Objective This study aimed to understand the epidemic status and phylogenetic relationships of rotavirus group A(RVA)in the Pearl River Delta region of Guangdong Province,*** This study included individuals aged 28 days–85 years.A total of 706 stool samples from patients with acute gastroenteritis collected between January 2019 and January 2020 were analyzed for 17 causative pathogens,including RVA,using a Gastrointestinal Pathogen Panel,followed by genotyping,virus isolation,and complete sequencing to assess the genetic diversity of *** The overall RVA infection rate was 14.59%(103/706),with an irregular epidemiological *** proportion of co-infection with RVA and other pathogens was 39.81%(41/103).Acute gastroenteritis is highly prevalent in young children aged 0–1 year,and RVA is the key pathogen circulating in patients 6–10 months of age with diarrhea.G9P[8](58.25%,60/103)was found to be the predominant genotype in the RVA strains,and the 41 RVA-positive strains that were successfully sequenced belonged to three different RVA genotypes in the phylogenetic *** analysis showed that gene reassortment events,selection pressure,codon usage bias,gene polymorphism,and post-translational modifications(PTMs)occurred in the G9P[8]and G3P[8]*** This study provides molecular evidence of RVA prevalence in the Pearl River Delta region of China,further enriching the existing information on its genetics and evolutionary characteristics and suggesting the emergence of genetic *** the surveillance of genotypic changes and gene reassortment in RVA strains is essential for further research and a better understanding of strain variations for further vaccine development.

Physicochemical properties and potential health effects of nanoparticles from pulverized coal combustion

Nanoparticles are thought to induce more severe health impacts than larger particles. The nanoparticles from coal-fired boilers are classified into three size fractions with a 13-stage low pressure impactor. Their physicochemical properties are characterized by the high-resolution field emission scanning electron microscope and X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (XRF). The results show that coal-derived nanoparticles mainly consist of individual primary particles of 20―150 nm and their aggregates. Inor-ganic nanoparticles primarily contain ash-forming elements and their aggregates have a dense struc-ture. Organic nanoparticles are dominated by the element carbon and their aggregates have a loose structure. Nanoparticles from the same boiler have a similar composition and are primarily composed of sulfur, refractory elements and alkali/alkaline elements. Some transition and heavy metals are also detected. For different boilers, greater differences are observed in the production of the nanoparticles and their composition, possibly due to the use of low-NOx burners. Coal-derived nanoparticles have a small size, large specific surface area and complicated chemical composition, and thus are potentially more harmful to human health.

The first imported Middle East respiratory syndrome （MERS） case in China was identified in May 2015. We determined the kinetics of antibody （IgG and IgM） and neutralizing antibodies against MERS-coronavirus （MERS-CoV） in this case before discharge. Moreover, no seroconversion was found among 53 close contacts by anti-MERS IgG antibody enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA） of paired serum samples. These findings suggest that neither community nor nosocomial transmission of MERS-CoV occurred in China.

Objective The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) pandemic continues to present a major challenge to public health. Vaccine development requires an understanding of the kinetics of neutralizing antibody(NAb) responses to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2).Methods In total, 605 serum samples from 125 COVID-19 patients(from January 1 to March 14, 2020)varying in age, sex, severity of symptoms, and presence of underlying diseases were collected, and antibody titers were measured using a micro-neutralization assay with wild-type *** NAbs were detectable approximately 10 days post-onset(dpo) of symptoms and peaked at approximately 20 dpo. The NAb levels were slightly higher in young males and severe cases, while no significant difference was observed for the other classifications. In follow-up cases, the NAb titer had increased or stabilized in 18 cases, whereas it had decreased in 26 cases, and in one case NAbs were undetectable at the end of our observation. Although a decreasing trend in NAb titer was observed in many cases, the NAb level was generally still *** We demonstrated that NAb levels vary among all categories of COVID-19 patients. Longterm studies are needed to determine the longevity and protective efficiency of NAbs induced by SARS-CoV-2.

Observation of gapless corner modes of photonic crystal slabs in synthetic translation dimensions

Objective The pandemic of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-Co V-2) has been engendering enormous hazards to the world. We obtained the complete genome sequences of SARSCo V-2 from imported cases admitted to the Guangzhou Eighth People’s Hospital, which was appointed by the Guangdong provincial government to treat coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19). The SARS-Co V-2 diversity was analyzed, and the mutation characteristics, time, and regional trend of variant emergence were *** In total, 177 throat swab samples were obtained from COVID-19 patients(from October2020 to May 2021). High-throughput sequencing technology was used to detect the viral sequences of patients infected with SARS-Co V-2. Phylogenetic and molecular evolutionary analyses were used to evaluate the mutation characteristics and the time and regional trends of *** We observed that the imported cases mainly occurred after January 2021, peaking in May2021, with the highest proportion observed from cases originating from the United States. The main lineages were found in Europe, Africa, and North America, and B.1.1.7 and B.1.351 were the two major sublineages. Sublineage B.1.618 was the Asian lineage(Indian) found in this study, and B.1.1.228 was not included in the lineage list of the Pangolin web. A reasonably high homology was observed among all samples. The total frequency of mutations showed that the open reading frame 1 a(ORF1 a) protein had the highest mutation density at the nucleotide level, and the D614 G mutation in the spike protein was the commonest at the amino acid level. Most importantly, we identified some amino acid mutations in positions S, ORF7 b, and ORF9 b, and they have neither been reported on the Global Initiative of Sharing All Influenza Data nor published in Pub Med among all missense *** These results suggested the diversity of lineages and sublineages and the high homology at the amino acid level among imported case

Shear-thinning Catechol-modified Chitosan Hydrogel Loaded with Silver Nanoparticles for Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection

Shear-thinning hydrogels have emerged for endoscopic submucosal dissection,while wound intervention after surgery has rarely been ***,a catechol-modified chitosa n hydrogel with shear-thinning property was developed for simultaneously facilitating endoscopic submucosal dissection and postoperative wound *** from the shear-thinning and self-healing characteristics,the asprepared hydrogel showed easily endoscopic *** also performed very well as submucosal cushion,which could remain above 70%after injection for 120 min in ex vivo porcine large intestine *** fact,the cushion height of normal saline dramatically decreased to 46%of the initial height at 30 *** nanoparticles encapsulated into the network endowed the hydrogel with almost reached 100%antibacterial effect against *** and *** hemolysis ratio of the hydrogel was calculated to be as low as 0.8%.Combined with good hemocompatibility and cytocompatibility,the as-prepared hydrogel displayed much higher in vivo wound closu re and healing efficacy than normal *** results demonstrated the superiority of the shear-thinning chitosan hydrogel in facilitating clinical endoscopic submucosal dissection surgery.

Axial enantiomers with donor-regulated TADF feature for multicolor circularly polarized electroluminescence

This study optimized the TADF feature of axial chiral enantiomers through precise donor engineering,and multicolor CP-TADFwas achieved in the axial chiral *** pairs of axial enantiomers with donor-regulated TADF feature,namely(R/S)-TPCBD,(R/S)-DPCBD,and(R/S)-DPACBD,were synthesized by introducing carbazole donors with different substituents onto biphenyl cyanide *** the electron-donating ability of donors increases,the emission of these axial enantiomers ranges from 455,476 to 552 nm,their singlet-triplet energy gaps(ΔE_(ST))gradually decrease from 0.30,0.22 to 0.02 e V,accompanied by an increasement in the transition rate(k_(RISC))of RISC process,and the k_(RISC)of DPACBD could reach up to 7.16×10^(5)s^(-1).These axial enantiomers also exhibit mirror-image CD and circularly polarized luminescence(CPL)***,OLEDs based on TPCBD,DPCBD,and DPACBD as emitter were then fabricated,which displayed blue,green,and orange electroluminescence with EQE_(max)of 13.0%,16.4%,and 25.0%,*** results also exhibited a phenomenon of device efficiency increasing with the enhancement of donor ***,the CP-OLEDs using(R/S)-TPCBD,(R/S)-DPCBD and(R/S)-DPACBD as emitters displayed intense CPEL signals with g_(EL)values of 3.4×10^(-3)/-4.1×10^(-3),3.2×10^(-3)/-3.1×10^(-3)and2.3×10^(-3)/-2.1×10^(-3),*** convenient molecular engineering of donor regulation in the same molecular skeleton,CP-TADF materials with multicolor CPEL and improved device performance could be conveniently achieved.

Brucellosis is a bacterial anthropozoonosis usually caused by Brucella abortus, Brucella melitensis, Brucella suis and Brucella canis. Brucella suis, the causative agent of swine brucellosis, is classified into five biovars and preferentially infects different animal hostsIll. In China, brucellosis is a national notifiable communicable disease both in animals and in human. In 2009, 35 816 brucellosis cases were reported. The annual incidence was 2.7 per 100 000 population.
