin farms in Saint Katherine Protectorate(SKP),identify their soil and water characteristics,and assess the suitability of these farms for the cultivation of some wild medicinal *** farms were selected to represent wide wadis with deep sand and clay deposits,gorge-like wadis covered with rock fragments of different sizes,spot-like oases,and the Al Q’aa *** TWINSPAN(two-way indicator species analysis)and DCA(detrended correspondence analysis)techniques,the 26 farms were classified into 5 groups(Ⅰ-Ⅴ)based on their floristic composition of wild *** groups reflect an elevation gradient among the farms above sea level from a mean of 119 m to a mean of1,865m.A total of 73 wild species were recorded,with47 in groupⅡ(500-1,000 m)and 25 in group V(>1,700 m).The common target species were Artemisia judaica,Acacia tortilis ***,Origanum syriacum *** and Varthemia montana(34.6%-26.9%).The cultivated speciesnumbered 25,with 17 in groupⅡ(500-1,000 m) andⅡin groupⅣ(1,500-1,700 m).The common fruit trees were olive,grape,fig,apple,palm,almond,apricot and pomegranate(73.0%-42.3%).Based on the soil characteristics,13 farms belong to soil class 2that describes good soils with moderate limitations,and 12 belong to soil class 3 that describes moderately good soils,which can be used regularly for crops after proper treatment.

Drought is one of the critical conditions for the growth and productivity of many crops including mung bean(Vigna radiata ***).Screening of genotypes for variations is one of the suitable strategies for evaluating crop adaptability and global food *** this context,the study investigated the physiological and biochemical responses of four drought tolerant(BARI Mung-8,BMX-08010-2,BMX-010015,BMX-08009-7),and four drought sensitive(BARI Mung-1,BARI Mung-3,BU Mung-4,BMX-05001)mung bean genotypes under wellwatered(WW)and water deficit(WD)*** WW treatment maintained sufficient soil moisture(22%±0.5%,i.e.,30%deficit of available water)by regularly supplying ***,the WD treatment was maintained throughout the growing period,and water was applied when the wilting symptom *** drought tolerant(DT)genotypes BARI Mung-8,BMX-08010-2,BMX-010015,BMX-08009-7 showed a high level of proline accumulation(2.52–5.99 mg g^(−1) FW),photosynthetic pigment(total chlorophyll 2.96–3.27 mg g^(−1) FW at flowering stage,and 1.62–2.38 mg g^(−1) FW at pod developing stage),plant water relation attributes including relative water content(RWC)(82%–84%),water retention capacity(WRC)(12–14)as well as lower water saturation deficit(WSD)(19%–23%),and water uptake capacity(WUC)(2.58–2.89)under WD condition,which provided consequently higher relative seed *** indicate that the tolerant genotypes gained better physiobiochemical attributes and adaptability in response to drought ***,the genotype BMX-08010-2 showed superiority in terms of those physio-biochemical traits,susceptibility index(SSI)and stress tolerance index(STI)to other *** on the physiological and biochemical responses,the BMX-08010-2 was found to be a suitable genotype for sustaining yield under drought stress,and subsequently,it could be recommended for crop improvement through hybridization *** addition,the identified traits can be used as markers to ide

Growth Rate and Chemical Muscle Composition of Oreochromis niloticus Fish Cultured in Drainage Water and Fed Antioxidant Supplemented Diet

Irrigation of fish farms with agricultural drainage water may affect cultured fish species. So, the present study utilizes antioxidants supplemented diet to overcome deterioration of drainage water and its negative effect on fish. The studied groups are fish cultured in dechlorinated tap water as control group or drainage water and fed commercial basal diet. While, the other studied groups represented by Oreochromis niloticus fish cultured in drainage water and fed either commercial diet supplemented with vitamin C (5 g/kg diet) or fennel (5 g/kg diet) for 12 weeks. Results of the water physico-chemical parameters of all studied treatments revealed deterioration of the drainage water with a decrease in dissolved oxygen and an increase in pH, total hardness, total alkalinity, salinity, ammonia, nitrite and heavy metals (Cu, Pb and Cd) with significant differences (P ≤ 0.01) in comparison to that of the control dechlorinated tap water group. Data clarified also that Oreochromis niloticus cultured in drainage water showed a decrease in growth rate accompanied by deterioration of fish meat quality. However, fish reared in the same drainage water for the same exposure period and fed vitamin C or fennel supplemented basal diet (5 g/kg diet) recorded values of the studied parameters more or less similar to that of control group fish. Data of the present study, empowered aquaculturist to supplement fish rations with fennel or vitamin C as antioxidants to improve fish growth rate, meat quality as well as protect fish against heavy metals toxicity that could threat Human Being.

Introduction: Appendicitis is the most common surgical emergency in childhood. It’s a common surgical disease that can be presented with a wide variety of atypical clinical features. Clinical Case: We report a case of a 7-year-old female patient admitted for abdominal pain dating back 20 days, radiological exploration suggested a right ovarian teratoma, while laparoscopic exploration has objective an appendicular abscess. Conclusion: This case has allowed us to clarify an atypical case of complicated appendicitis, and also to show the contribution of laparoscopy.

Enzymatic and histopathologic biomarkers as indicators of aquatic pollution in fishes

In the present study we investigated the alteration in the activity of two metabolic enzymes [Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase (G6PDH) and Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH)] and the histological changes on liver and gills of the African catfish Clarias gariepinus collected from 6 sites along the river Nile, from its spring at Aswan to its estuary at Rosetta and Damietta branches. The results showed that the physical and chemical parameters of the water collected from Damietta and Rosetta branches were higher than those of the water collected from other sites. Remarkable alterations in the activity of the selected enzymes in the liver and muscles of the African catfish were detected. These alterations go in parallel with the elevation in the levels of chemical parameters detected in the water of Damietta and Rosetta branches as a result of pollution stress in these areas. The activity of G6PDH was significantly (p elevation (p eliable, easily quantifiable index of low-level toxic stress to a broad range of environmental pollutants.

Introduction: Acute mesenteric ischemia due to an embolism of the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) is associated with a high mortality rate. Over twenty per cent of acute mesenteric embolism cases consist of multiple emboli. Case Presentation: We present a rare case of a 62-year-old man admitted with acute abdominal pain and signs of intestinal occlusion related to an acute mesenteric ischemia due to superior mesenteric arterial embolism. It was associated with a synchronous acute bilateral lower limb ischemia due to embolic arterial occlusion. He underwent an emergency explorative laparotomy with proximal jejunal resection, and the patient made an excellent recovery. As for the acute limb ischemia, it was treated by efficient anticoagulation allowing limb salvage. Conclusion: When treating a superior mesenteric arterial embolism, the possibility of recurrent or multiple arterial thromboembolic events should be considered. A prompt diagnosis, aggressive surgical treatment and intensive care could improve the prognosis.

Globally among biotic stresses,diseases like blight,rust and blast constitute prime constraints for reducing wheat productivity especially in *** sustainable productivity,the development of disease-resistant lines and high yielding varieties is vital and *** study was conducted using 122 advanced breeding lines of wheat including 21 varieties developed by Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute with aims to identify genotypes having high yield potential and resistant to leaf blight,leaf rust and blast *** genotypes were evaluated for resistance against leaf blight and leaf rust at Dinajpur and wheat blast at Jashore under field *** of 122 genotypes tested,20 lines were selected as resistant to leaf blight based on the area under the diseases progress curve under both irrigated timely sown and irrigated late sown ***-two genotypes were found completely free from leaf rust infection,59 genotypes were identified as resistant,and 13 genotypes were identified as moderately resistant to leaf *** genotypes were immune against wheat blast,42 genotypes were categorized as resistant,and 26 genotypes were identified as moderately resistant to wheat *** data revealed that the 16 genotypes showed a positive 2NS segment among the 18 immune genotypes selected against wheat blast under field *** genotypes BAW 1322,BAW 1295,and BAW 1203 can be used as earlier maturing genotypes and the genotypes BAW 1372,BAW 1373,BAW 1297 and BAW 1364 can be used for lodging tolerant due to short plant *** genotypes WMRI Gom 1,BAW 1349 and BAW 1350 can be selected for bold grain and the genotypes WMRI Gom 1,BAW 1297,BAW 1377 can be used as high yielder for optimum seeding condition but genotypes BAW 1377 and BAW 1366 can be used for late sown *** selected resistant genotypes against specific diseases can be used in the further breeding program to develop wheat varieties having higher disea

The need for the bacterial proteinase is rapidly growing,urging to catch a lowcost medium for the microbial fermentation,nanoparticles can play a vital role in this *** proteinase of Talaromyces purpureogenus was produced on the tubers of Helianthus tuberosus that also operated as solid support for the fermentation *** interface amongst nitrogen sources(NH_(4)Cl and yeast extract)was investigated,applying the statistical modeling of central composite design under solid-state *** optimum medium for proteinase secretion was stimulated by 979.82 mg NH_(4)Cl and 437.68 mg yeast extract per 100 g substrate,yielding 108.15 U/g *** Plackett-Burman experimental design,the nanoparticles Co,Ni and Fe were assessed as inducers for proteinase *** nanoparticles(5 ppm)were the greatest in both proteinase production by the fungus as well as an inducer of the proteolysis process by the enzyme when using faba bean straw as a proteinaceous substrate in the reaction mixture,liberating the extreme quantity of amino acids,compared with the lack of the *** findings suggest the incorporation of Co nanoparticles in both the proteinase fabrication process and during the degradation of proteinaceous materials induce proteinase *** approach could be extended to modulate the productivity and activity of similar biomolecules.
