Objectives: This study aimed to understand the experience and impact of a physical activity and sleep wrist-worn tracker (Fitbit)-based healthy lifestyle intervention for older patients attending a memory assessment service, who are experiencing cognitive impairment but do not receive a dementia diagnosis. Methods: A qualitative design was employed. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with a purposeful sample of thirteen participants recruited from a memory assessment service. Thematic analysis, that was data driven and inductive, was undertaken to analyse the data. Results: Two global themes were developed. “Understanding exercise and sleep as part of my lifestyle” was made up of themes representing how participants viewed exercise and sleep as part of their lifestyles in terms of acknowledging the positive impacts and the barriers to exercise and sleep. The second global theme “Understanding my experience of the healthy lifestyle intervention” was made up of themes that identified the positive impact of the intervention regarding improving health and wellbeing, enabling validation of proactive behaviours and motivation to engage in healthy lifestyle behaviours, so promoting positive behaviour change. Conclusion: Patients experiencing age-related cognitive impairment, applied and benefited from a healthy lifestyle Fitbit-based intervention to facilitate and promote physical activity, better sleep hygiene and healthy lifestyles.

This work explores the potential of a triple combination of meropenem(MEM),a novel metallo-blactamase(MBL)inhibitor(indole-2-carboxylate 58(InC58)),and a serine-b-lactamase(SBL)inhibitor(avibactam(AVI))for broad-spectrum activity against carbapenemase-producing bacteria.A diverse panel comprising MBL-and SBL-producing strains was used for susceptibility testing of the triple combination using the agar dilution *** frequency of resistance(FoR)to MEM combined with InC58 was *** were sequenced and tested for cross resistance,fitness,and the stability of the resistance *** with the double combinations of MEM plus an SBL or MBL inhibitor,the triple combination extended the spectrum of activity to most of the isolates bearing SBLs(oxacillinase-48(OXA-48)and Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase-2(KPC-2))and MBLs(New Delhi metallo-blactamases(NDMs)),although it was not effective against Verona integron-encoded metallo-blactamase(VIM)-carrying Pseudomonas aeruginosa(***)and OXA-23-carrying Acinetobacter baumannii(***).The FoR to MEM plus InC58 ranged from 2.22×10^(-7)to 1.13×10^(-6).The resistance correlated with mutations to ompC and comR,affecting porin C and copper permeability,*** mutants manifested a fitness cost,a decreased level of resistance during passage without antibiotic pressure,and cross resistance to another carbapenem(imipenem)and a b-lactamase inhibitor(taniborbactam).In conclusion,compared with the dual combinations,the triple combination of MEM with InC58 and AVI showed a much wider spectrum of activity against different carbapenemaseproducing bacteria,revealing a new strategy to combat b-lactamase-mediated antimicrobial resistance.

Heat events may be humid or *** several indices incorporate humidity,such combined indices obscure identification and exploration of heat events by their different humidity *** new *** global gridded monitoring product uniquely provides a range of wet and dry bulb temperature extremes *** of this new data product demonstrates its value as a tool for quantifying exposure to humid verses dry heat *** also enables exploration into“stealth heat events”,where humidity is high,perhaps enough to affect productivity and health,while temperature remains *** events may not typically be identified as“heat events”by temperature-focused heat *** 1973-2022,the peak magnitude of humid extremes(maximum daily wet bulb temperature over a month;T_(w)X)for the global annual mean increased significantly at 0.13±0.04℃(10 yr)^(−1),which is slightly slower than the global annual mean T_(w) increase of 0.22±0.04℃(10 yr)^(−1).The frequency of moderate humid extreme events per year(90th per-centile daily maxima wet bulb temperature exceedance;T_(w)X90p)also increased significantly at 4.61±1.07 d yr^(−1)(10 yr)^(−1).These rates were slower than for temperature extremes,TX and TX90p,which respectively increased significantly at 0.27±0.04℃(10 yr)^(−1) and 5.53±0.72 d yr^(−1)(10 yr)^(−1).Similarly,for the UK/Europe focus region,JJA-mean T_(w)X increased significantly,again at a slower rate than for TX and mean T_(w).*** shows some evidence of“stealth heat events”occurring where humidity is high but temperature remains more moderate.

Fetal growth restriction(FGR)describes a fetus that has not grown to its expected biological potential in *** can result from maternal,fetal,or placental complications,though it is commonly caused by placental *** prolonged hypoxic environment the FGR fetus is exposed to has detrimental effects on the newborn,which extends to adverse long-term neurological outcomes in a significant proportion of FGR infants(Malhotra et al.,2019).Unfortunately,there are currently no therapies to reduce the adverse neurological outcomes in *** injury is evident in the FGR brain,and therefore understanding which neurons are lost and how they are lost will aid in the selection of treatment options for FGR.

Matter organic non-glycerol(MONG)is a considerable waste output(20%−25%of crude glyc-erol)typically landfilled by soy biodiesel *** this work,soy MONG was characterized for potential use as a copolymer to produce filaments for 3D printing with an intent to add value and redirect it from *** a copolymer,MONG was evaluated to reduce the synthetic polymer content of the natural fiber composites(NFC).Even though the general thermal behavior of the MONG was compared to that of a thermoplastic polymer in composite applications,it is depen-dent on the composition of the MONG,which is a variable depending on plant discharge *** order to improve the thermal stability of MONG,we evaluated two pretreatments(acid and acid+peroxide).The acid+peroxide pretreatment resulted in a stabilized paste with decreased soap content,increased crystallinity,low molecular weight small chain fatty acids,and a sta-ble blend as a copolymer with a thermoplastic *** treatment increased formic acid(17.53%)in MONG,along with hydrogen peroxide,led to epoxidation exhibited by the increased concentration of oxirane(5.6%)evaluating treated MONG as a copolymer in polymer processing and 3D printing.

Acid extraction methods have been used in the last half century to selectively extract the CO_(2)produced from different carbonate minerals in mixed ***,these methods are often time-consuming and labor *** application to clumped isotope(Δ47)analysis has not been *** propose here an acid extraction method with phosphoric acid for bulk stable and clumped isotope analysis that treats mixtures of calcite and dolomite the same regardless of the proportional ***_(2)evolved from calcite is extracted by allowing a reaction with phosphoric acid to proceed for 10 min at 50℃.We then extract CO_(2)evolved from dolomite by rapid ramping the acid temperature from 50 to 90℃and allowing the reaction to *** experimental results show that our method yields accurate calcite and dolomiteΔ_(47)values from mixed samples under different proportional *** method also displays equal or higher accuracy for calciteδ^(13)C and dolomiteδ^(13)C andδ^(18)O values from mixtures when compared to previous *** approach exhibits higher sample throughput than previous methods,is adequate for clumped isotopic analysis and simplifies the reaction progression from over 24 h to less than 2 h,while maintaining relatively high isotopic obtaining *** yet poorly resolves calciteδ18O values,as found with previous methods.
