Estimation of conservation value of myrtle(Myrtus communis)using a contingent valuation method:a case study in a Dooreh forest area,Lorestan Province,Iran

Background： Around 2000 plant species occur naturally in Lorestan Province of which 250 species are medicinal and myrtle is one of them. Myrtle is a shrub whose leaves and fruits have medicinal value and thus, if managed and harvested properly, could produce sustained economic benefits. In recent years, however, over half of the myrtle site areas was destroyed, due to inappropriate management and excessive harvesting practices. Thus, coming up with a practical harvesting approach along with identifying those factors damaging the sites, seems to be very crucial. Methods： In our investigation, we calculated the conservation value per hectare of myrtle in the Dooreh forest area in Lorestan Province. Using the Contingent Valuation （CV） and Double Bounded Dichotomous Choice （DBDC） methods, we determined the willingness to pay （VVTP） for myrtle conservation. The VVTP was estimated with a Iogit model for which indices were obtained based on a maximum precision criterion. Results： The results showed that 86.67 per cent of people were willing to pay for the conservation of these myrtle sites. Average monthly WTP per family was calculated as $0.79. The annual conservation value in terms of WTP for the preservation of the myrtle sites in Dooreh was estimated as $102,525. Among the variables of the model presented, education had a positive impact, while the amount proposed for payment and family size had a negative impact on the WTP. Conclusions： Our estimate of the value of myrtle conservation should provide justification for policy makers and decision making bodies of natural resources to implement policies in order to conserve the natural sites of this species more effectively.

Obesity and the metabolic syndrome are becoming increasingly prevalent not only in adults,but also in *** metabolic syndrome,a complex cluster of metabolic abnormalities,increases one’s risk of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease(CVD).Dyslipidemia,a key component of the metabolic syndrome,is highly associated with insulin resistance and contributes to increased CVD *** has traditionally been assessed using a fasting lipid profile [*** triglycerides,total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)].However,the postprandial state predominates over the course of a day and non-fasting triglycerides independently predict CVD *** insulin resistant states,the intestine overproduces triglyceride-rich lipoprotein(TRL) particles,termed chylomicrons(CMs),following ingestion of a fat-containing meal,as well as in the fasting *** with elevated hepatic TRLs(***-low density lipoproteins),CMs contribute to remnant lipoprotein accumulation,small dense LDL particles,and reduced HDL-C,which collectively increase CVD *** the early genesis of atherosclerosis and physiological metabolic changes during adolescence,studying postprandial dyslipidemia in the adolescent population is an important area of *** dyslipidemia in the pediatric population poses a significant public health concern,warranting a better understanding of its pathogenesis and association with insulin resistance and *** review discusses the metabolic syndrome,focusing on the link between insulin resistance,postprandial dyslipidemia,and CVD ***,the clinical significance and functional assessment of postprandial dyslipidemia,specifically in the adolescent population,is discussed in more detail.

Discovering new therapeutic interventions to treat lipid and lipoprotein disorders is of great interest and the discovery of autophagy as a regulator of lipid metabolism has opened up new avenues for targeting modulators of this pathway. Autophagy is a degradative process that targets cellular components to the lysosome and recent studies have indicated a role for autophagy in regulating hepatic lipid metabolism(known as lipophagy) as well as lipoprotein assembly. Autophagy directly targets apolipoprotein B-100(apoB100), the structural protein component of very lowdensity lipoproteins(VLDLs), and further targets lipid droplets(LDs), the cellular storage for neutral *** thus plays a complex and dual role in VLDL particle assembly by regulating apoB 100 degradation as well as aiding the maturation of VLDL particles by hydrolyzing lipid from LDs. The purpose of this article is to review our current understanding of molecular and cellular mechanisms mediating authophagic control of hepatic lipid biogenesis and VLDL production as well as dysregulation in insulin resistance and dyslipidemia.

AIM： To characterize the clinical, serologic and virologic features of hepatitis B virus （HBV） infection in Iranian patients with different stages of liver disease.METHODS： Sixty two patients comprising of 12 inactive carriers, 30 chronic hepatitis patients, 13 patients with liver cirrhosis and 7 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） were enrolled in the study. The HBV S, C and basal core promoter （BCP） regions were amplified and sequenced, and the clinical, serologic, phylogenetic and virologic characteristics were investigated.RESULTS： The study group consisted of 16 HBeAgpositive and 46 HBeAg-negative patients. Anti-HBepositive patients were older and had higher levels of ALT, ASL and bilirubin compared to HBeAg-positive patients. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that all patients were infected with genotype D （mostly ayw2）. The G1896A precore （PC） mutant was detected in 58.1% patients. HBeAg-negative patients showed a higher rate of PC mutant compared to HBeAg-positive patients （2,2 = 9.682, P = 0.003）. The majority of patients with HCC were HBeAg-negative and were infected with PC mutant variants. There was no significant difference in the occurrence of BCP mutation between the two groups, while the rate of BCP plus PC mutants was higher in HBeAg-negative patients （2,2 = 4.308, P = 0.04）. In the HBV S region, the genetic variability was low, and the marked substitution was P120T/S, with a rate of 9.7% （n = 6）.CONCLUSION： In conclusion, HBV/D is the predominant genotype in Iran, and the nucleotide variability in the BCP and PC regions may play a role in HBV disease outcome in HBeAg-negative patients.

The intense mobilization of the soil inappropriately causes a reduction in the percentage of macropores and in the rate of soil water infiltration with reduction of crop yield. Due to the difficulty of using the Muntz concentric ring method, researchers have used mathematical models to estimate infiltration based on soil physical parameters such as, soil texture that does not reflect physical reality in relation to infiltration rate, leading to errors. To automate the use of the infiltrometer ring method, there are no hydrometers that record small flows in non-pressurized hydraulic systems, making it difficult to automate the method for field determination. For this purpose, six Muntz double rings were instrumented with an electromechanical system coupled to the “Tipin Buked” (weighbridge) with the ability to record flows from 8 cm3∙minute−1 on a memory card. The results indicate that the models of the regression equations describe 93% to 99% of the real values, showing the accuracy of the equipment. This work aimed to modify the Muntz method to reduce field work and automate the determination of water infiltration rate in the soil.

The Rio Grande do Sul-RS State, even with average annual rainfall of 1.721 mm, has shown a lack of water in the soil for crop production. The study aimed to determine the variation of annual and seasonal precipitation over the time;determine the year seasons that can provide the recharge of water into the soil profile and estimate the time needed to fulfill the soil pore space with water from effective rainfall with different scenarios of water infiltration. The soil uses were: oxisol;Red Yellow Podzolic and Planosolo Hydromorphic Eutrophic respectively in the North, Centre and South of RS State. We determined the total variation of annual rainfall, mean annual potential evapotranspiration and the time required to refill the soil profile for three infiltration scenarios: with fractions 1/2, 2/3 and 3/4 of effective rainfall. In the regions of Passo Fundo, Santa Maria and Santa Vitóriado Palmar, from 1914 to 2004 there was no reduction in the annual volume of rainfall. Considering that 50% of soil volume and water storage are met and that the fraction 1/2, 2/3 and 3/4 of the effective rainfall infiltrates into the soil, the recharging time profile varies from 3.7 to 16.6 years, infiltrating 2/3 range from 1.8 to 6.6 years and infiltrating 3/4 of effective precipitation range from 1.2 to 5.1 years, the time required to refill the entire soil porous space. The recovery of water storage in the soil profile must occur mainly during winter, followed by spring and fall.

目的探讨血清学指标联合超声心动图参数对房间隔缺损(ASD)合并肺动脉高压(PAH)的预测价值及临床意义。方法选取为2021年1月至2023年1月在新疆医科大学第一附属医院经彩色多普勒超声心动图检查确诊为房间隔缺损患者293例,根据ASD患者是否合并PAH分为不伴PAH组(n=176例)和伴PAH组(n=117例)。分析两组患者一般临床资料、血清学指标、超声心动图参数,采用二元logistic回归分析得到ASD合并PAH的独立危险因素,采用受试者特征工作曲线(ROC曲线)下面积评估血清学指标和超声心动图参数单独及联合检测对ASD合并PAH的预测价值。结果与不伴PAH组相比较,伴PAH组患者体重指数(BMI)、红细胞压积(HCT)、红细胞分布宽度、N末端脑钠肽前体(NT-proBNP)、尿酸、尿酸/肌酐比值、白蛋白、缺损直径、左心房内径、右心室流出道内径、右心房内径、右心室内径、三尖瓣反流压差、肺动脉收缩压水平差异具有统计学意义(均P<0.05)。多因素二元logistic回归分析结果显示,HCT、红细胞分布宽度、尿酸/肌酐比值、三尖瓣反流压差均是ASD合并PAH的独立危险因素。ROC曲线显示,HCT、红细胞分布宽度、尿酸/肌酐比值、三尖瓣反流压差单独检测及其联合检测的ROC曲线下面积分别为0.604、0.584、0.592、0.633和0.715。结论HCT、红细胞分布宽度、尿酸/肌酐比值和三尖瓣反流压差单独及其联合检测对ASD合并PAH预测均具有一定的价值,且联合检测的预测效果最好。
