Multi-Objective Optimization of Fused Deposition Modeling for Mechanical Properties of Biopolymer Parts Using the Grey-Taguchi Method

The urgent need to develop customized functional products only possible by 3D printing had realized when faced with the unavailability of medical devices like surgical instruments during the coronavirus-19 disease and the ondemand necessity to perform surgery during space *** have recently been the most appropriate option for fabricating surgical instruments via 3D printing in terms of cheaper and faster *** all 3D printing techniques,fused deposition modelling(FDM)is a low-cost and more rapid printing *** article proposes the fabrication of surgical instruments,namely,forceps and hemostat using the fused deposition modeling(FDM)*** mechanical properties are the only indicator to judge the quality of the functional *** mechanical properties of FDM-processed parts depend on various process *** parameters are layer height,infill pattern,top/bottom pattern,number of top/bottom layers,infill density,flow,number of shells,printing temperature,build plate temperature,printing speed,and fan *** strength and modulus of elasticity are chosen as evaluation indexes to ascertain the mechanical properties of polylactic acid(PLA)parts printed by *** experiments have performed through Taguchi’s L27orthogonal array(OA).Variance analysis(ANOVA)ascertains the significance of the process parameters and their percent contributions to the evaluation ***,as a multiobjective optimization technique,grey relational analysis(GRA)obtains an optimal set of FDM process parameters to fabricate the best parts with comprehensive mechanical *** electron microscopy(SEM)examines the types of defects and strong bonding between *** proposed research ensures the successful fabrication of functional surgical tools with substantial ultimate tensile strength(42.6 MPa)and modulus of elasticity(3274 MPa).

In the present article,we have used the three-phase-lag model of thermoelasticity to formulate a two dimensional problem of non homogeneous,isotropic,double porous media with a gravitational field *** shock of constant intensity is applied on the bounding *** normal mode procedure is employed to derive the exact expressions of the field *** expressions are also calculated numerically and plotted graphically to demonstrate and compare theoretical *** influences of non-homogeneity parameter,double porosity and gravity on the various physical quantities are also ana-lyzed.A comparative study is done between three-phase-lag and GN-III *** limiting cases are also deduced from the current study.

The present article is concerned with the propagation of plane waves in a homogeneous,fiber-reinforced orthotropic thermoelastic ro-tating half-space in the context of three-phase-lag *** exist three coupled waves,namely,quasi-longitudinal P-wave(qP),quasi-longitudinal thermal wave(qT)and quasi-transverse wave(qSV)in the *** reflection coefficients are computed numerically with the help of MATLAB programming and are depicted graphically to show the effects of rotation,fiber-reinforcement and phase lag *** expressions of energy ratios have also been obtained in explicit form and are shown graphically as functions of angle of *** has been verified that during reflection phenomena,the sum of energy ratios is equal to unity at each angle of *** of anisotropy is depicted on velocities of various reflected *** particular cases of interest have also been inferred from the present investigation.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs)or drones introduced for military applications are gaining popularity in several other fields as well such as security and surveillance,due to their ability to perform repetitive and tedious tasks in hazardous *** increased demand created the requirement for enabling the UAVs to traverse independently through the Three Dimensional(3D)flight environment consisting of various obstacles which have been efficiently addressed by metaheuristics in past ***,not a single optimization algorithms can solve all kind of optimization problem ***,there is dire need to integrate metaheuristic for general *** address this issue,in this paper,a novel reinforcement learning controlled Grey Wolf Optimisation-Archimedes Optimisation Algorithm(QGA)has been exhaustively introduced and exhaustively validated firstly on 22 benchmark functions and then,utilized to obtain the optimum flyable path without collision for UAVs in three dimensional *** performance of the developed QGA has been compared against the various *** simulation experimental results reveal that the QGA algorithm acquire a feasible and effective flyable path more efficiently in complicated environment.

Hydrological Modelling of Small Gauged and Ungauged Mountainous Watersheds Using SWAT—A Case of Western Ghats in India

Mountainous forested watersheds are important hydrologic systems that are responsible for much of the water supply and run-of-the-river hy-dropower schemes in many parts of the world. In India, the Western Ghats are one of such important hydrologic systems located in southern peninsular region. Several of these watersheds are ungauged. The Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) has been used to model streamflows for two mountainous forested watersheds, namely, Gurupur (699 km2) (a gauged watershed) and Upper Payaswini (44.6 km2) (an ungauged wa-tershed). Model calibration and validation are performed using monthly and daily streamflow data for the gauged watershed. Sample flow values obtained over a limited period were used for validation of ungauged wa-tershed. Flow duration curves (FDCs) have been derived to assess per-centile flow distributions. Model performance is evaluated using Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient (ENS), percent bias (PBIAS), coefficient of de-termination (R2) and comparison of percentile flow values obtained from observed and simulated FDCs. Sensitivity analysis with Latin Hypercube One-factor-At-a-Time (LH-OAT) indicates five soil-land use related pa-rameters namely, soil available water capacity (SOL_AWC), soil evapora-tion compensation factor (ESCO), soil depth (SOL_Z) and layers, groundwater baseflow (ALPHA_BF), and curve number (CN2 (forest & agriculture)), to be sensitive for simulating both gauged and ungauged wet mountainous forested watersheds. Study shows that lateral flows from dynamic sub-surface zones in such watersheds contribute substan-tially to the total water yield.

On dry machining of AZ31B magnesium alloy using textured cutting tool inserts

Magnesium alloys have many advantages as lightweight materials for engineering applications,especially in the fields of automotive and *** undergo extensive cutting or machining while making products out of *** cutting,a sustainable machining method,causes more friction and adhesion at the tool-chip *** of the promising solutions to this problem is cutting tool surface texturing,which can reduce tool wear and friction in dry cutting and improve machining *** paper aims to investigate the impact of dimple textures(made on the flank face of cutting inserts)on tool wear and chip morphology in the dry machining of AZ31B magnesium *** results show that the cutting speed was the most significant factor affecting tool flank wear,followed by feed rate and cutting *** tool wear mechanism was examined using scanning electron microscope(SEM)images and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS)analysis reports,which showed that at low cutting speed,the main wear mechanism was abrasion,while at high speed,it was *** chips are discontinuous at low cutting speeds,while continuous at high cutting *** dimple textured flank face cutting tools facilitate the dry machining of AZ31B magnesium alloy and contribute to ecological benefits.

Arthroscopic Capsular Release for Frozen Shoulder—Time to Thaw the Delay?

Introduction: Frozen shoulder is a common condition that affects the working population. Current management regimes are variable nationwide and the evidence base on which to base these decisions is poor. The longevity and severity of symptoms often result in great economic burden, both to health services and in terms of absence from work. Early surgical intervention with arthroscopic capsular release may result in improved symptoms and earlier return to both work and leisure activities. Aims: The aim of our prospective cohort study was to investigate whether early intervention with arthroscopic capsular release resulted in improvement of symptoms and whether this would in turn provide overall economic benefit to society. Methods: Patients diagnosed with frozen shoulder at an elective orthopaedic specialist shoulder clinic were recruited prospectively. Data were gathered by way of questionnaire to ascertain the demographic information of the patient as well as their previous treatment in the primary care setting and absence from work. Initial Oxford Shoulder Score (OSS) was also calculated: Arthroscopic capsular release was then performed and further data gathered at four-week post-operative follow-up. Economic impact of delay to treatment and cost of intervention were calculated using government data from the national tariff which cost different forms of treatment. Statistical analysis was then performed on the results. Results: Twenty five patients were recruited. Mean results were: Age of patients: 53.5 years, duration of symptoms prior to intervention: 35.2 weeks, days absent from work: 31.5, number of previous physiotherapy sessions: 7.2, number of steroid injections: 1.3. Mean pre-operative OSS was 37.4 (range 27 - 58, SD 7.4). Mean post-operative OSS was 15.9 (range 12 - 22, SD 2.3), P 0.01. Mean improvement in OSS was 21.5 (range 12 - 38, SD 7.1).
