The ventricular assist device(VAD)assists the patients with heart diseases for limited and prolonged *** device synchronizes with normal heart activities to help foster its ***,its sensitive design requires high *** pumps are the essential part of every VAD which should operate in wide ranges of flow and *** there are various types of VAD under different designs,it is neither practical nor plausible to experimentally/clinically investigate their ***,in the concurrent study,a numerical study was carried out on four different generation prototypes of VAD pumps for reaching an optimum *** computational fluid dynamics(CFD)method,the software derived,showed and streamlined the flow field shear stress both inside the VAD and its ***,the vortices and flow rate-pressure curves were *** results showed that the curved blade pumps operate better compared to that of the straight blade types,concerning the provision of enough pressure and less damage to the red blood *** results have implications not only for comparing different types of VAD designs but also for understanding the resulted shear stresses and pressures as a result of the blade’s structure.

This study investigates the impact of institutional quality on Foreign Direct Investment(FDI)inflows using panel data for low,lower-middle,upper-middle and high-income countries for the sample period of 1996-2016 using the system Generalized Method of Moments(GMM).The empirical results confirm that institutional quality has a positive impact on FDI in all group of *** magnitude of the coefficients of control of corruption,government effectiveness,political stability,regulatory quality,rule of law,and voice and accountability for FDI inflows are greater in developed countries than in developing *** conclude that institutional quality is a more important determinant of FDI in developed countries than in developed ***,GDP per capita,agriculture value-added as a percentage of GDP,and inflation influence FDI inflows negatively in developed countries,while GDP per capita,trade openness,agriculture value-added as a percentage of GDP,and infrastructure have positive and statistically significant impacts on FDI inflows in developing *** openness as a percentage of GDP and infrastructure positively affect FDI in developed *** our analysis,we infer that institutional quality is a more important determinant of FDI in developed countries than in developing countries.

Evapotranspiration is one of the most important elements of the hydrological *** of evapotranspiration is imperative for effective forest,irrigation,rangeland and water resources management as well as to increase yields and for better crop *** study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land(SEBAL)in estimating evapotranspiration and crop coefficient of corn in the Mediterranean region of Adana province,*** Landsat 8 satellite images from March to September 2018 were used to acquire the coefficients of the respective ***,the net radiation flux on the earth’s surface and the earth’s heat flux is obtained using incoming-outgoing radiation fluxes from albedo,surface emissivity coefficients,land surface temperature,and plant ***,the sensible heat flux is calculated by determining the hot and cold pixels under consideration via the atmospheric stability ***,evapotranspiration maps are *** crop coefficient of corn is also estimated with the respected maps being *** validate the outcomes from the SEBAL algorithm,experimental methods were employed to calculate the evapotranspiration values and evaluated using suitable performance *** results showed that the SEBAL generated evapotranspiration values are in high agreement with the FAO Penman-Monteith method registering the highest correlation(R=0.91)and the lowest error(RMSE=1.14).In addition,the SEBAL method registered the highest correlation values of 0.89,0.87 and 0.68 with Turk,Makkink and Hargreaves experimental methods,***,the crop coefficients estimated using SEBAL also manifested an acceptable correlation with all *** highest correlation value registered was with the FAO Penman-Monteith method(R=0.98).The outcomes show that since the performance of the SEBAL algorithm in estimating the actual evapotranspiration and crop coefficient using Landsat 8 satellite images

AIM To investigate the behavior of pulsatile pressure zones(PPZ's) as noted on high resolution esophageal impedance manometry(HREIM), and determine their association with *** Retrospective, single center case control design scr-eening HREIM studies for cases(dysphagia) and controls(no dysphagia). Thoracic radiology studies were reviewed further in cases for(thoracic cardiovascular) thoracic cardiovascular(TCV) structures in esophageal proximity to compare with HREIM findings. Manometric data was collected for number, location, axial length, PPZ pressure and esophageal clearance function(impedance). RESULTS Among 317 screened patients, 56% cases and 64% controls had PPZ's. Fifty cases had an available thoracic radiology comparison. The distribution of PPZ's in these 50 cases and 59 controls was similar(average 1.4 PPZ/patient). Controls(mean 31.2 ± SD 12 years) were a significantly younger population than cases(mean 67.3 ± SD 14.9 years) with P 20%. CONCLUSION Transmitted TCV pulsations observed in HREIM bear no significant impact on swallowing. However, in older adults with dysphagia, evidence of impaired bolus clearance on impedance should be evaluated for external TCV compression. These associations have never been explored previously in literature, and are novel.

This study focuses on the deformation characteristics of Kadui-2 Landslide by the influence of reservoir filling-drawdown and precipitation.A three-year monitoring project was implemented in order to observe the short/long-term *** slide mass experienced consistent deformation with a maximum cumulative displacement of 331.34 *** on the recorded data of reservoir water level and precipitation during this period,a two-dimensional(2-D)finite element model using Geostudio software was set up for deformation simulation under different conditions to understand the real influence of these triggering factors on *** numerical simulation results are in consistent with monitoring field *** numerical simulation and field monitoring results exhibit that the maximum deformation occurred at the foreside of slumping *** slip surface shows significant creep characteristics decreasing as long-term shear strength reducing *** water level fluctuation is the primary triggering factor to reactivate the landslide mass and has a negative correlation with deformation *** rate increases with the reservoir drawdown and decreases with impoundment *** with reservoir filling-drawdown operation,rainfall has no significant effect on the slide motion of landslide due to limited penetration from the ground surface.

Estimation of conservation value of myrtle(Myrtus communis)using a contingent valuation method:a case study in a Dooreh forest area,Lorestan Province,Iran

Background： Around 2000 plant species occur naturally in Lorestan Province of which 250 species are medicinal and myrtle is one of them. Myrtle is a shrub whose leaves and fruits have medicinal value and thus, if managed and harvested properly, could produce sustained economic benefits. In recent years, however, over half of the myrtle site areas was destroyed, due to inappropriate management and excessive harvesting practices. Thus, coming up with a practical harvesting approach along with identifying those factors damaging the sites, seems to be very crucial. Methods： In our investigation, we calculated the conservation value per hectare of myrtle in the Dooreh forest area in Lorestan Province. Using the Contingent Valuation （CV） and Double Bounded Dichotomous Choice （DBDC） methods, we determined the willingness to pay （VVTP） for myrtle conservation. The VVTP was estimated with a Iogit model for which indices were obtained based on a maximum precision criterion. Results： The results showed that 86.67 per cent of people were willing to pay for the conservation of these myrtle sites. Average monthly WTP per family was calculated as $0.79. The annual conservation value in terms of WTP for the preservation of the myrtle sites in Dooreh was estimated as $102,525. Among the variables of the model presented, education had a positive impact, while the amount proposed for payment and family size had a negative impact on the WTP. Conclusions： Our estimate of the value of myrtle conservation should provide justification for policy makers and decision making bodies of natural resources to implement policies in order to conserve the natural sites of this species more effectively.

The antiphospholipid syndrome(APS)is a multi-systemic disease being characterized by the presence of antiphospholipid antibodies that involves both arterial and venous systems resulting in arterial or venous thrombosis,fetal loss,thrombocytopenia,leg ulcers,livedo reticularis,chorea,and *** document a previously unreported case of a 37-year-old female in whom APS was first manifested by infarction and cecal perforation following cesarean *** laparotomy the underlying cause of colonic perforation was not clear and after resection of the affected bowel an ileo-colostomy was *** diagnosis of APS was established during post-operative hospital stay and the patient was commenced on ***,she made a full recovery and had her stoma reversed after 4 *** poses an increased risk of complications in women with APS and requires a more aggressive approach to the obstetric *** should include full anticoagulation in the puerperium and frequent doppler ultrasound monitoring of uterine and umbilical arteries to detect complications such as preeclampsia and placental insufficiency.
