Treatment of patients with multiple brain metastases by isolated radiosurgery:Toxicity and survival

BACkGROUNd Radiosurgery for multiple brain metastases has been more reported recently without using whole-brain ***,the sparsity of the data still claims more information about toxicity and survival and their association with both dosimetric and geometric aspects of this *** To assess the toxicity and survival outcome of radiosurgery in patients with multiple(four or more lesions)brain *** In a single institution,data were collected retrospectively from patients who underwent radiosurgery to treat brain metastases from diverse primary *** with 4-21 brain metastases were treated with a single fraction with a dose of 18 Gy or 20 *** clinical variables collected were relevant to toxicity,survival,treatment response,planning,and dosimetric *** Spearman’s rank correlation coefficients,Mann-Whitney test,kruskal-Wallis test,and Log-RESULTS From August 2017 to February 2020,55 patients were *** was the most common complaint(38.2%).The median overall survival(OS)for patients with karnofsky performance status(kPS)>70 was 8.9 mo,and this was 3.6 mo for those with kPS≤70(P=0.047).Patients with treated lesions had a median progression-free survival of 7.6 *** were no differences in OS(19.7 vs 9.5 mo)or progression-free survival(10.6 vs 6.3 mo)based on prior *** was no correlation found between reported toxicities and planning,dosimetric,and geometric variables,implying that no additional significant toxicity risks appear to be added to the treatment of multiple(four or more)*** No associations were found between the evaluated toxicities and the planning dosimetric parameters,and no differences in survival rates were detected based on previous treatment status.

The vibron dressing in α-helicoidal macromolecular chains

We present a study of the physical properties of the vibrational excitation in α-helicoidal macromolecular chains, caused by the interaction with acoustical and optical phonon modes. The influence of the temperature and the basic system parameters on the vibron dressing have been analyzed by employing the simple mean-field approach based on the variational extension of the Lang-Firsov unitary transformation. The applied approach predicts a region in system parameter space where one has an abrupt transition from a partially dressed （light and mobile） to a fully dressed （immobile） vibron state. We found that the boundary of this region depends on system temperature and the type of bond among structural elements in the macromolecular chain.

Background: dengue is a Neglected tropical disease (NTds) with high incidence in Brazil. This disease is caused by dengue virus and is transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquito. The search for new approaches for controlling of this disease is the subject of numerous studies. The aaNAT is a key enzyme in the metabolism of A. aegypti and is crucial in the sclerotization process, as well as regulation of circadian rhythm and inactivation of neurotransmitters. Computational techniques applied to studies of biological systems become an effective weapon in the mapping and management of 3d data structures, giving direction and guidance of potential ligands that can form stable complexes with targets of interest, using a Molecular docking approach. The present study was conducted by a virtual screening, followed by docking calculations, in order to find molecules that could inhibit aaNAT. In this study, we used available compounds in SAM database (Bioinformatics and Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory—Southwest Bahia State University, Jequié-Bahia, Brazil), PubChem and ZINC. Results: The result of dockings with selected ligands showed good energy affinities, presenting potential inhibitory interactions with the enzyme active site. Conclusions: The Coa-S-acetyl-tryptamine and 3-indoleacriloil-coenzyme-A showed the same binding energies -8.9 kcal/Mol and were described as possible inhibitors of aaNAT.

Microalbuminuria and kidney disease Risk in HIV Patients Taking Combined Antiretroviral Therapy

Objectives: This study proposes to evaluate risk factors for kidney disease in HIV patients treated chronically and correlate with microalbuminuria measurements. Methods: Review charts and analyses of microalbuminuria in subgroup of HIV patients treated at Ceara/Brazil. Results: 149 patients, 69.1% male, mean 38.5 years old, infection mean 86.8 months. Mean Creatinine Clearance 110.2%, Creatinine 0.97, Urea 27.76 mg/dl, Cd4+ 600.37 cels/mm3 and detectable viral load 530.59 copies with 61.7% undetectable. Mean dosages of microalbuminuria/24h 147, 46 ± 820, 45 (N = 48) and microalbuminuria (mg/dl) 32.05 ± 85.25 (N = 43). kidney diseases Classification analyses evidenced 6.4% patients in stages ≥3 and 6.2% presented altered Microalbuminuria/24h. Patients using Tenofovir (TdF) 27.27% had Stage 2 and protease inhibitors (PI) had 4.1% in Stage 3. Proteinuria was observed in 5% stage ≥3. Association PI/TdF had 4.1% in Stage 3. No statistical difference between Cd4 > or 3 and microalbuminuria/24h > 300 mg (p = 0.69);detectable/undetectable viral load and microalbuminuria/24h (p = 0.63) or stage ≥3 (p = 0.17);relation to diabetes or arterial hypertension and microalbuminuria 24 h (p = 0.5 and p = 0.21);relation stage ≥3 and microalbuminuria/24h (p = 0.33);relation HIV diagnoses >/d stage ≥3 (p = 0.51);or microalbuminuria/24h and TdF (p = 0.4), PI (p = 1), TdF/PI (p = 0.69), Atazanavir (p = 0.4) or Lopinavir/r (p = 1) regimens. There was statistical significance comparing age > or or d microalbuminuria/24h (p = 0.55) or microalbuminuria mg/d (p = 0.32). Relating comorbidities risk (diabetes Mellitus plus Systemic Arterial Hypertension) to kidney diseases, it was found that 55.5% patients in Stage 3 or above with comorbidities compared with 15% with comorbidities in lower stages (P = 0.005). Effects of Sodium Citrate plus Sodium diacetate and Buffered vinegar on Quality Attributes of Enhanced Beef Top Rounds

The effect of two antimicrobials in the enhancement solution was investigated in this study. Sensory and shelf-life characteristics were measured for beef top rounds enhanced to 110% with 0.5% sodium chloride and 0.4% sodium tripolyphosphate (CNT);CNT with a 1% solution of 80% sodium citrate plus 20% sodium diacetate (SC + d);or CNT with 2% buffered vinegar (vin) in the final product. SC + d and vin had less (P 0.05). However, SC + d had lower (P 0.05) for all enhancement solutions within each day. After 7 days of retail display, SC + d retarded (P d oxidation to a greater extent than vin or CNT samples. Sodium citrate plus sodium diacetate or buffered vinegar may be included in enhancement solutions without having a large influence on subjective color, and may aid in improving sensory tenderness.

[目的]研究苯肾上腺素对放射损伤早期大鼠颌下腺MHCⅠ类分子表达的影响。[方法]Wistar大鼠27只,随机分为空白对照组、单纯照射组及照射给药组(腹腔注射苯肾上腺素5 mg/kg,2次/d),以直线加速器对大鼠颌下腺区域行20 Gy照射。照射后7 d取颌下腺组织,采用免疫组织化学法检测颌下腺MHCⅠ类分子的定位与表达;半定量逆转录聚合酶链法(reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction,RT-PCR)检测颌下腺MHCⅠmRNA的表达。[结果]免疫组织化学结果显示:MHCⅠ类分子表达在空白对照组主要在颌下腺腺泡细胞及导管细胞的胞浆和胞膜;单纯照射组在腺泡细胞胞膜及细胞间质的表达较空白对照组增加;而苯肾上腺素连续给药组在腺泡细胞膜及间质的表达较单纯照射组显著减少。RT-PCR结果显示:单纯照射组MHCⅠmRNA的表达较空白对照组增加了45.85%(P<0.05),而苯肾上腺素连续给药组MHCⅠmRNA的表达较单纯照射组减少了33.88%(P<0.05)。[结论]苯肾上腺素能够下调放射线照射损伤所致大鼠颌下腺MHCⅠ类分子的表达。

We investigate the properties of the excess charge(electron, hole) introduced into a two-strand biomolecule. We consider the possibility that the stable soliton excitation can be formed due to interaction of excess charge with the phonon subsystem. The influence of overlap of the molecular orbitals between adjacent structure elements of the macromolecular chain on the soliton properties is discussed. Special attention is paid to the influence of the overlapping of the molecular orbitals between structure elements placed on the different chains. Using the literature values of the basic energy parameters of the two-chain biomolecular structures, possible types of soliton solutions are discussed.

Recent research has demonstrated that critically ill patients with coronavirus disease 2019(COVId-19)show significant immune system *** to that,some nutrients that influence immunomodulation have been suggested as a form of treatment against the *** review collected the information on the impact of vitamins on the prognosis of COVId-19,with the intention of facilitating treatment and prevention of the disease risk status in *** collected information was obtained using the PubMed electronic database by searching for articles that relate COVId-19 and the mechanisms/effects of the nutrients:Proteins,glucose,lipids,vitamin B12,vitamin d,calcium,iron,copper,zinc,and magnesium,including prospective,retrospective,and support *** findings reveal an optimal response related mainly to omega-3,eicosapentaenoic acid,docosahexaenoic acid,calcium,and iron that might represent benefits in the treatment of critically ill ***,nutrient supplementation should be done with caution due to the limited availability of randomized controlled studies.
