Fungal d.versity on fallen leaves of Ficus in northern Thailand

Fallen leaves of Ficus altissima, F. virens, F. benjamina, F. fistulosa and.F. semicord.ta, were collected.in Chiang Mai Province in northern Thailand.and.examined.for fungi. Eighty taxa were id.ntified. comprising 56 anamorphic taxa, 23 ascomycetes and.l basid.omycete. Common fungal species occurring on five host species with high frequency of occurrence were Beltraniella nilgirica, Lasiod.plod.a theobromae, Ophioceras leptosporum, Periconia byssoid.s and.Septonema harknessi. Colletotrichum and.Stachybotrys were also common genera. The leaves of d.fferent Ficus species supported.d.verse fungal taxa, and.the fungal assemblages on the d.fferent hosts showed.varying overlap. The fungal d.versity of saprobes at the host species level is d.scussed.

We present an overview of previous research results on the molecular phylogenetic analyses in Agaricales and.its higher ranks (Agaricomycetes/Agaricomycotina/Basid.omycota) along with the most recent treatments of taxonomic systems in these taxa. Establishing phylogenetic hypotheses using d.A sequences, from which an und.rstand.ng of the natural evolutionary relationships amongst clad.s may be d.rived. requires a robust d.taset. It has been recognized.that single-gene phylogenies may not truly represent organismal phylogenies, but the concord.nt phylogenetic genealogies from multiple-gene d.tasets can resolve this problem. The genes commonly used.in mushroom phylogenetic research are summarized.

Sporid.smiopsis zhejiangensis sp. nov. and.Spad.coid.s americana were found.on submerged.wood.from streams in Zhejiang Province, China. Sporid.smiopsis zhejiangensis is characterized.by obclavate to fusiform, 5-6-d.stoseptate, versicolor-ous, verruculose conid.a with an apical mucilaginous sheath. Spad.coid.s americana is a new record.to China. These taxa are d.scribed.and.illustrated. and.morphological d.fferences between these species and.their similar species were summarized.

在 1998 - 2 0 0 0年期间在中国香港和云南省昆明市共发现了 11种小花口壳属种类 :风梨小花口壳 (An thostomellabromeliaceae) ,文莱小花口壳 (A bruneiensis) ,南非小花口壳 (A caffraiae) ,致病小花口壳 (A contaninans) ,被毛小花口壳 (A flagellariae) ,异型小花口壳 (A irregularispora) ,长孢小花口壳 (A lon ga) ,棕竹小花口壳 (A raphiae) ,瑞氏小花口壳 (A rehmii) ,竹生小花口壳 (A sepelibilis)和单列小花口壳(A uniseriata)。其中有 3种为香港新记录种 :风梨小花口壳 (Anthostomellabromeliaceae) ,文莱小花口壳(A bruneiensis) ,南非小花口壳 (A caffraiae)。

In the present paper, asimple mechanical mod.lis d.veloped.to pred.ct thed.namic response of a cracked.structure subjected.to period.c excitation, which has been used.to id.ntify the physical mechanisms in lead.ng the growth or arrest of cracking. The structure und.r consid.ration consists of a beam with a crack along the axis, and.thus, the crack may open in Mod. I and.in the axial d.rection propagate when the beam vibrates. In this paper, the system is mod.led.as a cantilever beam lying on a partial elastic found.tion, where the portion of the beam on the found.tion represents the intact portion of the beam. Mod.l analysis is employed.to obtain a closed.form solution for the structural response. Crack propagation is stud.ed.by allowing the elastic found.tion to shorten （mimicking crack growth） if a d.splacement criterion, based.on the material toughness, is met. As the crack propagates, the structural mod.l is upd.ted.using the new found.tion length and.the response continues. From this work, two mechanisms for crack arrest are id.ntified. It is also shown that the crack propagation is strongly influenced.by the transient response of the structure.

Obligate anaerobic fungi of the phylum Neocallimastigomycota play a key role in d.gesting fibrous feed. in the gut ofherbivores, but little is known about their global d.versity. In this stud., the collective d.versity of gut anaerobic fungi wasexamined.using all curated.internal transcribed.spacer 1 (ITS1) sequences of anaerobic gut fungi available in *** 262,770 quality-checked.fungal ITS1 sequences d.wnload.d.from GenBank were assigned.to 274 operational taxonomic units (OTUs) at the approximate species level. Of these approximate species-equivalent (Sp-eq) OTUs, 119 wererepresented.by at least five ITS1 sequences, with 38 containing known species and.81 containing no known species. Based.n a rarefaction analysis, the currently available ITS1 sequences represent nearly all the major species of gut anaerobicfungi, but much more sequencing effort is need.d.to assess the actual richness of minor OTUs. One d.taset of ITS1reference sequences (referred.to as AF-RefSeq) and.one comprehensive taxonomic framework are also presented. and.theyare shown to be suitable for taxonomic classification of most of the ITS1 sequences in GenBank. The results of the presentstud. may help guid. future stud.es involving taxonomic and.phylogenetic analysis of ITS1 sequences of anaerobic fungiand.targeted.isolation and.characterization of new anaerobic fungi.
