The elec.roc.talyst NiFeRuO_(x)/NF,c.mprised of NiFeRuO_(x)nanosheets grown on Ni foam,was synthesized using a hydrothermal proc.ss followed by thermal ***_(x)/NF displays high elec.roc.talytic.ac.ivity and stability for overall alkaline seawater splitting:98 mV@10 mA∙c.^(−2)in hydrogen evolution reac.ion,318 mV@50 mA∙c.^(−2)in oxygen evolution reac.ion,and a c.ll voltage of 1.53 V@10 mA∙c.^(−2),as well as 20 h of durability.A solar-driven system c.ntaining suc. a bifunc.ional NiFeRuO_(x)/NF has an almost 100%Faradaic.*** NiFeRuO_(x)c.ating around Ni foam is an anti-c.rrosion layer and also a c.itic.l fac.or for enhanc.ment of bifunc.ional performanc.s.

c.rrent models for pressure drop predic.ion of slug flow pneumatic.c.nveying in a horizontal pipeline system assume some type of steady state c.nditions for predic.ion, whic. limits their c.pability for inc.eased predic.ive ac.urac. relative to experimental data. This is partly bec.use of the nature of slug flow pneumatic.c.nveying system, whic., as a dynamic.system, never bec.mes stable. By utilising c.nservation of mass （airflow）, a dynamic.pressure analysis model is proposed on the basis of the derivative of the upstream pressure behaviour. The rate of air permeation through slug, one of the important fac.ors in the c.nservation model, is expressed as a func.ion of a slug permeability fac.or. Other fac.ors suc. as slug veloc.ty, slug length and the frac.ion of stationary layer were also c.nsidered. Several test materials were c.nveyed in single-slug tests to verify the proposed pressure drop model, showing good agreement between the model and experimental results.

A fungal pathogen, c.lletotric.um gloeosporioides was isolated from a greenhouse-grown seedling of c.ffee senna (c.ssia oc.identalis) and evaluated as a myc.herbic.de for that weed. Host range tests revealed that c.ffee senna, wild senna (c. marilandic.), and sic.lepod (c. obtusifolia) were also affec.ed by this pathogen, but 35 other c.op and weed spec.es, representing 8 botanic.l families were not affec.ed. The fungus sporulated prolific.lly on solid and liquid media with maximum spore germination and growth oc.urring at 20°c.- 30°c. Optimal environmental c.nditions inc.uded at least 12 h of free moisture (dew) at 20°c.- 30°c. Spray mixtures c.ntaining approximately 1.0 × 105 or more c.nidia·ml–1 gave maximum c.ntrol when c.ffee senna seedlings were sprayed until runoff oc.urred. c.ffee senna seedlings that were in the c.tyledon to first-leaf growth stage were most susc.ptible to this pathogen. Weed c.ntrol effic.c. studies under field c.nditions demonstrated that c.ntrol of c.ffee senna was direc.ly proportional to the inoc.lum c.nc.ntration applied. Results of these tests suggest that this fungus has potential as a myc.herbic.de to c.ntrol c.ffee senna, a serious weed in the southeastern U.S.

The fungus Myrothec.um verruc.ria (Alb. & Sc.wein.) (MV), originally isolated from diseased sic.lepod (Senna obtusifolia L.), has bioherbic.al ac.ivity against kudzu and several other weeds when applied with low c.nc.ntrations of the surfac.ant Silwet L-77. To more fully understand the initial events of MV infec.ion or disease progression, and to improve knowledge related to its mec.anism of ac.ion, the effec.s of MV and its produc. (roridin A) on kudzu seedlings were examined at the ultrastruc.ural level. Ultrastruc.ural analysis of MV effec.s on kudzu seedlings revealed a rapid (~1 h after treatment) detac.ment of the protoplast from the c.ll wall and plasmodesmata appeared to be broken off and retained in the wall. These symptoms oc.urred well in advanc. of the appearanc. of any fungal growth struc.ures. Some fungal growth was observed after severe tissue degeneration (24 to 48 h after treatment), but this oc.urred primarily at the extra-c.llular loc.tion with respec. to the kudzu tissues. Kudzu seedlings treated with roridin A, a tric.othec.ne produc.d by the fungus, exhibited some symptoms similar to those induc.d by the fungus applied in spore formulations with surfac.ant. The overall results are the first to report the ultrastruc.ural effec.s of this bioherbic.de on plants and suggest that penetration of a phytotoxic.substanc.(s) in the fungal formulation was fac.litated by the surfac.ant, and that roridin A exerts phytotoxic.ty toward kudzu.

c.rrent modelling tec.niques for the predic.ion of c.nveying line pressure drop in low veloc.ty dense phase pneumatic.c.nveying are largely based on steady state analyses. Work in this area has been on-going for many years with only marginal improvements in the ac.urac. of predic.ion being ac.ieved. Experimental and theoretic.l investigations undertaken by the authors suggest that the flow mec.anisms involved in dense phase c.nveying are dominated by transient effec.s rather than those of steady state and are possibly the princ.pal reasons for the limited improvement in ac.urac.. This paper reports on investigations on the pressure fluc.uation behaviour in dense phase pneumatic.c.nveying of powders. The pressure behaviour of the gas flow in the top sec.ion of the pipeline was found to exhibit pulsatile osc.llations. In partic.lar, the pulse veloc.ty showed variation in magnitude while the frequenc. of the osc.llations rarely exc.eded 5 Hz. A wavelet analysis using the Daubec.ie 4 wavelet found that the amplitude of the osc.llations inc.eased along the pipeline. Furthermore, there was signific.nt variation in gas pulse amplitude for different types of partic.late material.
