Background: Hip arthroplasty is a surgery with a high risk of bleeding. The main objective of this study was to research risk factors for bleeding and transfusion in patients undergoing hip hemiarthroplasty in Gabon. Method: It was a retrospective, monocentric, descriptive and analytical study carried out from June 2011 to June 2021 at the Omar Bongo Ondimba army training hospital. The variables studied were demographic characteristics, biological variables, transfusion and intraoperative data. The primary outcome was intraoperative transfusion. A univariate and multivariate analysis was conducted to identify the factors associated with the occurrence of a transfusion. Results: Of the 97 patients included, the average age was 74.2 years ± 10, male predominance was 73.2%, the average ASA score was 1.9 ± 0.5, and transfusion incidence was 38.1%. The average number of RBCs transfused was 1.2 ± 0.6. Tranexamic acid was used in 11.3% of patients. The average bleeding was 450 ± 453 ml. Preoperative anemia was predictor of transfusion to be significant. Conclusion: The incidence of transfusion is law compared to total hip arthroplasty. The implementation of a patient blood management protocol is difficult given the urgency of bone repair. However, a better use of tranexamic acid could reduce this transfusion incidence.

BACKGROUND As a consequence of the economic crisis,the sociopolitical instability and the advent of the coronavirus disease-19 pandemic,nested challenges faced the lebanese healthcare *** have resulted in critical shortages of essential resources,including medications vital for oncologic *** To assess the ramifications of the ongoing economic crisis on oncology patient care focusing on our outpatient oncology *** A questionnaire was distributed during the month of February 2022 to oncology patients in Hôtel Dieu de France University Hospital in Beirut during their outpatient *** primary objective was to assess the far-reaching impact of the economic crisis on patient care and the resulting psychological *** Among 182 interviewed patients,31.87%experienced treatment interruption mainly due to acute drug *** 87.91%of the patients benefiting from third-party coverage,69.60%had to self-pay for their medications leading to 69.78%of patients perceiving that healthcare was more difficult to access after ***,one-third of the patients exhibited symptoms of anxiety and/or depression,with 7 patients reporting suicidal ***,37.93%of patients who interrupted cancer treatment reported a history of comorbidities,and 89.66%who altered their treatment cited financial *** lebanese cancer patients face complex challenges spanning economic,healthcare,and psychological *** inequalities exacerbated by the economic crisis hindered healthcare access.

Purpose:Our study aims to compare speech understanding in noise and spectral-temporal resolution skills with regard to the degree of hearing loss,age,hearing aid use experience and gender of hearing aid ***:Our study included sixty-eight hearing aid users aged between 40-70 years,with bilateral mild and moderate symmetrical sensorineural hearing *** gap detection test,Turkish matrix test and spectral-temporally modulated ripple test were implemented on the participants with bilateral hearing *** test results acquired were compared statistically according to different variables and the correlations were ***:No statistically significant differences were observed for speech-in-noise recognition,spectraltemporal resolution among older and younger adults in hearing aid users(p>0.05).There wasn’t found a statistically significant difference among test outcomes as regards different hearing loss degrees(p>0.05).Higher performances were obtained in terms of temporal resolution in male participants and participants with more hearing aid use experience(plations were obtained between the results of speech-in-noise recognition,temporal resolution and spectral resolution tests performed with hearing aids(plusion:Our study findings emphasized the importance of regular hearing aid use and it showed that some auditory skills can be improved with hearing *** of correlations among the speechin-noise recognition,temporal resolution and spectral resolution tests have revealed that these skills should be evaluated as a whole to maximize the patient’s communication abilities.

Plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO)coatings were carried out in silicate-based electrolyte embedded with various amounts of carbon nanotube(CNT)additives(0,0.5,1,2 and 4 g/l)on AZ80 magnesium alloy ***,tribological and electrochemical corrosion properties of the coated specimens were *** results demonstrated that the increasing CNT additions into the electrolyte resulted in a gradual increase in the thickness of PEO-coating *** CNT addition to the electrolyte by 0.5 g/l resulted in a slight decrease in the roughness of PEO-coating above which it continually *** resistance of the PEO-coated specimens showed a gradual improvement with increasing CNT-incorporation within the *** electrochemical corrosion tests revealed that the best corrosion resistance was found after the CNT addition into the electrolyte by 0.5 g/l due to the better roughness values,more homogenous coating layers and less pore formation.

Background This study aimed to compare the efficacy of intravenous,intranasal fentanyl and oral sucrose in reducing the pain response during retinopathy of prematurity examinations using premature infant pain profile(PIPP)*** The study included 42 infants who underwent retinopathy screening *** infants were divided into three groups:oral sucrose,intranasal fentanyl,and intravenous *** signs(heart rate,arterial oxygen saturation,and mean arterial pressure)were *** PIPP was used to determine pain *** oxygenation and middle cerebral artery blood flow were evaluated using near-infrared spectroscopy and Doppler ultrasonography,*** data obtained were compared between *** There was no significant difference between the three groups regarding postconceptional and postnatal ages or birth weights and weight at the time of *** babies had moderate pain during the *** correlation was observed between analgesia method and pain scores(P=0.159).In all three groups,heart rate and mean arterial pressure increased,whereas oxygen saturation decreased during the exam compared with pre-examination ***,heart rate(HR),mean arterial pressure(MAP)and arterial oxygen saturation(sPO2)values did not differ between groups(HR,P=0.150;MAP,P=0.245;sPO2,P=0.140).The cerebral oxygenation(rSO2)values between the three groups were found to be similar[rSO2:P=0.545,P=0.247,P=0.803;fractional tissue oxygen extraction(FTOE):P=0.553,P=0.278].Regarding cerebral blood flow values,we also did not find any difference between the three groups[mean blood flow velocity(Vmean):P=0.569,P=0.975;maximum flow velocity(Vmax):P=0.820,P=0.997].Conclusions Intravenous and intranasal fentanyl and oral sucrose were not superior to each other in preventing pain during the examination for retinopathy of prematurity(ROP).Sucrose may be a good alternative for pain control during ROP *** findings suggest
