Thermoelectric(TE)generators capable of converting thermal energy into applicable electricity have gained great popularity among emerging energy conversion ***-based ionic thermoelectric(i-TE)materials are promising candidates for energy conversion systems because of their wide sources,innocuity,and low manufacturing ***,common physically crosslinked biopolymer gels induced by single hydrogen bonding or hydrophobic interaction suffer from low differential thermal voltage and poor thermodynamic ***,we develop a novel i-TE gel with supramolecular structures through multiple noncovalent interactions between ionic liquids(ILs)and gelatin molecular *** thermopower and thermoelectric power factor of the ionic gels are as high as 2.83 mV K-1 and 18.33μW m^(-1)K^(-2),*** quasi-solid-state gelatin-[EMIM]DCA i-TE cells achieve ultrahigh 2 h output energy density(E_(2h)=9.9 mJ m^(-2))under an optimal temperature ***,the remarkable stability of the supramolecular structure provides the i-TE hydrogels with a thermal stability of up to 80℃.It breaks the limitation that biopolymer-based i-TE gels can only be applied in the low temperature range and enables biopolymer-based i-TE materials to pursue better performance in a higher temperature range.

Hot ductility of Ti-V bearing steel was studied by theoretical calculation and thermal simulation experi ment. Meanwhile, microsegregation and precipitates were analyzed. The results showed that elements S, Ti and O were enriched at the grain boundaries, while the hot ductility was deteriorated by inclusions of （Fe, Mn, Si, Al）（S, O） in the interdendritic region. At tbe temperature of 1 100℃, large TiN particles had little effect on hot ductility. In the temperature range from 975 to 925 ℃, reduction of area （R. A） declined rapidly from 81. 88% to 63.16% with the size of particles decreasing from 40 to 20 nm and quantity increasing from 1.4 to 11.9 μm 2, respectively. In the temperature range from 875 to 825℃, R. A reduced unobviously from 35.14% to 28.6% with ferric films thickening gradually. The critical stress, 88.79 MPa, was equal to tensile strength at 825℃. Intergranular fracture was easy to occur with higher critical stress below 825℃.

On the basis of the practical production of non-oriented silicon steel, the formation of Mg O·Al2O3 inclusions was analyzed in the process of ＂basic oxygen furnace（BOF） → RH → compact strip production（CSP）＂. The thermodynamic and kinetic conditions of the formation of Mg O·Al2O3 inclusions were discussed, and the behavior of slag entrapment in molten steel during RH refining was simulated by computational fluid dynamics（CFD） software. The results showed that the Mg O/Al2O3 mass ratio was in the range from 0.005 to 0.017 and that Mg O·Al2O3 inclusions were not observed before the RH refining process. In contrast, the Mg O/Al2O3 mass ratio was in the range from 0.30 to 0.50, and the percentage of Mg O·Al2O3 spinel inclusions reached 58.4% of the total inclusions after the RH refining process. The compositions of the slag were similar to those of the inclusions; furthermore, the critical velocity of slag entrapment was calculated to be 0.45 m·s^-1 at an argon flow rate of 698 L·min^-1, as simulated using CFD software. When the test steel was in equilibrium with the slag, [Mg] was 0.00024wt%–0.00028wt% and [Al]s was 0.31wt%–0.37wt%; these concentrations were theoretically calculated to fall within the Mg O·Al2O3formation zone, thereby leading to the formation of Mg O·Al2O3 inclusions in the steel. Thus, the formation of Mg O·Al2O3 inclusions would be inhibited by reducing the quantity of slag entrapment, controlling the roughing slag during casting, and controlling the composition of the slag and the Mg O content in the ladle refractory.

A facile, efficient and green photochemical synthetic approach has been used to prepare sponge-like porous Pd nanoparticles. Obtained by ultraviolet irradiation using a K2PdCl4 precursor solution, the final products exhibited three dimensionally interconnected porous structures made up of ~3.6 nm sized Pd nanoparticles. In situ liquid cell TEM results indicated such porous structures are in a dynamic stable state when the particles are distributed in aqueous solution. The porous Pd nanoparticles exhibited electrochemical active surface area (ECSA) of up to 43 m^2·g^–1 and mass activity of 1144 mA·mg^–1 in menthol oxidation, kapp of 0.22 min^–1 and normalized kapp/m (kn) of 8.3×10^4 min^–1·g^-1 in 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) reduction reactions. Comparing with the literature, it is demonstrated that our porous Pd nanoparticles with clean surfaces exhibited very high catalytic performances. This work may shed a light on facile and green synthesis of noble-metal particles with better catalytic performances.

We investigate the electronic structures and phase stability of ZnO, CdO and the related alloys in rocksalt（B1）and wurzite（B4） crystal, using the first-principle density functional theory within the hybrid functional approximation. By varying the concentration of Zn components from 0% to 100%, we find that the Zn_xCd（1-x）O alloy undergoes a phase transition from octahedron to tetrahedron at x = 0.32, in agreement with the recent experimental findings. The phase transition leads to a mutation of the electron mobility originated from the changes of the effective mass. Our results qualify Zn O/Cd O alloy as an attractive candidate for photo-electrochemical and solar cell power applications.

Based on the production practice of medium carbon thin slabs in the CSP plant,the reasons and influencing factors for the formation of longitudinal cracks were investigated,and some industrial measures were taken to eliminate the *** results show that the efficient solutions to reduce longitudinal cracks are improving the performance of the mold powder,stabilizing the mold heat flux,and maintaining a proper taper of the mold during *** pouring temperature and secondary cooling also play important roles in preventing longitudinal surface cracks.

Electrically conductive elastomer composites(CECs)with segregated networks of conductive nanofillers show high potential in stretchable strain sensors due to balanced mechanical and electrical properties,yet the sensitivity at low strain is generally insufficient for practical ***,we report an easy and effective way to improve the resistive response to low strain for CECs with segregated network structure via adding stiff alumina into carbon nanostructures(CNS).The CEC containing 0.7 wt%CNS and 5 wt%Al_(2)O_(3) almost sustains the same elasticity(elongation at break of~900%)and conductivity(0.8 S/m)as the control,while the piezoresistive sensitivity is significantly *** polyurethane(TPU)composites with a segregated network of hybrid nanofillers(CNS and Al_(2)O_(3))show much higher strain sensitivity(Gauge factor,GF-566)at low strain(45%strain)due to a local stress concentration effect,this sensitivity is superior to that of TPU/CNS composites(GF-11).Such a local stress concentration effect depends on alumina content and its distribution at the TPU particle *** addition,CECs with hybrid fillers show better reproducibility in cyclic piezoresistive behavior testing than the *** work offers an easy method for fabricating CECs with a segregated filler network offering stretchable strain sensors with a high strain sensitivity.

Effect of oxidation treatment on the adsorption and the stability of mercury on activated carbon

Oxidation treatment on the adsorption and the stability of Hg on activated carbon （AC） was inrestigated. Both MnO2-AC and FeCl3-AC were produced during oxidation treatment. The measurement of modified AC＇s mercury adsorption capacity was conducted in a simulated coal-fired flue gas by adsorbing test apparatus. TCLP and column leaching methods were used to test the stability of mercury adsorbed on ACs. The results indicate that the oxidation treatment changed the pore structure of the AC and modified the carbon surface by creating chemical components such as MnO4^-, Mn^4＋, O, NO^3-, Fe^3＋, Cl^-, etc. The Hg sorption capacity on MnO2-AC or FeCl3-AC was about three times higher than that of untreated carbon. In addition, the mercury control cost of each of the formers was about the half cost of the untreated carbon. The stability of Hg absorption was studied, it found that mercury adsorbed on the oxidation treated AC was not better than that of untreated carbon. It could concluded that the insoluble form of Hg is very important to the stability of mercury adsorbed on AC. This study suggests that the FeCl3-AC is the best absorbent for Hg with high adsorption capacity, better Hg adsorption stability in leaching environment, and lower cost among the three ACs tested.
