This article describes a novel approach for deciding optimal horizontal extent of soil domain to be used for finite element based numerical dynamic soil structure interaction(SSI)*** model for a 12 storied building frame,supported on pile foundation-soil system,is developed in the finite element based software framework,*** different structure-foundation configurations are analyzed under different ground motion *** extent of soil domain,along with the soil properties,were varied exhaustively for a particular structural *** on the reduction in the variation of acceleration response at different locations in the SSI system(quantified by normalized root mean square error,NRMSE),the optimum lateral extent of the soil domain is prescribed for various structural widths,soil types and peak ground acceleration levels of ground *** to the past studies,error estimation analysis shows that the relationships prescribed in the present study are credible and more inclusive of the various factors that influence *** relationships can be readily applied for deciding upon the lateral extent of the soil domain for conducting precise SSI analysis with reduced computational time.

The disruptive effects of the COVID-19 pandemic has rapidly shifted how individuals navigate in *** are concerned that travel behavior will shift toward a car-driven and homeworking future,shifting demand away from public transport *** concerns place the recovery of public transport in a possible crisis.A resilience perspective may aid the discussion around recovery-particularly one that deviates from pre-pandemic *** paper presents an empirical study of London’s public transport demand and introduces a perspective of spatial resilience to the existing body of research on post-pandemic public transport *** study defines spatial resilience as the rate of recovery in public transport demand within census boundaries over a period after lockdown restrictions were *** relationship between spatial resilience and urban socioeconomic factors was investigated by a global spatial regression model and a localized perspective through Geographically Weighted Regression(GWR)*** this case study of London,the analysis focuses on the period after the first COVID-19 lockdown restrictions were lifted(June 2020)and before the new restrictions in mid-September *** analysis shows that outer London generally recovered faster than inner *** of income,car ownership and density of public transport infrastructure were found to have the greatest influence on spatial patterns in ***,influential relationships vary locally,inviting future research to examine the drivers of this spatial ***,this research recommends transport policymakers capture the influences of homeworking,ensure funding for a minimum level of service,and advocate for a polycentric recovery post-pandemic.

Friction and wear characteristics correlating the fiber reinforcement percentage of carbon–carbon (C/C) composites solely developed from petroleum pitch matrices were investigated. This study exhibits the tribo-characteristics of C/C composites developed in a single-step carbonization process for varying loads for the first time without a reimpregnation process. A pin-on-disc tribometer with a sliding speed of 0.5 m/s and loads of 5, 10, and 20 N with a flat tool grade stainless steel pin as a static partner was employed. Further, polarized light optical and scanning electron microscopes (SEM) were utilized for a morphological analysis. Elastic modulus and strength were determined by a compression test. A result analysis is conducted to analyze sliding wear accompanied with minor abrasion. The composites with a high percentage of reinforcement exhibit credible wear resistance and mechanical robustness.

Rapid and automated identification of blight disease in potato will help farmers to apply timely remedies to protect their *** detection of blight disease can be cumbersome and may require trained *** overcome these issues,we present an automated system using the Mask Region-based convolutional neural network(Mask R-CNN)architecture,with residual network as the backbone network for detecting blight disease patches on potato leaves in field *** approach uses transfer learning,which can generate good results even with small *** model was trained on a dataset of 1423 images of potato leaves obtained from fields in different geographical locations and at different times of the *** images were manually annotated to create over 6200 labeled patches covering diseased and healthy portions of the *** Mask R-CNN model was able to correctly differentiate between the diseased patch on the potato leaf and the similar-looking background soil patches,which can confound the outcome of binary *** improve the detection performance,the original RGB dataset was then converted to HSL,HSV,LAB,XYZ,and YCrCb color spaces.A separate model was created for each color space and tested on 417 field-based test *** yielded 81.4%mean average precision on the LAB model and 56.9%mean average recall on the HSL model,slightly outperforming the original RGB color space *** analysis of the detection performance indicates an overall precision of 98%on leaf images in a field environment containing complex backgrounds.

A mathematical model describing the dynamics of toxin producing phytoplankton- zooplankton interaction with instantaneous nutrient recycling is proposed. We have explored the dynamics of plankton ecosystem with multiple delays; one due to gestation period in the growth of phytoplankton population and second due to the delay in toxin liberated by TPP. It is established that a sequence of Hopf bifurcations occurs at the interior equilibrium as the delay increases through its critical value. The direction of the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are determined using the theory of normal form and center manifold. Meanwhile, effect of toxin on the stability of delayed plankton system is also established numerically. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to support and supplement the analytical findings.

CZTS(Cu_(2)ZnSnS_(4)),a P-type semiconductor with a direct bandgap(1.2-1.7eV),earth-abundant,non-toxic,and has a large absorption coefficient makes it extremely useful in optoelectronics and light-harvesting *** this work,CZTS is prepared by an ingenious,cost-effective colloidal route using the‘hotinjection’method with the usage of different *** XRD and Raman spectroscopy shows the single-phase highly crystalline CZTS nanoparticles with kesterite *** TEM results show that the size of CZTS nanoparticles is about 2-5 nm and monodispersity is confirmed by DLS(Dynamic Light Scattering).FTIR confirms the presence of different ligands used in CZTS *** Uv-vis absorption shows the direct bandgap of *** contact angle study shows the hydrophobic nature of as-synthesized CZTS nanoparticles which were further ligand exchanged with L-cysteine hydrochloride to make it hydrophilic to study the photocatalytic degradation activity of organic pollutants and industrial waste in the *** photocatalysis experiments were performed under two conditions:(i)under bare sunlight(Intensity~900 W/m^(2))(ii)focussing the sample under the sunlight via converging lens(1800 W/m^(2)).The photocatalytic efficiencies were then compared and the best photocatalytic efficiency achieved under sunlight was 98.4%for organic pollutants and 75%for industrial waste via converging lens while the corresponding efficiencies with bare sunlight were 98.1% and 73% *** the best of the author’s knowledge,a rapid and highly efficient photocatalysis of CZTS NPs employing a converging lens for water-remediation without the usage of noble&transition-metals has been reported for the first time.

Long pulse （of the order of 1000 s or more） SST-1 tokamak experiments demand a data acquisition system that is capable of acquiring data from various diagnostics channels without losing useful data （and hence physics information） while avoiding unnecessary generation of a large volume data. SST-1 Phase-1 tokamak operation has been envisaged with data acquisition of several essential diagnostics channels. These channels demand data acquisition at a sampling rate ranging from 1 kilo samples per second （KSPS） to 1 mega samples per second （MSPS）. Considering the technical characteristics and requirements of the diagnostics, a data acquisition system based on PXI and CAMAC has been developed for SST-1 plasma diagnostics. Both these data acquisition systems are scalable. Present data acquisition needs involving slow plasma diagnostics are catered by the PXI based data acquisition system. On the other hand, CAMAC data acquisition hardware meets all requirements of the SST-1 Phase-1 fast plasma diagnostics channels. A graphical user interface for both data acquisition systems （PXI and CAMAC） has been developed using LabVIEW application development software. The collected data on the local hard disk are directly streaming to the central server through a dedicated network for post-shot data analysis. This paper describes the development and integration of the data acquisition system for SST-1 Phase-1 plasma diagnostics. The integrated testing of the developed data acquisition system has been performed using SST-1 central control and diagnostics signal conditioning units. In the absence of plasma shots, the integrated testing of the data acquisition system for the initial diagnostics of SST-1 Phase-1 operation has been performed with simulated physical signals. The primary engineering objective of this integrated testing is to validate the performance of the developed data acquisition system under simulated conditions close to that of actual tokamak operation.
