Securing Data in Multimode Fibers by Exploiting Mode-Dependent Light Propagation Effects

Self-compassion means being kind to oneself when facing difficulties(Neff, 2003). Although there are several versions of self-compassion scale translated by different chinese researchers, many lack psychometric integrity, which hinders the research of self-compassion in chinese culture. This study aims to test psychometric properties of a chinese version of self-compassion scale(ScS-c) as well as the short form in chinese undergraduates via four studies. Study 1 is an online questionnaire study recruiting 465 chinese University students(141 males;324 females. M age = 20.26;SD age = 2.18) to test the factor structure using Exploratory Factor Analysis, the convergent validity using correlation analysis and internal reliability via reliability test. Results showed that: firstly, ScS-c did not show a clear factor structure as previous research(Neff, 2003);secondly, ScS-c has good convergent validity. Specifically, the ScS-c was significantly negatively associated with Personal Standard Subscale, r(465) =-.212, p cial connectedness Scale, r(465) =.558, p cales of the trait-Meta Scale, Attention, r(465) =.327, p clarity, r(465) =.464, p cale’s reliability is great, however, the subscales suffered from low level of internal reliability, especially for self-judgement. Study 2 is a paper-and-pen questionnaire recruiting participants from a north china university to explore the factor structure, discriminant validity and test-retest reliability. 392undergraduate students(71 males;317 females. M age = 18.97;SD age =.975) were recruited at Time 1 and 187 students(38 males;149 females. M age = 18.88;SD age =.982) were given a second administration of the ScS-c after 2 weeks(Time 2). Fabry Disease (FD) is a rare lysosomal storage disorder characterized by α-galactosidase A (α-Gal A) enzyme deficiency, resulting in glycosphingolipid accumulation. Its clinical spectrum ranges from severe classical to milder nonclassical or late-onset phenotypes. Renal involvement, termed Fabry Nephropathy (FN), can vary from mild proteinuria to kidney failure. FN diagnosis, especially in nonclassical cases with a genetic Variant of Unknown Significance (VUS) in the GLA gene, poses challenges. Measurement of plasma lyso-Gb3 levels is gaining importance in FN diagnosis, while renal biopsy with electron microscopy remains the gold standard in equivocal cases. Treatment options include Enzyme Replacement Therapy (ERT) and chaperone therapy, demanding careful candidate selection due to high treatment costs. Research has predominantly focused on classical FD, revealing modest treatment benefits. However, evidence for treating patients, especially females, with milder nonclassical or late-onset phenotypes is scarce, emphasizing the necessity for placebo-controlled clinical trials in these subgroups. Meanwhile, participation in global FD registries can improve our understanding of disease management. case Presentation: A woman in her late sixties presented with moderate chronic kidney disease, mild proteinuria, and microscopic hematuria. Her family history included a prevalence of renal, cardiac and cerebrovascular diseases. Kidney biopsy revealed characteristic myelin figures and zebra bodies in podocytes, strongly suggestive of FN. Genetic analysis identified a VUS in the GLA gene (c.655A > c, ***219Leu), introducing diagnostic uncertainty. Further investigations revealed severe cardiac involvement. considering the recurring difficulty presented by the finding of a VUS in the GLA gene during FN assessments, along with the uncertainty regarding the need for treatment in nonclassical or late-onset FD phenotypes, especially in women, this case becomes a central focus for

Aims Understanding the patterns and drivers of carbon isotope discrimination(13Δ)in c_(3)and c_(4)functional groups is critical for predicting c_(3)/c_(4)vegetation ratio from the isotopic composition of soil organic *** this study,we aimed to evaluate how intraspecific variation will modify functional group-level 13Δvalues and the associated prediction of c_(3)/c_(4)vegetation *** We investigated 13Δof 726 individual plants(96 species;c_(3)and c_(4)functional groups)and topsoil organic matter in 26 grassland communities along an aridity gradient in northern *** fraction of c_(4)contribution was calculated with mixing models that considered:(i)both intra-and interspecific effects on the 13Δvalues of c_(3)and c_(4)functional groups;(ii)only interspecific effects;or(iii)none of these *** Findings We found divergent responses of plant 13Δat the intraspecific level to the changes of aridity across the *** 13Δof both c_(3)and c_(4)functional groups was negatively correlated with an aridity index,with higher sensitivity for c_(3)than for c_(4)functional *** 13Δvariation played a key role in driving the total 13Δvariations of c_(3)*** such intraspecific effect in mixing models led to a greatly increased fraction of c_(4)contribution to soil organic carbon.A correction for the effects of intraspecific variation is therefore essential for correctly inferring c_(3)/c_(4)vegetation ratio in the *** findings provide basic information for the reconstruction of past vegetation change from bulk materials in arid and semiarid biomes.
