Enhancement and Removal of PM_(2.5)by Cold and Warm Air Masses Accompanying Certain Synoptic Weather Systems across Hangzhou,China during 2014-2020

Local air pollution is strongly affected by synoptic weather systems,such as fronts,troughs,low-altitude vortices,or high-altitude ***,few studies have analyzed the meteorological properties of cold or warm air masses associated to these systems and their impact on local air *** this study,hourly observations of fine particulate matter(diameter of up to 2.5µm,i.e.,PM_(2.5)),wind(V),temperature(T),pressure(P),and precipitation(R),acquired in Hangzhou in 2014-2020,were *** this analysis,weather patterns were categorized into 27 types;89 and 94 cases illustrating the passage of warm and cold air masses over Hangzhou were identified,respectively;the influence of air mass temperature,wind speed,and wind direction on PM_(2.5) concentrations and local accumulation or removal was *** main results are as follows.(1)Pollution events occurred more frequently for cold than for warm air masses,but average pollutant concentration was lower for cold air masses;(2)48%of the cold air mass cases corresponded to PM_(2.5) decreases and 52%to PM_(2.5) increases,with strong cold air masses(ΔT_(24h)>4°C;∣V∣_(average)>4 m s^(−1))markedly reducing local pollution,but weak cold air masses(ΔT24h4°C)reduced the PM_(2.5) concentration whereas weaker winds(∣V∣_(average)<2 m s^(−1))increased it;and(4)PM_(2.5) concentration decreased sharply within 4 h after the passage of strong cold air masses,but more gradually within 14 h after the passage of strong warm air *** results considerably improve the current understanding of the influence of cold and warm air masses on local pollution patterns.

Adaptive Algorithms on Maximizing Monotone Nonsubmodular Functions

Submodular optimization is widely used in large *** order to speed up the problems solving,it is essential to design low-adaptive algorithms to achieve acceleration in *** general,the function values are given by a value oracle,but in practice,the oracle queries may consume a lot of ***,how to strike a balance between optimizing them is *** this paper,we focus on maximizing a normalized and strictly monotone set function with the diminishing-return ratio under a cardinality constraint,and propose two algorithms to deal with *** apply the adaptive sequencing technique to devise the first algorithm,whose approximation ratio is arbitrarily close to 1-e^(-γ)in O(logn·log(log(k\γ))adaptive rounds,and requires O(logn^(2)·log(log(k\γ))*** by adding preprocessing and parameter estimation steps to the first algorithm,we get the second *** second algorithm trades a small sacrifice in adaptive complexity for a significant improvement in query *** the same approximation and adaptive complexity,the query complexity is improved *** the best of our knowledge,this is the first paper of designing adaptive algorithms for maximizing a monotone function using the diminishing-return ratio.

A personalized electronic textile for ultrasensitive pressure sensing enabled by biocompatible MXene/ PEDOT:PSS composite

Flexible,breathable,and highly sensitive pressure sensors have increasingly become a focal point of interest due to their pivotal role in healthcare monitoring,advanced electronic skin applications,and disease ***,traditional methods,involving elastomer film-based substrates or encapsulation techniques,often fall short due to mechanical mismatches,discomfort,lack of breathability,and limitations in sensing ***,there is a pressing need,yet it remains a significant challenge to create pressure sensors that are not only highly breathable,flexible,and comfortable but also sensitive,durable,and ***,we present a biocompatible and breathable fabric-based pressure sensor,using nonwoven fabrics as both the sensing electrode(coated with MXene/poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrene sulfonate[PEDOT:PSS])and the interdigitated electrode(printed with MXene pattern)via a scalable spray-coating and screen-coating *** resultant device exhibits commendable air permeability,biocompatibility,and pressure sensing performance,including a remarkable sensitivity(754.5 kPa^(−1)),rapid response/recovery time(180/110 ms),and robust cycling ***,the integration of PEDOT:PSS plays a crucial role in protecting the MXene nanosheets from oxidation,significantly enhancing the device's long-term *** outstanding features make this sensor highly suitable for applications in fullrange human activities detection and disease *** study underscores the promising future of flexible pressure sensors in the realm of intelligent wearable electronics,setting a new benchmark for the industry.

Digital assets have boomed over the past few years with the emergence of Non-fungible Tokens(NFTs).To be specific,the total trading volume of digital assets reached an astounding$55.5 billion in ***,numerous security concerns have been raised by the rapid expansion of the NFT *** holders are exposed to a plethora of scams and traps,putting their digital assets at risk of being ***,academic research on NFT security is scarce,and the security issues have aroused rare *** this study,the NFT ecological process is comprehensively *** process falls into five different stages encompassing the entire lifecycle of ***,the security issues regarding the respective stage are elaborated and analyzed in depth.A matrix model is proposed as a novel contribution to the categorization of NFT security *** data are collected from social networks,the Ethereum blockchain,and NFT markets to substantiate our claims regarding the severity of security concerns in the NFT *** this comprehensive dataset,nine key NFT security issues are identified from the matrix model and then subjected to qualitative and quantitative *** study aims to shed light on the severity of NFT ecosystem security *** findings stress the need for increased attention and proactive measures to safeguard the NFT ecosystem.

Constructing high-toughness polyimide binder with robust polarity and ion-conductive mechanisms ensuring long-term operational stability of silicon-based anodes

Silicon-based materials have demonstrated remarkable potential in high-energy-density batteries owing to their high theoretical ***,the significant volume expansion of silicon seriously hinders its utilization as a lithium-ion ***,a functionalized high-toughness polyimide(PDMI) is synthesized by copolymerizing the 4,4'-Oxydiphthalic anhydride(ODPA) with 4,4'-oxydianiline(ODA),2,3-diaminobenzoic acid(DABA),and 1,3-bis(3-aminopropyl)-tetramethyl disiloxane(DMS).The combination of rigid benzene rings and flexible oxygen groups(-O-) in the PDMI molecular chain via a rigidness/softness coupling mechanism contributes to high *** plentiful polar carboxyl(-COOH) groups establish robust bonding *** ionic transport is achieved by incorporating the flexible siloxane segment(Si-O-Si),which imparts high molecular chain motility and augments free volume holes to facilitate lithium-ion transport(9.8 × 10^(-10) cm^(2) s^(-1) vs.16 × 10^(-10) cm^(2) s~(-1)).As expected,the SiO_x@PDMI-1.5 electrode delivers brilliant long-term cycle performance with a remarkable capacity retention of 85% over 500 cycles at 1.3 A g^(-1).The well-designed functionalized polyimide also significantly enhances the electrochemical properties of Si nanoparticles ***,the assembled SiO_x@PDMI-1.5/NCM811 full cell delivers a high retention of 80% after 100 *** perspective of the binder design strategy based on polyimide modification delivers a novel path toward high-capacity electrodes for high-energy-density batteries.

Mahjong,a complex game with hidden information and sparse rewards,poses significant *** Mahjong AIs require substantial hardware resources and extensive datasets to enhance AI *** authors propose a transformer‐based Mahjong AI(Tjong)via hierarchical decision‐*** utilising self‐attention mechanisms,Tjong effectively captures tile patterns and game dynamics,and it decouples the decision pro-cess into two distinct stages:action decision and tile *** design reduces de-cision complexity ***,a fan backward technique is proposed to address the sparse rewards by allocating reversed rewards for actions based on winning *** consists of 15M parameters and is trained using approximately 0.5 M data over 7 days of supervised learning on a single server with 2 *** action decision achieved an accuracy of 94.63%,while the claim decision attained 98.55%and the discard decision reached 81.51%.In a tournament format,Tjong outperformed AIs(CNN,MLP,RNN,ResNet,VIT),achieving scores up to 230%higher than its ***-more,after 3 days of reinforcement learning training,it ranked within the top 1%on the leaderboard on the Botzone platform.

Unusual photocarrier and coherent phonon dynamics behaviors of layered PdSe_(2)unveiled by ultrafast spectroscopy of the edge surface

Layered materials exhibit different electronic and phonon properties along in-plane and out-of-plane directions;existing studies focus on their in-plane behaviors,and the influence of such anisotropies on the dynamics of photocarriers and phonons is ***,we fabricate layered PdSe_(2)crystals with flat edge surfaces and compare the time-resolved ultrafast spectroscopies on their basal and edge *** differences in the transient reflection spectroscopies reveal the inconsistent photocarrier and phonon dynamics behaviors on the two surfaces:the slow hot carrier relaxation process is accelerated and the thermoelasticity-induced longitudinal coherent acoustic phonon oscillation completely vanishes on the edge surface,as compared with the basal *** analysis reveals that the inconsistent hot carrier dynamics originate from the anisotropic properties of low-energy phonons in PdSe_(2),and the absence of phonon oscillation on the edge surface results from the wavevector-limited sensitivity of acoustic B_(1u)***,polarization-dependent spectroscopies indicate the diverse optical anisotropies beyond the in-plane of PdSe_(2).This work provides a new method to explore unique physical properties and modulate the optical anisotropy of layered materials.

Gut microbial interactions based on network construction and bacterial pairwise cultivation

Association networks are widely applied for the prediction of bacterial interactions in studies of human gut ***,the experimental validation of the predicted interactions is challenging due to the complexity of gut microbiomes and the limited number of cultivated *** this study,we addressed this challenge by integrating in vitro time series network(TSN)associations and cocultivation of TSN taxon *** samples were collected and used for cultivation and enrichment of gut microbiome on YCFA agar plates for 13 *** cells were harvested for DNA extraction and metagenomic sequencing.A total of 198 metagenome-assembled genomes(MAGs)were *** dynamics of bacteria growing on the YCFA agar were used to infer microbial association *** experimentally validate the interactions of taxon pairs in networks,we selected 24 and 19 bacterial strains from this study and from the previously established human gut microbial biobank,respectively,for pairwise *** co-culture experiments revealed that most of the interactions between taxa in networks were identified as neutralism(51.67%),followed by commensalism(21.67%),amensalism(18.33%),competition(5%)and exploitation(3.33%).Genome-centric analysis further revealed that the commensal gut bacteria(helpers and beneficiaries)might interact with each other via the exchanges of amino acids with high biosynthetic costs,short-chain fatty acids,and/or *** also validated 12 beneficiaries by adding 16 additives into the basic YCFA medium and found that the growth of 66.7%of these strains was significantly *** approach provides new insights into the gut microbiome complexity and microbial interactions in association *** work highlights that the positive relationships in gut microbial communities tend to be overestimated,and that amino acids,short-chain fatty acids,and vitamins are contributed to the positive relationships.

Sensitive measurement of silver ions in environmental water samples integrating magnetic ion-imprinted solid phase extraction and carbon dot fluorescent sensor

Increasing use of silver in various fields has caused Ag^(+)pollution in water environment,taking great threats to people’s *** a consequence,establishing rapid and reliable methods for sensitive determination of Ag^(+)is of great ***(FL)sensors based on carbon dots(CDs),an excellent carbonaceous nanomaterial with strong and stable fluorescence,have absorbed extensive attentions in analysis of pollutants due to its advantages of carbon sources being readily available,low cost,easy operation and fast ***,ion-imprinting is a better way to increase the selectivity of the proposed *** work described an effective method for the sensitive measurement of silver ion in water samples in combination with magnetic ion-imprinted solid phase extraction and CDs based fluorescent sensor,which took full advantages of easy separation and high enrichment of magnetic solid phase extraction,high selectivity of ion-imprinting technology,and sensitivity and rapid response of fluorescent sensor from ***-doped CDs derived from dithizone and magnetic ion-imprinted nanomaterial were prepared,and characterized with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and transmission electron microscope,*** Ag^(+)imprinted nanomaterial based solid phase extraction was employed for separating and enriching Ag^(+)from water *** significant parameters were optimized in *** the optimal conditions,the proposed method provided good linearity in the range of 0.01-0.4μmol/L and low detection limit of 3 nmol/*** reliability of the proposed method was validated with real water samples,and the results demonstrated that the proposed method was simple,robust,selective and sensitive detection tool for Ag^(+)in real water samples.
