Simple Quantitation of Flucytosine in Low Volume Serum Samples and Evaluation of Common Endogenous Interferences by HPLC-UV

5-Fluorocytosine (5-FC) is used for the treatment of several infections. It is extremely important to monitor blood level concentration for maximum activity to avoid its side effects. A simple, faster, and more accurate analytical method is developed and validated using high-performance liquid chromatography with UV detection in a very low-volume serum sample. Exactly 50 μL of serum was precipitated with 5% trichloroacetic acid. After mixing and centrifugation, 20 μL of supernatant was injected into the HPLC column. Detection was performed at 280 nm. The method is very specific and free from interfering substances due to different drugs and their different circulating metabolites. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were found to be 0.50 μg/L and 1.0 μg/L, respectively. The method was linear in the range of 5 - 150 μg/L in the serum sample. In method comparison, the correlation coefficient r2 was 0.999 and the percentage recovery was 90% - 105% on four levels of the quality control samples. Within run and between run precision was found to be less than 2.2% at four different concentrations (5, 25, 50, and 100 μg/L). A simple, faster, and more accurate HPLC-UV method is developed which is very useful for monitoring 5-FC concentration in low volume serum samples without evaporation step and ion exchange chromatography within minutes.

Hearing impairment affects over two-thirds of adults with diabetes. We investigated whether rat models of type 1 and type 11 diabetes display impaired auditory function. Tympanometry measurements were conducted in Sprague-Dawley rats (control, n = 20), streptozotocin-induced type I diabetic Sprague-Dawley rats (n = 20) at 42 - 56 days old;Zucker rats (Hos: ZFDM-Lean (fa/+, n = 20) and Zucker Type 2 Diabetic rats (ZFDM (Hos: ZFDM-fa/fa);n = 20)), 90 days old. All rats were male. Control animals had normal type A tympanograms. Tweny one (75%) of the tympanic membranes in the diabetic type I group produced abnormal tympanograms: 46% were type B, 28% had no peak found, and 1% were type C. The ear canal measurements were lower in the left ear in type I mice (0.19 ± 0.07) and higher in the left ear for type II mice (0.23 ± 0.15 ml) compared to the controls of 0.39 ± 0.14 ml) and (0.2 ± 0.12 ml) respectively (P < 0.0001). The compliances for the right ear and left ear were lower for the type II diabetic group (0.18 ± 0.05 ml) and (0.18 ± 0.05 ml) compared to the control group (0.28 ± 0.19 ml) and (0.28 ± 0.49 ml) (P < 0.0001) respectively. In conclusion, control rats exhibited type A tympanograms with a highly functional middle ear system. Diabetic type I rats (n = 20) mostly exhibited type B tympanograms with a less compliant middle ear system. Compliance was reduced in the diabetic type I and II animals compared to the control. Future studies should utilise histological methods alongside tympanometry. Sections of the middle ear could be used to analyze ossicle size and confirm size differences. This information would be useful in avenues for treatment options for hearing loss in diabetes.

The enhancement of medical images is a challenging research task due to the unforeseeable variation in the quality of the captured *** captured images may present with low contrast and low visibility,which might inuence the accuracy of the diagnosis *** overcome this problem,this paper presents a new fractional integral entropy(FITE)that estimates the unforeseeable probabilities of image pixels,posing as the main contribution of the *** proposed model dynamically enhances the image based on the image *** main advantage of FITE lies in its capability to enhance the low contrast intensities through pixels’***,the pixel probability of the fractional power is utilized to extract the illumination value from the pixels of the ***,the contrast of the image is then adjusted to enhance the regions with low ***,the fractional integral entropy approach is implemented to enhance the low visibility contents from the input *** were conducted on brain MRI,lungs CT,and kidney MRI scans datasets of different image qualities to show that the proposed model is robust and can withstand dramatic variations in *** obtained comparative results show that the proposed image enhancement model achieves the best BRISQUE and NIQE ***,this model improves the details of brain MRI,lungs CT,and kidney MRI scans,and could therefore potentially help the medical staff during the diagnosis process.

The nonlocal nonlinear Schr?dinger equation(NNLSE) with competing weakly nonlocal nonlinearity and parabolic law nonlinearity is explored in the current work. A powerful integration tool, which is a modified form of the simple equation method, is used to construct the dark and singular 1-soliton solutions. It is shown that the modified simple equation method provides an effective and powerful mathematical gadget for solving various types of NNLSEs.

Electrochemical N2 reduction offers a promising alternative to the Haber-Bosch process for sustainable NH3 synthesis at ambient conditions,but it needs efficient catalysts for the N2 reduction reaction(NRR).Here,we report that FeOOH quantum dots decorated graphene sheet acts as a superior catalyst toward enhanced electrocatalytic N2 reduction to NH3 under ambient *** 0.1 M LiClO4,this hybrid attains a large NH3 yield rate and a high Faradaic efficiency of 27.3µg·h^−1·mg−*** 14.6%at−0.4 V *** hydrogen electrode,respectively,rivalling the current efficiency of all Fe-based NRR electrocatalysts in aqueous *** also shows strong durability during the electrolytic process.

In the present study we reported the feasibility of the Anethum graveolens as biosorbent to remove Pb(II) from aqueous solutions. Anethum graveolens was characterized by scanning electron microscopy and elemental analysis. The ability of Anethum graveolens to adsorb Pb(II) was investigated by using batch adsorption procedure. The effects such as pH, contact time, adsorbate concentration and biosorbent dosage on the adsorption capacity were studied. The experimental data were analysed using various adsorption kinetic models viz., the pseudo-first and second-order equations, Bangham’s equation, intraparticle diffusion and Elovich models. Results show that the pseudo-second-order equation provides the best correlation for the biosorption process. The equilibrium nature of Pb(II) adsorption at 30℃ has been described by the Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Redlich-Peterson isotherm models. The equilibrium data fit well on Langmuir isotherm. The monolayer adsorption capacity of Pb(II) onto Anethum graveolens as obtained from Langmuir isotherm at 30℃ was found to be 303 mg/g. This high adsorption capacity of Anethum graveolens places this biosorbent as one of the best adsorbents for removal of Pb(II) from aqueous effluents.
