Rapid and stable calcium-looping solar thermochemical energy storage via co-doping binary sulfate and Al±Mn±Fe oxides

Solar thermochemical energy storage based on calcium looping（CaL） process is a promising technology for next-generation concentrated solar power（CSP） systems. However, conventional calcium carbonate（CaCO3） pellets suffer from slow reaction kinetics, poor stability, and low solar absorptance. Here, we successfully realized high power density and highly stable solar thermochemical energy storage/release by synergistically accelerating energy storage/release via binary sulfate and promoting cycle stability, mechanical strength, and solar absorptance via Al±Mn±Fe oxides. The energy storage density of proposed CaCO3pellets is still as high as 1455 kJ kg-1with only a slight decay rate of 4.91% over 100 cycles, which is higher than that of state-of-the-art pellets in the literature, in stark contrast to 69.9% of pure CaCO3pellets over 35cycles. Compared with pure CaCO3, the energy storage power density or decomposition rate is improved by 120% due to lower activation energy and promotion of Ca2+diffusion by binary sulfate. The energy release or carbonation rate rises by 10% because of high O2-transport ability of molten binary sulfate. Benefiting from fast energy storage/release rate and high solar absorptance, thermochemical energy storage efficiency is enhanced by more than 50% under direct solar irradiation. This work paves the way for application of direct solar thermochemical energy storage techniques via achieving fast energy storage/release rate, high energy density, good cyclic stability, and high solar absorptance simultaneously.

A series of emission reduction measures were conducted in Wuhan,Central China,to ensure good air quality during the 7th Military World Games(MWG)in October *** better understand the implications for ozone(O_(3))pollution control strategies,we applied integrated analysis approaches based on the de-weathered statistical model,parameterization methods,chemical box model,and positive matrix factorization *** the MWG,concentrations of O_(3),NO_x,and volatile organic compound(VOCs),OFP(O_(3)formation potential),L_(OH)(OH radical loss rate)were 83μg/m^(3),43μg/m^(3),26 ppbv,188μg/m^(3),and 3.9 s^(-1),respectively,which were 26%,18%,3%,15%,and 13%lower than pre-MWG values and 6%,39%,30%,33%,and 50%lower than post-MWG values,*** removing meteorological influence,O_(3)and its precursors during the MWG decreased largely compared with post-MWG values,and only O_(3),NO_(2),and oxygenated VOCs(OVOCs)declined compared with pre-MWG values,which revealed the emission reduction measures during the MWG played an important role for O_(3)*** six VOCs sources,the mass contributions of biomass burning and solvents usage during the MWG decreased largely compared with pre-MWG values.O_(3)production was sensitive to VOCs and the key species were aromatics,OVOCs,and alkenes,which originated mainly from solvents usage,biomass burning,industrial-related combustion,and vehicle *** O_(3)concentration during the strict control was mainly caused by OVOCs reduction due to biomass burning ***,the O_(3)abatement strategies of Wuhan should be focused on the mitigation of high-reactivity VOCs.

A hybrid attention model based on first-order statistical features for smoke recognition

Smoke and fire recognition are of great importance on foreseeing fire disasters and preventing environmental pollution by monitoring the burning process of objects(e.g., straw, fuels). However, since fire images suffer from problems like the variability of the features, complexity of scenarios, interference from background, changeable weather conditions as well as image quality problems, identifying smoke and fire accurately and promptly from a given image still remains a substantial challenge. Automatically learning the features of smoke images by CNNs has improved the target recognition ability compared to traditional approaches,nonetheless, convolutions and pooling operations in CNNs may cause severe information loss which may lead to *** tackle the above problems, this paper proposed a hybrid attention model based on the characteristics of smoke images. This model adopted multiple optimized attention mechanism in several stages to quickly and precisely capture the important features,achieving state-of-the-art performance on smoke and fire recognition in terms of accuracy and speed. Our proposed module mainly consists of two stages: pooling and attention. In the first stage, we conducted several newly proposed first-order pooling methods. Through traversing the data space in a larger scope, features are better reserved, thus constructing a more intact feature space of smoke and fire in an image. In the second stage, feature maps are aggregated together to perform channel and spatial attention. The channel and spatial dependencies allow us to quickly catch the important features presented in an image. By fully exploring the feature space and prominent salient features, characteristics of smoke and fire are better presented so as to obtain better smoke and fire detection results. XS0601 REDUCES THE INCIDENCE OF RESTENOSIS: A PROSPECTIVE STUDY OF 335 PATIENTS UNDERGOING PERCUTANEOUS CORONARY INTERVENTION IN CHINA

Background XS0601, consisting of active ingredients （Chuangxiongol and paeoniflorin）, has been shown to inhibit arterial neointimal hyperplasia in animal models and in preliminary human studies. The objective of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of XS0601 in preventing restenosis following percutaneous coronary intervention （PCI）. Methods A multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was conducted. A total of 335 patients were randomized into treatment with the oral administration of XS0601, or a placebo for 6 months after successful PCI. Angiographic follow-up was scheduled at 6 months, and clinical follow-ups performed at 1, 3 and 6 months after PCI. The primary end point was angiographic restenosis. The secondary end points were the combined incidence of death, target lesion nonfatal myocardial infarction, repeat angioplasty, and coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Results A total of 308 patients （91.9%） completed the study and 145 cases （47.1%） received angiographic follow-up. The restenosis rates were significantly reduced in the XS0601 group as compared with the placebo group （26.0% vs. 47.2%, P 〈 0.05）, and the minimum lumen diameter （MLD） was greater [（2.08 ± 0.89） mm for XS0601 vs. （1.73 ± 0.94） mm for placebo, P 〈 0.05]. XS0601 also significantly reduced the combined incidence of major adverse cardiac event （10.4% in the XS0601 group vs. 22.7% in the placebo group, P 〈 0.05）. The incidence of recurrent angina at 3 and 6 months after PCI was also significantly reduced in XS0601 group （7.1% and 11.0%） as compared with those in placebo group （19.5% and 42.9%）（P 〈 0.05）. No significant side effects occurred within the 6-month follow-up period in the XS0601 group.Conclusion Administration of XS0601 for 6 months is demonstrated to be safe and effective in reducing restenosis in post-PCI patients.
