Background: Cardiovascular (CV) diseases are the most frequent cause of death in hemodialysis (HD) patients. The aim of this study was to identify risk factors for CV events in HD patients with preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (PEF). Objectives: A total of 213 HD patients (69 years, 64.1% males) were enrolled. Demographic, laboratory test, and echocardiographic data were recorded, and CV events during the 32-month follow-up period were documented. Results: During the follow-up period, 31 patients (14.6%) died and 50 patients (23.5%) suffered a fatal or nonfatal CV event. Age and serum albumin, C-reactive protein, total cholesterol, non-HDL cholesterol, and NT-proBNP levels were associated with CV events according to a univariate analyses. Background: Arterial calcification is a predictive marker in patient on hemodialysis (HD), but the relationship between arterial calcification and calciprotein particles (CPPs) is unclear. Methods: We examined the effects of ferric citrate hydrate (JTT-751) on CPP level and evaluated changes in aortic arch calcification (AoAC) grade in patients on maintenance HD (MHD). In total, 70 MHD patients were enrolled in the study and followed for 24 months. We measured serum CPP levels and fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF 23) among propensity score-matched MHD patients. One group (n = 35) was treated with CaCO3 and the other (n = 35) was treated with ferric citrate hydrate (JTT-751). AoAC was assessed on chest-X rays. Eligible patients continued the same treatment. Results: All 70 patients completed the study. serum CPP levels reduced in the JTT-751 group, but were not significantly different in the CaCO3 group. Among patients whose baseline AoAC score (AoACs) was ≤ 4 (median), median AoACs increased from 0 (0 - 3) to 3 (2 - 4) (p 3 group, median AoACs increased from 2 (0 - 2) to 3 (0 - 4) (p Conclusion: These results indicate that the administration of JTT-751 decreased serum CPP levels but did not inhibit AoAC progression in patients on MHD.

AIM To investigate whether an uncovered self-expandable metal stent(UCsEMs) with a large diameter could prevent recurrent biliary obstruction(RBO).METHODs Thirty-eight patients with malignant biliary obstruction underwent treatment with an UCsEMs with a 14-mm diameter(Niti-s 14). Retrospectively, we evaluated technical and functional success rate, RBO rate, time to RBO, survival time, and adverse events in these *** stent placement success and functional success were achieved in all patients. Two patients(5.3%) had RBO due to tumor ingrowth or overgrowth. The median time to RBO was 190(range, 164-215) d. The median survival time was 120(range, 18-502) d. The 6-mo non-RBO rate was 91%. Other adverse events other than RBO occurred as follows: Acute cholecystitis, post-ERCP pancreatitis, hemobilia, and fever without exacerbation of liver injury, and liver abscess in 4(10.3%), 3(7.9%), 2(5.3%), 1(2.6%), and 1(2.6%), respectively. Migration of the stents was not *** Niti-s 14 is considered to be a preferable metal stent because of a low rate of RBO with no migration.

本文描述了发射波长约为1.55μm的InGaAsP/InP激光器的制造工艺和激射特性。采用低温液相外延方法制备的InP/InGaAsP/InP双异质结构外延片,制造了发射波长在1.53～1.60μm范围的锌扩散条形几何结构激光器。研究了激射特性与条宽的依赖关系。具有1.3μm条宽的激光器得到了最低的阈值电流(在27℃,CW工作条件下,约为160mA)。热沉温度高达53℃时获得了激光器的CW工作。在条宽足够窄(～6μm)的情况下,CW工作时得到了基横模和单纵模工作,而且激光器具有很好的高频性能。在高频(800Mbit/s)大信号脉冲调制情况下,激光器呈现出极好的动态特性。800Mbit/s时的纵模包络半最大点的全宽约为30(?)。

Background: The geriatric nutritional risk index (GNRI) has been developed as a tool to assess the nutritional risk. The triglyceride to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL-C) ratio has been shown to be a predictor of cardiovascular (CV) outcomes in the general population. Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine whether the combination of GNRI and TG/HDL-C ratio is a predictor of all-cause mortality and CV deaths in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients. Methods: We performed a retrospective, observational cohort study in which we enrolled 341 MHD patients from a single center in Japan who had been followed up for a mean of 48.0 ± 12.7 months. The outcomes were defined as the occurrence of all-cause mortality and CV deaths during the follow-up period. Baseline GNRI and TG/HDL-C ratios were investigated for associations with outcomes by using Cox proportion hazards models adjusted for demographic parameters. Results: Overall, 101 of the subjects had died, of whom 52 died due to CV events during the mean follow-up period of 48.0 ± 12.7 months. The patients were grouped into four categories according to a median GNRI Conclusion: The combination of GNRI and TG/HDL-C ratio is an easily accessible marker for predicting all-cause mortality and CV deaths in MHD patients.
