Biodegradable polymethacrylic acid grafted psyllium for controlled drug delivery systems

Polymethacrylic acid （PMA） was synthesized on the backbone of psyllium （Psy） by a microwave assisted method to prepare polymeric grafted materials designated as （Psy-g-PMA）. Various grades of Psy-g-PMA were prepared by changing the degree of grafting from 35%- 58% and the materials were then made into tablets. Swelling and biodegradability studies of the tablets were carried out. Acetyl salicylic acid was incorporated in the various Psy-g-PMA samples and tablets were prepared to study the in vitro drug release in acidic （pH = 4）, neutral （pH = 7）, and basic （pH = 9） media. In the acidic medium, the swelling was more than 1300%. In addition, the biodegradable Psy-g-PMA had the highest drug release in the acidic medium. This may be attributed to Fickian diffusion since the drug and the medium in which it was released have the same acidic nature.

Birth Preparedness and Complication Readiness in Uttar Pradesh, India

The objective of this study is to investigate the subject of birth preparedness and complication readiness to tackle the obstetric complications. Birth preparedness and complication readiness is studied based on husband’s response. Emergency birth preparedness has been promoted to address delays in seeking skilled care at birth. However, little evidence is available for birth preparedness and its key covariates. Therefore, to examine the level of birth preparedness, this study has used primary data collected from the selected district of Uttar Pradesh. The information in this study may be valuable to Indian health policy makers and programme implementers who wish to lower the prevailing high maternal mortality in the country. This paper is based on the primary data collected from 33 husbands of deceased women and 150 husbands of surviving mothers from one selected district of the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. Birth preparedness and complication readiness is measured using series of questions. The husbands were asked whether they followed the following key desired steps while their wife was pregnant with last child: 1) thinking about the measures to be taken in case of life danger;2) being aware about the delivery date of wife;3) saving money for meeting delivery expenses;4) discussing plans with close family members;5) keeping ready clean cotton and other necessities;6) identifying a hospital to go in case of emergency;7) arranging transportation and 8) arranging dai/doctor. Taking at least five steps were considered being well-prepared. Frequency distribution and cross tabulation analysis were done and logistic regression model was applied to understand independent effect of key covariates. Proportion test and t-test were also applied to check the statistical significance in two groups. It was found that different steps of birth preparedness were not planned in case of all pregnancies. Improved dielectric and electro-optical parameters of nematic liquid crystal doped with magnetic nanoparticles

This study investigates the effect of magnetic nanoparticles(NPs) on the weakly polar nematic liquid crystal(NLC).Different parameters of dielectric data were measured for both the homeotropic and planar aligned samples as a function of frequency and temperature and the substantial changes have been noticed for the doped systems. Dielectric permittivity has been increased after the dispersion of magnetic NPs in the pure NLC. Dielectric anisotropy has also been influenced by incorporating the magnetic NPs with the NLC molecules. These results were attributed to the dipole–dipole interaction between the magnetic nanoparticles and nematic liquid crystal molecules. Electro-optical study indicated the faster rise time and fall time of the doped systems as compare to pure NLC. Threshold voltage has been calculated and found to be decreased for the doped systems. Moreover, we have also calculated the rotational viscosity and the splay elastic constant for pure and the doped systems. Both the rotational viscosity and splay elastic constant of the doped systems are found to be considerably lower than those of pure NLC. Change in these properties has been explained on the basis of molecular disturbances created by the interaction between the magnetic nanoparticle and LC director. This study reveals that the inclusion of magnetic NPs in weakly polar NLC can be useful to enhance the basic properties of the weakly polar NLC and make it a promising material for many display applications.

Improvements in Weather Forecasting Technique Using Cognitive Internet of Things

Forecasting the weather is a challenging task for human beings because of the unpredictable nature of the ***,effective forecasting is vital for the general growth of a country due to the significance of weather forecasting in science and *** primary motivation behind this work is to achieve a higher level of forecasting accuracy to avoid any ***,most weather forecasting work is based on initially observed numerical weather data that cannot fully cover the changing essence of the *** this work,sensors are used to collect real-time data for a particular location to capture the varying nature of the *** solution can give the anticipated results with the least amount of human engagement by combining human intelligence and machine learning with the help of the cognitive Internet of *** Authors identified weatherrelated parameters such as temperature,humidity,wind speed,and rainfall and then applied cognitive data collection methods to train and validate their *** addition,the Authors have examined the efficacy of various machine learning algorithms by using them on both data sets i.e.,pre-recorded metrological data sets and live sensor data sets collected from multiple *** Authors noticed that the results were superior on the sensor *** Authors developed ensemble learning model using stacked method that achieved 99.25%accuracy,99%recall,99%precision,and 99%F1-score for Sensor *** also achieved 85%accuracy,86%recall,85%precision,and 86%F1 score for Australian rainfall data.
