The additive manufacturing of multi-principal element alloys has remarkable potential for industrial *** this study,a(CoCrNi)_(94)Al_(3)Ti_(3)medium-entropy alloy(MEA)w.th adequate strength-ductility synergy w.s prepared via laser pow.er bed *** microstructural evolution,mechanical property,and deformation mechanisms of the MEA w.re investigated after post annealing for a short period(0.5 h)at a temperature range of 773-1373 K using various microstructural characterization techniques and quantitative *** static recrystallization temperature of the(CoCrNi)_(94)Al_(3)Ti_(3)MEA ranged from 973 to 1073 *** average grain size first decreased and then increased,w.ile the dislocation den-sity persistently decreased and texture gradually w.akened w.th increasing annealing ***-richσ-phase precipitates formed after 1073 K and then gradually dissolved at 1373 K,w.ile Ni,Al,and Ti elements w.re aggregated to form a small amount of fine L1_(2)coherent precipitates w.th an aver-age diameter of approximately 70 nm at 1373 *** evolution of the dislocation density,grain size,and precipitates significantly influenced the propensity of deformation tw.ns and stacking faults,w.ich consequently affected the strain hardening behavior and mechanical *** quantitative calcu-lation of strengthening mechanisms show.d that dislocation strengthening played a dominant role at annealing temperatures below.1073 K,and it significantly w.akened at 1373 *** and grain boundary strengthening both markedly increased ow.ng to the formation of precipitation particles and recrystallization-induced grain refinement after annealing at 1073 K.

Cell sheet engineering has been proven to be a promising strategy for cardiac remodeling post-myocardial infarction. How.ver, insufficient mechanical strength and low.cell retention lead to limited therapeutic efficiency. The thickness and area of artificial cardiac patches also affect their therapeutic efficiency. Cardiac patches prepared by combining cell sheets w.th electrospun nanofibers, w.ich can be transplanted and sutured to the surface of the infarcted heart, promise to solve this problem. Here, w. fabricated a novel cardiac patch by stacking brow. adipose-derived stem cells (BADSCs) sheet layer by layer, and then they w.re combined w.th multi-w.lled carbon nanotubes (CNTs)-containing electrospun polycaprolactone/silk fibroin nanofibers (CPSN). The results demonstrated that BADSCs tended to generate myocardium-like structures seeded on CPSN. Compared w.th BADSCs suspension-containing electrospun nanofibers, the transplantation of the CPSN-BADSCs sheets (CNBS) cardiac patches exhibited accelerated angiogenesis and decreased inflammation in a rat myocardial infarction model. In addition, the CNBS cardiac patches could regulate macrophage polarization and promote gap junction remodeling, thus restoring cardiac functions. Overall, the hybrid cardiac patches made of electrospun nanofibers and cell sheets provide a novel solution to cardiac remodeling after ischemic myocardial infarction.

Optimizing protected areas to boost the conservation of key protected w.ldlife in China

To meet the challenge of biodiversity loss and reach the targets of the proposed post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framew.rk,the Chinese government updated the list of national key protected w.ldlife in 2021 and has been continually expanding the protected areas(PAs).How.ver,the status of protected w.ldlife in PAs remains *** this study,w. conducted a national assessment of the status of protected w.ldlife and suggested an optimization plan to overcome these *** 1988 to 2021,the number of protected species almost doubled,and the area of PAs increased by 2.4 times,covering over 92.8%of the protected ***,some protected species have less than 10%of their habitat included in *** the significant addition of amphibians and reptiles to the latest protection list,they are the few.st species and are the least covered by PAs compared w.th birds and *** fix these gaps,w. systematically optimized the current PAs netw.rk by adding another 10.0%of China’s land area as PAs,w.ich resulted in 37.6%coverage of protected species’habitats in *** addition,26 priority areas w.re *** research aimed to identify gaps in current conservation policies and suggest optimization solutions to facilitate w.ldlife conservation planning in *** general,updating the list of key protected w.ldlife species and systematically optimizing PA netw.rks are essential and applicable to other countries facing biodiversity loss.

Macro-micron-nano-featured surface topography of Ti-6Al-4V alloy for biomedical applications

One of the critical issues in the development of novel metallic biomaterials is the design and fabrication of metallic scaffolds and implants w.th hierarchical structures mimicking human bones. In this w.rk, selective laser melting(SLM) and electrochemical anodization w.re applied to fabricate dense Ti-6 A1-4 V components w.th macro-micron-nanoscale hierarchical surfaces. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM), 3 D laser scanning microscopy(3 D LSM), contact angle video system, fluorescence microscopy and spectrophotometer w.re used to investigate the properties of the samples. The results reveal that the SLMed post-anodization(SLM-TNT) exhibits enhanced or at least comparable w.ttability, protein adsorption and biological response of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) in comparison w.th the three reference configurations, i.e., the polished Ti-6 Al-4 V(PO-Ti64), the SLMed Ti-6 A1-4 V(SLM-Ti64) and the polished Ti-6 A1-4 V post-anodization(PO-TNT). The improved cytocompatibility of the samples after SLM and anodization should be mainly attributed to the nanoscale tubular features,w.ile the macro-micron-scale structures only lead to slight preference for cell attachment.

BACKGROUND Mortality rates after pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD)have significantly decreased in specialized ***,postoperative morbidity,particularly delayed gastric emptying(DGE),remains the most frequent complication follow.ng *** To identify risk factors associated w.th DGE after the PD *** In this retrospective,cross-sectional study,clinical data w.re collected from 114 patients w.o underw.nt PD betw.en January 2015 and June *** factors,pre-and perioperative characteristics,and surgical complications w.re *** and multivariate analyses w.re performed to identify risk factors for post-PD *** The study included 66 males(57.9%)and 48 females(42.1%),aged 33-83 years(mean:62.5),w.th a male-to-female ratio of approximately 1.4:*** w.re 63 cases(55.3%)of PD and 51 cases(44.7%)of pylorus-preserving *** the 114 patients w.o underw.nt PD,33(28.9%)developed postoperative *** analysis revealed significant differences in four of the 14 clinical indexes observed:pylorus preservation,retrocolonic anastomosis,postoperative abdominal complications,and early postoperative albumin(ALB).Logistic regression analysis further identified postoperative abdominal complic-ations[odds ratio(OR)=4.768,P=0.002],preoperative systemic diseases(OR=2.516,P=0.049),and early postoperative ALB(OR=1.195,P=0.003)as significant risk *** postoperative severe abdominal complications,preoperative systemic diseases,and early postoperative ALB are identified as risk factors for post-PD DGE.

“Omics” in pharmaceutical research: overview. applications, challenges, and future perspectives

In the post-genomic era, biological studies are characterized by the rapid development and w.de application of a series of "omics" technologies, including genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, transcriptomics, lipidomics, cytomics, metallomics, ionomics, interactomics, and phenomics. These "omics" are often based on global analyses of biological samples using high through-put analytical approaches and bioinformatics and may provide new.insights into biological phenomena. In this paper, the development and advances in these omics made in the past decades are review.d, especially genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics; the applications of omics technologies in pharmaceutical research are then summarized in the fields of drug target discovery, toxicity evaluation, personalized medicine, and traditional Chinese medicine; and finally, the limitations of omics are discussed, along w.th the future challenges associated w.th the multi-omics data processing, dynamics omics analysis, and analytical approaches, as w.ll as amenable solutions and future prospects.

mRNA stability in the nucleus

Eukaryotic gene expression is controlled by different levels of biological events, such as transcription factors regulating the timing and strength of transcripts production, alteration of transcription rate by RNA processing, and mRNA stability during RNA processing and translation. RNAs, especially mRNAs, are relatively vulnerable molecules in living cells for ribonucleases （RNases）. The maintenance of quality and quantity of transcripts is a key issue for many biological processes. Extensive studies draw.the conclusion that the stability of RNAs is dedicated-regulated, occurring co- and post-transcriptionally, and translation-coupled as w.ll, either in the nucleus or cytoplasm. Recently, RNA stability in the nucleus has aroused much research interest, especially the stability of new.y-made transcripts. In this article, w. summarize recent progresses on mRNA stability in the nucleus, especially focusing on quality control of new.y-made RNA by RNA polymerase Ⅱ in eukaryotes.

Maize-soybean relay cropping increases soybean yield synergistically by extending the post-anthesis leaf stay-green period and accelerating grain filling

Relay cropping of Poaceae and Fabaceae promotes high yield and land-use efficiency by allow.ng a double ***,it is difficult to increase yield synergistically because of the reduced photosynthetic abilities of legume leaves under the shade of *** photosynthetic capacity in relay cropping systems is associated w.th ecological niche differentiation and photosynthetic compensation after restoration of normal *** conducted a field experiment in southw.st China in 2020–2021 to evaluate the effects of three cropping patterns:maize–soybean relay cropping(IMS),monoculture maize(MM),and monoculture soybean(SS),and N application levels:no N application(NN:0 kg N ha^(−1)),reduced N(RN:180 kg N ha^(−1)),and conventional N(CN:240 kg N ha^(−1)).Compared to monocropping,relay cropping increased the stay-green traits of maize and soybean by 13%and 89%,*** cropping prolonged the leaf stay-green duration in the maize and soybean lag phase by almost 4 and 8 days,*** cropping maize(IM)increased the leaf area index(LAI)by 79.4%to 88.5%under NN and 55.5%to 148%under *** cropping soybean(IS)increased the LAI from 115%to 437%at days 40 to 50 after *** increased yield by 65.6%.IS increased yield by 9.7%.HI and system yield w.re at their highest values under *** the relay cropping system,reduced N application extended green leaf duration,increased photosynthesis inside the canopy at multiple levels,ultimately increases soybean yield synergistically.

The fractions of post-binary-interaction stars and evolved blue straggler stars on the red giant branch of globular clusters
