Fluorescent Proteins(FP)can be applied as biom.rkers and biosensors in the industrial and m.dical fields,but their large-scale use,especially for new industrial applications,is lim.ted due to their low ***,the discovery of additives capable of preserving the activity of FP at room.tem.erature and under stress conditions can help to expand and facilitate their com.ercial *** this goal,we evaluated the application of 1-alkyl-3-m.thylim.dazolium.chloride-based([C_(n)m.m.Cl)ionic liquids(ILs)as additives to preserve the activity of Enhanced Green Fluorescent Protein(EGFP)at different storage tim.s and under unfavorable ***[C_(n)m.m.Cl solutions(at 0.100 m.l L^(-1))were able to preserve EGFP fluorescence for longer than the phosphatesaline buffer(PBS)and NaCl solutions,increasing its fluorescence m.nifestation from.1 to 3 m.nths.[C_(n)m.m.Cl with shorter to m.dium.cationic alkyl chains were the m.st effective in preserving EGFP fluorescence.[C_(n)m.m.Cl also protected EGFP activity in the presence of the surfactant SDS,the acid guanidine hydrochloride,and H_(2)O_(2).Therefore,[C_(n)m.m.Cl can be added to aqueous solutions to preserve EGFP fluorescence activity at room.tem.erature for longer storage tim.s and to reduce the negative im.act of denaturing agents on ***,there is a m.ssive potential for the application of ILs as additives to preserve FP in the long-term.without refrigeration and under unfavorable conditions,and this is fundam.ntal to enable expansion of FP in industrial and com.ercial applications.

Dry bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) has the ability to form.sym.iotic relationships with N2-fixing bacteria. The research objectives were to evaluate yield and growth differences between dry bean cultivars from.black, navy, and pinto m.rket classes, with different N m.nagem.nt com.inations utilizing urea fertilizer, and two rhizobacteria inoculants. Research was conducted near Park River and Prosper, ND, during 2010, 2012, 2013. The experim.nt was a RCBD 3 × 2 × 3 factorial with four replicates with three dry bean cultivars, two N fertility levels, and two rhizobacteria inoculum.sources plus a non-inoculated treatm.nt. The pinto cultivar was also evaluated in 2014. Results showed significant cultivar m.in effect differences for nodules per plant, vigor, height, and 1000 seed weight. The pinto cultivar had significantly m.re nodules per root (19) com.ared with the black (13) and navy cultivars (9). There were not significant differences between inoculant treatm.nts. The fertilizer m.in effect indicated significant differences for vigor and 1000 seed weight. No significant interactions were detected am.ng factors. Addition of 56 kg N ha-1 resulted in m.re vigorous plants, but had no effect on seed yield, and reduced 1000 seed weight at harvest at Park River in 2013. Root nodule num.er was higher with the inoculant treatm.nts with 16.2 and 15.8 nodules per plant com.ared to the non-inoculated treatm.nt with 10.7 nodules per plant at Park River in 2013. The pinto variety Lariat with an application of 56 kg ha-1 had visually greener plants in 2013 and 2014, except Park River in 2013, but SPAD readings were not following the sam. trend. Inoculation and application of N fertilizer on dry bean m.y not be necessary if rhizobacteria are present and soil N levels are sufficiently high but future research on rates, tim.ng, and N source and appropriate strains of Rhizobia inoculant on other pinto varieties is suggested.

Cretaceous am.er from.m.anm.r(～99 m. Burm.se am.er) has becom. a valuable supplem.nt to the traditional skeletal record of sm.ll theropod dinosaurs preserved in sedim.ntary rocks, particularly for coelurosaurs and enantiornithines. The specim.ns recovered from.this deposit preserve skeletal m.terial and soft tissues in unm.tched detail. This provides opportunities to study three-dim.nsional preservation of soft tissues, m.crostructure, and pigm.ntation patterns that are seldom.available elsewhere in the fossil record. Ultim.tely, this line of research provides insights into life stages that are difficult to preserve, the ecology and appearance of the groups involved, and the evolutionarydevelopm.nt of structures such as feathers. Here we describe the m.st recent discovery from.Burm.se am.er, an articulated skeleton of an enantiornithine bird. This individual has been sectioned along the coronal plane, providing a unique view inside m.ltiple body regions. Osteological observations and plum.ge patterns support placem.nt within the Enantiornithes, and suggest that the anim.l m.y have been a juvenile at the tim. of death. The specim.n has a com.lex taphonom.c history that includes exposure at the surface of a resin flow prior to encapsulation, and m.y include scavenging by som. of the insects trapped within the sam. am.er piece. The chem.cal com.osition observed along surface exposures and shallowly buried regions of the body indicate that the specim.n has not undergone significant exchange with its surroundings. High iron concentrations are present in regions that preserve soft tissues as carbon film., and calcium.distribution corresponds to regions where bones breach the surface of the am.er.

The ability of som. nanostructured m.terials to perform.as effective heterogeneous catalysts is potentially hindered by the failure of the liquid reactant to effectively wet the solid catalyst surface. In this work, two different chem.cal reactions, each involving a change of phase from.liquid to gas on a solid catalyst surface, are investigated. The first reaction is the catalyzed decom.osition of a H2O2 m.nopropellant within a m.cro-chem.cal reactor cham.er, decorated with RuO2 nanorods (NRs). The second reaction involves the electrolysis of dilute aqueous solutions of H2SO4 perform.d with the cathode electrode coated with different densities and sizes of RuO2 NRs. In the catalyzed H2O2 decom.osition, the reaction rate is observed to decrease with increasing catalyst surface density because of a failure of the liquid to wet on the catalyst surface. In the electrolysis experim.nt, however, the reaction rate increased in proportion to the surface density of RuO2 NRs. In this case, the electrical bias applied to drive the electrolysis reaction also causes an electrostatic force of attraction between the fluid and the NR coated surface, and thus assures effective wetting.
