Damage evolution of rock-encased-backfill structure under stepwise cyclic triaxial loading

rock-encased-backfill(rB)structures are common in underground mining,for example in the cut-andfill and stoping *** understand the effects of cyclic excavation and blasting activities on the damage of these rB structures,a series of triaxial stepwise-increasing-amplitude cyclic loading experiments was conducted with cylindrical rB specimens(rock on outside,backfill on inside)with different volume fractions of rock(VF=0.48,0.61,0.73,and 0.84),confining pressures(0,6,9,and 12 MPa),and cyclic loading rates(200,300,400,and 500 N/s).The damage evolution and meso-crack formation during the cyclic tests were analyzed with results from stress-strain hysteresis loops,acoustic emission events,and post-failure X-ray 3D fracture *** results showed significant differences between cyclic and monotonic loadings of rB specimens,particularly with regard to the generation of shear microcracks,the development of stress memory and strain hardening,and the contact forces and associated friction that develops along the rock-backfill *** important finding is that as a function of the number of cycles,the elastic strain increases linearly and the dissipated energy increases ***,compared with monotonic loading,the cyclic strain hardening characteristics are more sensitive to rising confining pressures during the initial compaction *** finding is that compared with monotonic loading,more shear microcracks are generated during every reloading stage,but these microcracks tend to be dispersed and lessen the likelihood of large shear fracture *** transition from elastic to plastic behavior varies depending on the parameters of each test(confinement,volume fraction,and cyclic rate),and an interesting finding was that the transformation to plastic behavior is significantly lower under the conditions of 0.73 rock volume fraction,400 N/s cyclic loading rate,and 9 MPa *** the findings have important practical implications on t

Thigmotropism and thigmomorphogenesis are two related and pervasive processes that play crucial roles in plant adaptation to the ***,there have been few investigations into the molecular regulatory mechanisms of these ***(Cucumis sativus L.)tendrils are ideal material for studying thigmotropism and thigmomorphogenesis because they display a combination of the two ***,we generated the transcriptome profiles of cucumber tendrils at the young,stretch,and coiling *** related to receptor proteins,transmembrane transport,and ion transport were significantly enriched among those differentially expressed between *** assays illustrated that three GLUTAMATE rECEPTOr(GLr)genes might play a vital function in perceiving or transducing touch stimulation *** the transcriptomes of tendrils and roots after touch stimulation,we found that genes related to extracellular stimulus and xyloglucan metabolism might have conserved functions in the regulation of *** transcriptome atlas of thigmotropism and thigmomorphogenesis of cucumber tendrils constructed in this study will help further elucidate the molecular mechanisms behind these processes.

Our feet are often subjected to moist and warm environments,which can promote the growth of harmful bacteria and the development of severe infection in wounds located in the *** a result,there is a need for new and innovative strategies to safely sterilize feet,when shoes are worn,to prevent any potential foot-related *** this paper,we have produced a non-destructive,biocompatible and convenient-to-use insole by embedding a BaTiO3(BT)ferroelectric material into a conventional polydimethylsilane(PDMS)insole material to exploit a ferroelectric catalytic effect to promote the antibacterial and healing of infected wounds via the ferroelectric charges generated during *** formation of reactive oxygen species generated through a ferroelectric catalytic effect in the PDMS-BT composite is shown to increase the oxidative stress on bacteria and decrease both the activity of bacteria and the rate of formation of bacterial *** addition,the ferroelectric field generated by the PDMS-BT insole can enhance the level of transforming growth factor-beta and CD31 by influencing the endogenous electric field of a wound,thereby promoting the proliferation,differentiation of fibroblasts and *** work therefore provides a new route for antimicrobial and tissue reconstruction by integrating a ferroelectric biomaterial into a shoe insole,with significant potential for health-related applications.

"Who will feed China?"This was a question raised by Lester Brown,the director of the World Watch Institute in the United States,in *** predicted that China's grain production would decrease from 340 million tons in 1990 to 272 million tons by 2030,a 20%decrease,while China's population would reach 1.6 billion(Brown,1995).If the dietary structure was not improved,China would need to import 200-369 million tons of grain,equivalent to the global grain trade at the *** projected the high possibility of a food crisis in China,which might further trigger a global food ***,with the joint efforts of national agricultural researchers,represented by Yuan Longping,and the Chinese government,China's grain production has achieved 18 consecutive increases from 2004 to *** 2022,grain production in China reached 633 million tons(NBS and Statistics,2022),while the population remained stable at 1.4 *** a result,China has achieved complete self-sufficiency in its staple food supply and has demonstrated to the international community through practical actions that the Chinese people can feed themselves.

Temperature and precipitation are the main factors determining plant community succession and aboveground net primary productivity(ANPP)in natural ***,most climate manipulative experiments have mainly focused on their impacts in isolation,especially in alpine *** we explored the relative effects and interaction of warming and precipitation alteration on succession and ANPP using a 7-year experiment involving warming with precipitation alteration(increase(IP)or decrease(DP))in precipitation relative to ambient precipitation(AP)on the Tibetan *** results showed that warming and warm-wet conditions increased species richness,diversity index,height and cover of overall ***,decreasing precipitation reduced them,but increased *** and the rate of change in community ***,warming mitigated the impacts of decreased precipitation on plant community composition,and the interactive effects of warming and altered precipitation on cover,height and plant ANPP varied with year and plant ***,warming increased community ANPP through increases in forb ANPP or non-dominant species ANPP and biodiversity regardless of change in ***,decreased precipitation reduced community ANPP via decreases in the ANPP of sedges and forbs and *** alteration affected the relationship between biodiversity and community ANPP regardless of warming(IPrefore,generally warming and decreased precipitation have opposite effects on ANPP in the alpine grassland,suggesting that warming mitigated the negative impacts of drought on the ANPP of the alpine grassland.

Long-term deposition of atmospheric pollutants emitted from coal combustion and their effects on the eco-environment have been extensively studied around coal-fired power ***,the effects of coal-fired power plants on soil microbial communities have received little attention through atmospheric pollutant deposition and ***,we collected the samples of power plant soils(PS),coal-stacking soils(CSS)and agricultural soils(AS)around three coal-fired power plants and background control soils(BG)in Huainan,a typical mineral resource-based city in East China,and investigated the microbial diversity and community structures through a high-throughput sequencing ***-stacking significantly increased(prbon,total nitrogen,total sulfur and Mo in the soils,whereas the deposition of atmospheric pollutants enhanced the levels of V,Cu,Zn and ***,Actinobacteria,Thaumarchaeota,Thermoplasmata,Ascomycota and Basidiomycota were the dominant taxa in all *** bacterial community showed significant differences(preas archaeal and fungal communities showed significant differences(prding to soil samples around three coal-fired power *** predominant environmental variables affecting soil bacterial,archaeal and fungal communities were Mo-TN-TS,Cu-V-Mo,and organic matter(OM)-Mo,*** soil microbial genera were closely related to multiple key factors associated with stacking coal and heavy metal deposition from power *** study provided useful insight into better understanding of the relationships between soil microbial communities and long-term disturbances from coal-fired power plants.

Accurate positioning is one of the essential requirements for numerous applications of remote sensing data,especially in the event of a noisy or unreliable satellite *** this end,we present a novel framework for aircraft geo-localization in a large range that only requires a downward-facing monocular camera,an altimeter,a compass,and an open-source Vector Map(VMAP).The algorithm combines the matching and particle filter *** vector and correlation between two building contour vectors are defined,and a coarse-to-fine building vector matching(CFBVM)method is proposed in the matching stage,for which the original matching results are described by the Gaussian mixture model(GMM).Subsequently,an improved resampling strategy is designed to reduce computing expenses with a huge number of initial particles,and a credibility indicator is designed to avoid location mistakes in the particle filter *** experimental evaluation of the approach based on flight data is *** a flight at a height of 0.2 km over a flight distance of 2 km,the aircraft is geo-localized in a reference map of 11,025 km~2using 0.09 km~2aerial images without any prior *** absolute localization error is less than 10 m.

Morphology-dependent activation of hydrogen peroxide with Cu_(2)O for tetracycline hydrochloride degradation in bicarbonate aqueous solution

The design of efficient heterogeneous catalysts in bicarbonate-activated hydrogen peroxide systems(BAP)is a hot topic in wastewater *** this work,Cu_(2)O nanoparticles with different morphologies including cubic shape(c-Cu_(2)O),octahedron shape(o-Cu_(2)O)and spherical shape(s-Cu_(2)O),were applied in BAP for the first time to degrade tetracycline hydrochloride(TC).Compared with Cu^(2+)ions and CuO,TC degradation was boosted in the presence of Cu_(2)O in the BAP system,with the degradation rate following the order c-Cu_(2)O>o-Cu_(2)O>s-Cu_(2)*** morphology-dependent effects could be linearly correlated with the ratio of surface oxygen species(O_S),but not with the surface area or Cu(Ⅰ)*** c-Cu_(2)O catalyst with exposure of(100)facets contained 76.6%O_Sas the active site for H_(2)O_(2)adsorption and activation,while the value was much lower for o-Cu_(2)O and s-Cu_(2)O with dominant(111)*** presence of HCO_(3)-enhanced the interactions among Cu_(2)O,H_(2)O_(2)and TC,leading to facile oxidation of Cu(Ⅰ)to Cu(Ⅱ)by H_(2)O_(2),and the formation of various reactive species such as hydroxyl radicals and Cu(Ⅲ)contributed to TC *** work provides a new method for enhancing H_(2)O_(2)activation with heterogeneous catalysts by crystal facet engineering.

To investigate the enhancing effect of Mn on the performance of simultaneous catalytic oxidation of AsH_(3)and PH_(3)by CuO-Al_(2)O_(3)in a reducing atmosphere under micro-oxygen conditions,Cu-Mn modifiedγ-Al_(2)O_(3)catalysts were *** characteristics of the catalysts showed that Mn reduced the crystallinity of the active CuO component,increased the number of oxygen vacancies and acidic sites on the catalyst surface,enhanced the mobility of surface oxygen,and the interaction between copper and manganese promoted the redox cycling ability of the catalysts and improved their oxidation performance,which increased the conversion frequency(TOF)by 2.54×10^(-2)to 3.07×10^(-2)sec^(-1).On the other hand,the introduction of Mn reduced the production of phosphate and As_(2)O_(3)on the catalyst surface by30.96%and 44.9%,which reduced the coverage and inerting of the active sites by phosphate and As_(2)O_(3),resulting in an 8 hr(6 hr)improvement in the stability of PH_(3)(AsH_(3))removal.
