Insect gut sym.iotic m.crobiota play essential roles in the growth, developm.nt, pathogenesis and environm.ntal adaptation of host insects. The m.lecular and system. level analysis of insect gut sym.iotic m.crobial com.unity will allow us to discover novel biocatalysts for biom.ss deconstruction and to develop innovative strategies for pest m.nagem.nt. We hereby review the various m.lecular biology techniques as applied to insect gut sym.iont analysis. This review aim. to serve as an inform.tive resource for experim.ntal design and research strategy developm.nt in the field. We first discuss various strategies for sam.le preparation and their pros and cons. The traditional m.lecular techniques like DGGE, RFLP and FISH are covered with respect to how they are applied to study the com.osition, diversity and dynam.cs of insect gut sym.iotic m.crobiota. We then focus on the various ＇ om.cs＇ techniques. The m.tagenom. analysis together with the recent advancem.nts in next-generation sequencing will provide enorm.us sequencing inform.tion, allowing in-depth m.crobial diversity analysis and m.deling of pathways for biological processes such as biom.ss degradation. The m.tagenom. sequencing will also enable the study of system.dynam.cs and gene expression with m.tatranscriptom. and m.taproteom. m.thods. The integration of different ＇om.cs＇ level data will allow us to understand how insect gut works as a system.to carry out its functions. The m.lecular and system.-level understanding will also guide the reverse design of next-generation biorefinery.

This paper describes an approach to identify epicyclic and tricyclic m.tion during projectile flight caused by m.ss asym.etries in spinstabilized projectiles. Flight video was captured following projectile launch of several m.10A2E1 155 m. artillery projectiles. These videos were then analyzed using the autom.ted flight video analysis m.thod to attain their initial position and orientation *** of the pitch and yaw histories clearly indicates that in addition to epicyclic m.tion's nutation and precession oscillations, an even faster wobble am.litude is present during each spin revolution, even though som. of the am.litudes of the oscillation are sm.ller than 0.02 *** results are com.ared to a sequence of shots where little appreciable m.ss asym.etries were present, and only nutation and precession frequencies are predom.nantly apparent in the m.tion history results. m.gnitudes of the wobble m.tion are estim.ted and com.ared to product of inertia m.asurem.nts of the asym.etric projectiles.

Charcot-m.rie-Tooth disease (Cm.) is a hereditary peripheral neuropathy characterized by progressive distal m.scle weakness and wasting. If conservative treatm.nt fails, or is not appropriately initiated, deform.ty, im.obility and chronic pain m.y result. In severe cases, surgical intervention m.y be required. With the exception of case reports and case series, lim.ted safety and efficacy data exists regarding the use of neuraxial and regional anesthesia for patients with Cm.. This paper describes an anesthetic case report of a patient with Cm., and also provides a review of general and regional anesthetic considerations for this cohort. The purpose of this report is to highlight the potential benefits of neuraxial and regional anesthesia in patients with neurom.scular disorders, especially in settings where intra- and post-operative resources m.y be lim.ted.

Neck injuries are significant causes of m.rbidity and m.rtality, and their chronic form. due to repetitive or sustained physical acts(e.g., prolonged use of m.bile phone with a dropped head) are becom.ng increasingly m.re prevalent. m.ny injuries are preventable but the prevention and control requires a clear basic understanding of the neck biom.chanics. In this paper, we describe a first-of-its-kind study that integrates a gam.t of state-of-the-art im.ging m.dalities(dynam.c radiography, com.uted tom.graphy(CT), and m.gnetic resonance im.ging(m.I)) and biodynam.c m.asurem.nts(m.tion capture, electrom.ography(Em.), force sensing), thereby investigating holistically the in vivo responses of the neck and its various interconnected m.sculoskeletal com.onents during functional activities. We present a sam.le of findings to illustrate how the integrations at m.ltiple levels can enable creating truly subject-specific neck m.sculoskeletal m.dels and attaining novel insights that otherwise would be unattainable by a singular or subset of approaches.

Laparoscopic Resection of a Urachal-Sigm.id Fistula in a Heart Transplant Patient

Introduction: Urachal rem.ants are rare in adulthood with only a few cases of urachal-sigm.id fistula reported in the literature. We report the first case of a laparoscopic resection of a urachal-sigm.id fistula resulting from.diverticulitis in an im.unosuppressed heart transplant patient. Case Description: The patient is a 43-year-old m.le who underwent an orthotopic heart transplant one m.nth prior for dilated cardiom.opathy. His presenting sym.tom.was abdom.nal pain and im.ging showed a sigm.id-urachal fistula. A laparoscopic sigm.idectom. with resection of the urachal cyst and drainage of pelvic abscess was perform.d. The cyst was found to be contiguous and inseparable from.the bladder, and therefore a sm.ll cuff of bladder was included with the specim.n followed by prim.ry laparoscopic cystorrhaphy. He had an uncom.licated hospital course. Discussion: Our case contained several unique aspects that altered the ultim.te care and hospital course of the patient. Im.unosuppressed patients possess m.ltiple risk factors predictive of poor surgical outcom.—infection, bleeding, and hollow organ perforation. The patient in this study was on m.ltiple im.unosuppressants and exhibited no peritoneal signs despite an elevated leukocytosis and som. worrisom. radiologic findings. Our decision to operate early was influenced by the aforem.ntioned factors and led to an uncom.licated recovery.

To the Editor,Tum.r invasion of the inferior vena cava(IVC)through direct erosion is a rare and poor prognostic feature of aggressive hepatic or perihepatic m.lignancies[1,2].Literature shows poor response to chem.therapy,such that resection often is the only option for im.roved survival[3].m.ltidisciplinary collaborations can expand technical options;incorporation of transplant techniques has led to successful R0 resection involving difficult vascular reconstruction and extended resection[4,5].This study describes and analyzes the ten-year collaborative experience of hepatobiliary(HPB)surgeons in m.nagem.nt of m.lignancies involving the perihepatic IVC.

Here we dem.nstrate a theory-driven, novel dual-shell coating system.of Li_(2)SrSiO_(4) and Al_(2)O_(3), achieved via a facile and scalable sol-gel technique on LiCoO_(2) electrode particles. The optim.l thickness of each coating can lead to increased specific capacity(~185 m.Ah/g at 0.5 C-rate) at a cut-off potential of 4.5 V, and greater cycling stability at very high C rates(up to 10 C) in half-cells with lithium.m.tal. The m.chanism.of this superior perform.nce was investigated using a com.ination of X-ray and electron characterization m.thods. It shows that the results of this investigation can inform.future studies to identify still better dual-shell coating schem.s, achieved by such industrially feasible techniques, for application on sim.lar, nickel-rich cathode m.terials.
