Characterization of the black cumin (Nigella sativa L.) honey from Turkiye

This case report study investigated the botanical, physicochemical, and phenolic compositions, as well as the antioxidant and antimicrobial properties of varying amounts of black cumin honey (Nigella sativa) from Burdur region of Turkiye. The samples had an average moisture value of 17.23% and a Nigella sativa pollen ratio ranging from 19% to 51%. Electrical conductivity (EC) values ranged from 0.36 to 0.54 mS/cm. The average color values of Hunter (L, a, b) were 43.55 (L*), 32.77 (a*), and 64.52 (b*), respectively. The proline contents were ranged from 875 to 1624 mg/kg. The average F/G ratio and F+G value were 1.43 +/- 0.11 and 68.75 +/- 4.75, respectively. The average of total phenolic (TP) and total flavonoid (TF) contents were 36.87 +/- 7.00 mg GAE/100 g and 5.63 +/- 1.45 mg QUE/100 g, respectively. The antioxidant capacities of the samples were tested using the ferric reducing/antioxidant power (FRAP) and 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assays, with mean values of 179.40 +/- 25.35 mu mol FeSO4 center dot 7H(2)O/100 g and 46.07 +/- 12.87 mg/mL, respectively. The phenolic composition of the samples were tested using the HPLC-PDA method with 25 phenolic standards. Gallic acid, p-OH benzoic acid, t-cinnamic acid, p-coumaric acid, chrysin, and pinocembrin were determined as common components. The samples exhibited high antimicrobial activities against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Chromobacterium violaceum, Bacillus cereus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Acinetobacter haemolyticus, but did not affect Candida albicans, Candida parapilopsis, or Mycobacterium smegmatis.

Increased expression of YAP1 in prostate cancer correlates with extraprostatic extension

Objective:Yes associated protein 1(YAP1)is a member of the Hippo pathway,acting as a transcriptional *** elucidate the role of YAP1 and phosphorylated(p)YAP1 in prostate cancer(PCa)tumorigenesis,we investigated their expression in clinical samples of PCa and cell ***:Fifty-four tumor,adjacent nontumor,and prostate intraepithelial neoplasia(PIN)tissues from patients with PCa after radical prostatectomy were selected from a retrospective cohort and studied using immunohistochemistry(IHC).Protein and m RNA expression levels of YAP1 were evaluated by Western blot analysis and quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR,respectively,in cancer cell *** available gene expression datasets were downloaded to analyze YAP1 m RNA and protein levels in PCa tissue ***:IHC analysis of PCa tissues revealed that YAP1 staining intensities were moderate to weak in the nucleus and cytoplasm of tumor cells,whereas adjacent normal epithelia showed strong *** observed that benign prostates were characterized by higher expression levels of both nuclear(P=0.004)and cytosolic(P=0.005)YAP1.p YAP1 staining was weak in the cytoplasm and absent in the nucleus of all the tissues ***1 expression was an indicator of extraprostatic extension(EPE).The level of YAP1 was negatively correlated with the level of the androgen receptor(AR)in The Cancer Genome Atlas dataset and Western blot analysis of cell ***:Our study suggested that YAP1 expression is heterogeneous in PCa tissue samples;therefore,YAP1 might play different roles in different aspects of PCa *** might involve AR–YAP1 interplay in PCa.

Using UAVs for detection of trees from digital surface models

A difficult problem in forestry is tree *** this study, a GoProHero attached to a small unmanned aerial vehicle was used to capture images of a small area covered by pinus pinea trees. Then, a digital surface model was generated with image matching. The elevation model representing the terrain surface, a ‘digital terrain model’,was extracted from the digital surface model using morphological filtering. Individual trees were extracted by analyzing elevation flow on the digital elevation model because the elevation reached the highest value on the tree peaks compared to the neighborhood elevation pixels. The quality of the results was assessed by comparison with reference data for correctness of the estimated number of trees. The tree heights were calculated and evaluated with ground truth dataset. The results showed 80% correctness and 90% completeness.

Numerical investigation of seismic performance of high modulus columns under earthquake loading

This paper presents the result of two-dimensional fi nite element modeling studies in order to investigate the seismic behavior of high modulus columns in liquefi able soil. Particular attention was paid to the shear stress reduction mechanism of the high modulus columns and the shear strain distribution between soil and columns during earthquake motion. Numerical analyses were performed using a nonlinear elasto-plastic model in Plaxis 2016. The reliability of the numerical simulations was verifi ed through the results of a centrifuge test model designed to investigate the contribution of high modulus columns in liquefaction mitigation. The capability of numerical simulations was assessed primarily through comparison of predicted acceleration-time histories, pore water pressures, and displacements with the measured counterparts. The results of the numerical analysis showed that the presence of the columns did not reduce seismic shear stresses in the soil when compared to the unimproved soil condition and pure shear behavior between soil and column did not develop as expected in the current design methodology.

Analyses of energy use and greenhouse gas emissions(GHG)in watermelon production

The aim of this research is to conduct an energy use efficiency and greenhouse gas(GHG)emission analysis in watermelon production that took place in Kırklareli Province of Turkey during the 2021 production *** research contains calculations of Energy use efficiency,specific energy,energy productivity and net energy,energy input types,GHG emissions and GHG ***,observation and data calculations are related to the 2021 production *** data used in the research were collected from 30 different(accessible)farms through face-to-face surveys with full count *** and EO were calculated as 15698.99 MJ/hm^(2)and 104784.91 MJ/hm^(2),*** relation to production inputs,24.29%of the energy inputs consisted of chemical fertilizers energy(3813.34 MJ/hm^(2)),20.04%consisted of transportation energy(3146.19 MJ/hm^(2)),10.63%consisted of diesel fuel energy(1668.52 MJ/hm^(2)),7.44%consisted of human labour energy(1168.09 MJ/hm^(2)),6.50%consisted of plant energy(1021.02 MJ/hm^(2)),5.76%consisted of electricity energy(904.50 MJ/hm^(2)),5.18%consisted of machinery energy(813.44 MJ/hm^(2)),3.36%consisted of irrigation water energy(527.63 MJ/hm^(2)),2.85%consisted of organic fertilizer energy(446.72 MJ/hm^(2)),2.40%consisted of farmyard manure energy(376.62 MJ/hm^(2))and 0.67%consisted of chemicals energy(105.67 MJ/hm^(2)).Energy use efficiency,specific energy,energy productivity and net energy were calculated as 6.67,0.28 MJ/kg,3.51 kg/MJ and 89085.91 MJ/hm^(2),*** utilized total energy input in production was grouped as 27.19%direct energy,72.81%indirect energy,22.55%renewable energy and 77.45%*** GHG emissions and GHG ratio were determined as 492.82 kg CO_(2)-eq/hm^(2),0.01 kg CO_(2)-eq/kg,respectively.

Measurement of L X-Ray Intensity Ratios for^92U and ^90Th Elements Using Photoionization in an External Magnetic Field

L x-ray intensity ratios Le/Lγ, Lα/L7 and Lβ/Lγ for ^92U and ^90Th are measured by using 59.5keV incident photon energy at 110° and 125° scattering angles. The samples are located in the external magnetic field of intensities ±0.15T, ±0.30T, ±0.45T, ±0.60T and ±0.75T. The experimental results obtained for B = 0 are compared with the theoretical values calculated using Scofield＇s tables based on the Hartree Slater theory. The contribution to the alignment of the external magnetic field is discussed. It is observed that the L x-ray intensity ratios decrease with the increasing magnetic field intensity.

AIM： To assess the incidence of MLH1 （the human MutL homologue） and MSH2 （the human MutS homologue） protein expression in Turkish patients with sporadic colorectal cancers and to compare their survival and clinicopathological features. METHODS： We validated the tissue microarray technology in 77 colorectal carcinomas by analyzing the immunohistochemical expression of proteins involved in two main pathways of colorectal carcinogenesis： p53 protein for loss of heterozygosity tumors; MLH1 and MSH2 proteins for microsatellite instability （MSI）. RESULTS： Our analysis showed that 29 （39.2%） had loss of MLH1 expression, 5 （6.8%） had loss of MSH2 expression and 2 cases had loss of expression of both proteins. We found that 60% of MSH2-negative tumors were located in the right side of the colon; all MSH2-negative cases were women. In addition, the loss of MSH2 expression was correlated with low p53 expression. Neither MLH1 nor MSH2 expressions were associated with prognosis, although there seemed a tendency of longer survival （71.7 ± 8.65 mo vs 47.08± 5.26 too） for the patients with MLHl-negative versus MLHl-positive carcinomas. There were not significant differences in overall and recurrence-free survival among MLH1/MSH2-positive and -negative cases.CONCLUSION： Our data supports that Turkish patients with MLH1- and MSH2-defective tumors have some distinct features from each other. Although prognostic importance remains controversial, immunohistochemical analysis of mismatch repair genes may be used as a routine histopathological examination of sporadic colorectal carcinomas.

Cognitive work analysis to comprehend operations and organizations in the mining industry

Complex industrial systems, including mining, have a prominent challenge in understanding the interrelationship among the cognitive processes, working environment and available equipment. The concept of cognitive work analysis(CWA) transcends the traditional analytic methods of evaluating human tasks solely based on perceptual and physical traits, and rather implements the notions of behavioral and cognitive awareness indispensable for the intricacy of modern technology. In the last few decades, academic and industrial settings employ this type of analysis to set a suitable standard for a system's safety feasibility, and as a result reduce human-based errors. This research paper analyzes current CWA methods and proposes a five-level quantification model portraying the overall cognitive quality of a mining operation.

Microstructure,mechanical properties,and corrosion resistance of an explosively welded Mg-Al composite

In this study,an attempt was made to manufacture an AZ31–Al5005 laminated composite by explosive welding.A mixture of ammonium nitrate(90%),fuel oil(5%),and TNT(5%)was used as the *** detonation velocity of the explosive material was approximately 3100 m•s^(−1).The microstructure and mechanical and corrosion properties of the joint were comparatively *** characterisation of the joint was conducted by optical microscopy(OM),scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive spectroscopy(SEM-EDS),high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HR-TEM),and X-ray diffraction(XRD).The mechanical properties were determined using micro-Vickers hardness,tensile,and Charpy impact *** addition,electrochemical tests were conducted on the AZ31–Al5005 laminated composite and the individual components to determine their corrosion *** corrosion behaviours of the structures were determined in a 3.5%NaCl solution at room temperature using potentiodynamic scanning(PDS).The metallurgical structure and mechanical properties of the joints were within the acceptable limits.
