Background Interferon （IFN） can inhibit human immunodeficiency virus type 1 （HIV-1） replication in vitro and in ***, IFN therapy for HIV infection was limited by its moderate antiviral efficacy and its frequent adverse effects. In the present study we evaluated the anti-HIV efficacy of a novel synthesized superior interferon α （slFNα）.Methods We performed in vitro experiments with HIV-1 IIB infected MT4 cells, and evaluated in vivo anti-HIV efficacy of slFNα in severe combined immunodeficient （SClD） mice reconstituted with human peripheral blood leukocytes （hu-PBL-SClD mice）.Results We found that the 50% effective concentrations （EC5o） of slFNα against the replication of HIV-1 in MT4 cells was 0.06 ng/ml, representing stronger antiviral activity than interferon-α in vitro. In the hu-PBL-SCID mice, a dose-dependent protection pattern was observed： with 0.45 μg and 1.35 μg slFNα daily treatments, parts of SCID mice were protected from HIV infection, whereas 2.25 μg sIFNα daily treatments resulted in a terminally complete *** slFNα shows good anti-HIV activity both in vitro and in SCID mice, may be a promising anti-HIV agent deserving clinical investigation, especially considering the potential of IFN-α to inhibit HIV replication in patients infected with drug-resistant variants or co-infected with hepatitis C virus （HCV）.

The change of HERS cell number and gene expression profile by occlusion during root development in rat molars

Occlusion is commenced by contact of a tooth with an opposing tooth and is the mechanical force working against the periodontal ligament (PDL). Our recent study indicated that occlusion regulated tooth root elongation occurs during root development in rat molars. Using a non-occlusal model established to directly examine the effects of the absence of occlusion in developing first molars of upper jaw, histological analysis was performed to count the number of HERS cells, with Microarray used to analyse gene expression profiles. HERS cell numbers in normal molars decreased significantly more than those in experimental molars. In microarray data, a total of 59 genes showed significant differences (fold change > 2.0). Expressions of 55 genes in the experimental molars, which included PLAP-1/asporin and periostin, were significantly decreased than those in normal molars. These data indicate that occlusion during root development leads to a decrease in the number of HERS cells, and that the aforementioned genes may play an essential role in normal root formation.

Enhanced Public Health Surveillance for the Sixth Worldwide Uchinanchu Festival Conducted by the Okinawa Prefectural Government, Japan

Objective: The Okinawa prefectural government conducted enhanced surveillance for the Sixth Worldwide Uchinanchu Festival, with participation of more than 5300 visitors from abroad, many of whom were Okinawan or of Okinawan descent, for early detection of Zika virus disease and other potential public health threat outbreaks. Method: Enhanced surveillance conducted from 12 October through 13 November involved four surveillance systems, (Nursery) School Absenteeism Surveillance system ((N)SASSy), Prescription Surveillance (PS), and Official Syndromic Surveillance (OSS), each of them operates routinely, in addition to case-based and sentinel surveillance under the Infectious Diseases Control Law as Official National Surveillance of Infectious Diseases (ONSID). This enhanced surveillance was conducted for analysis and evaluation, with intensive information sharing among concerned parties. Result: We performed the enhanced surveillance for 33 days from 12 October through 13 November. Information from enhanced surveillance was analyzed and evaluated, and eventually summarized as a daily report. There has been one rubella case at an elementary school in Okinawa City on 20 October and a measles case at an elementary school in Uruma City on 2 November. Those two cases were registered into (N)SASSy on a timely basis. The public health center investigated them quickly, and the measles case was denied later because symptoms did not satisfy with case definition. Discussion: We regard enhanced surveillance as useful to confirm events that might demand a public health response. Moreover, the related including public health centers or medical institutions confirmed the situation as valuable for the administrative structure. However, because almost all (nursery) schools or pharmacies are closed during successive holidays, outbreaks that occur on such days cannot be recognized on a timely basis. Lopharia is a cosmopolitan genus, and it plays an important role in degradation of reduction in the forest ecosystem. Morphologically, Lopharia s.s. is distinct from Dentocorticium, Dendrodontia and Fuscocerrena but are phylogenetically closely related as shown in phylogenetic studies. Eleven taxa of Lopharia s.s., Dendrodontia, Dentocorticium and Fuscocerrena in Polyporales are included in the phylogenetic analyses of nuc rDNA ITS1-5.8S-ITS2（ITS）, D1-D2 domains of nuc 28 S rDNA（28S） and RNA polymerase II second-largest subunit（rpb2） sequences. New species Lopharia resupinata and L. sinensis are described and *** resupinata, from southeastern China, is closely related to L. ayresii, and L. sinensis, from northern China, is related to L. cinerascens and L. mirabilis. Lopharia mirabilis specimens from temperate to tropical areas with varied hymenophore configurations all cluster together in a fully supported clade. Dendrodontia and Fuscocerrena are shown to be synonyms of Dentocorticium, which is phylogenetically related to Lopharia. Four new combinations, Dentocorticium bicolor, D. hyphopaxillosum, D. portoricense and D. taiwanianum, are proposed. Revised generic descriptions of Lopharia and Dentocorticium are provided with keys to the six accepted species in each genus. A list of all names in Lopharia and Dentocorticium are presented with their current taxonomic status. Type specimens of Dentocorticium brasiliense and D. irregular were examined and determined to be later synonyms of Punctularia subhepatica and Diplomitoporus daedaleiformis, respectively.

在山田河流域利用SWAT模型对循环灌溉稻田和畜牧生产系统的流域特征进行调查。在茨城县地区土地利用呈现典型的景观镶嵌式。谷地中的稻田循环灌溉系统沿河岸在低处修建,森林、菜地和畜禽舍则建在周围地势较高处。灌期与非灌期土壤径流特征存在明显差异,通过设定参数可以利用SWAT模型对径流进行预测。灌期效率系数(ENS)、系数测定(r2)和相对误差(RE)分别为0.86、0.87和2.0%,非灌期分别为0.67、0.68和2.6%。但是对于养分浓度,模型没法给出满意的预测。对菜田及牲畜废弃物养分的模拟应对SWAT进行修正,对稻田系统的模拟应对算法进行修订。

Upreguration of Ki-67 in human oral squamous cell carcinomas enhanced the cervical lymph node metastasis through the increased lymphangioplasty

Purpose: To investigated the relationship between the number of tumor cells expressing Ki-67 and the frequency of lymph node metastasis in 44 surgically treated patients with OSCCs. Methods- All participants provided informed consent to participate in this study. None of the patients showed evidence of lymph node metastasis at initial clinical evaluation. lmmunohistochemical study with anti-Ki-67 monoclonal antibodies was performed to quantitate the number of tumour cells expression Ki-67 in the formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded biopsy samples and the acquired images were analyzed using NIH image. Results: In 16 of 44 patients, secondary lymph node metastasis occurred. As compared with other Grade types of OSCCs, the frequency secondary lymph node metastasis was increased in Grade 4C and 4D type, in which the number of tumor cells expressing of Ki-67 was increased.
