Phase change materials(PCMs)play a leading role in overcoming the growing need of advanced thermal management for the storage and release of thermal energy which is to be used for different solar ***,the effectiveness of PCMs is greatly affected by their poor thermal ***,in the present review the progress made in deploying the graphene(Gr)in PCMs in the last decade for providing the solution to the aforementioned inadequacy is presented and discussed in *** and its derivatives((Gr oxide(GO),Gr aerogel(GA)and Gr nanoplatelets(GNPs))based PCMs can improve the thermal conductivity and shape stability,which may be attributed to the extra ordinary thermo-physical properties of ***,it is expected from this review that the advantages and disadvantages of using Gr nanoparticles provide a deep insight and help the researchers in finding out the exact basic properties and finally the applications of Gr can be *** this work,Gr and its derivatives based PCMs was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),X-ray diffraction spectroscopy(XRD),and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)by which crystal structure was known,phase was identified along with the knowledge of surface structure *** increase in the mass fraction(%)of the filler(Gr and its derivatives)led to even better thermo-physical properties and thermal *** thermal characterization was also done by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),thermo gravimetric analysis(TGA)and thermal conductivity *** enthalpy of freezing and melting showed that Gr and its derivatives based PCMs had a very high energy storage capability as reflected in its various applications.

Numerical Investigation of Convective Heat Transfer and Friction in Solar Air Heater with Thin Ribs

The three-dimensional numerical investigation of an incompressible flow through rib roughened solar air heater is carried out.A combination of thin transverse and truncated ribs is attached on the absorber plate to study its effect on the heat transfer and friction *** parameters in the form of Reynolds number(Re)of 4000-16000,relative roughness pitch(P/e)of 8-18 and relative roughness height(e/Dh)of 0.0366-0.055 is considered for the *** CFD code ANSYS FLUENT is used to solve the governing equations of turbulent *** RNG k-εturbulence model is used to solve the transport equations with enhanced wall treatment,keeping the Y+vestigation on average heat transfer,friction factor and flow structures have been discussed.

The present work is focusing on the synthesization and physico-chemical properties of Jatropha curcas biodiesel with diesel and *** densities of binary diesel(2)+1-alkanols(C_(3) or C_(4))(3)and ternary Jatropha curcas biodiesel(1)+diesel(2)+1-alkanols(C_(3)or C_(4))(3)blends have been reported over full range of composition at temperatures within range 288.15 to 313.15 *** densities of Jatropha curcas biodiesel(1)+diesel or 1-alkanols(C_(3) or C_(4))(2)blends have been measured at 313.15 *** molar volumes,v^E,v^E_(123)of binary and ternary blends were calculated from the measured data and the derived properties were correlated to composition using Redlich-kister equation.A reasonable agreement was found between the measured and estimated ***,densities and excess molar volumes data were reasoned to discuss molecular interactions taking into consideration effect of composition and temperature.

In the recent decade,a significant increase in the penetration level of renewable energy sources(RESs)into the distribution grid is evident due to the world’s shift towards clean energy and to increase the reliability or inboard manner resiliency of electrical distribution *** based microgrids are the most favorable option available,especially to enhance ***,the integration of RES over the distribution grid would hamper the grid stability due to its stochastic nature under normal *** extreme weather conditions,RES behavior is completely *** there is a need to eliminate the adverse effects caused by the RES and make the distribution grid more reliable and stable under normal and resilient *** address these issues,many researchers proposed several methods to place energy storage units(ESUs)and microgrids(RES integrated),which can support critical loads at an optimal location in the distribution system during normal and extreme conditions,*** aim of this article is to consolidate and review the research towards various approaches to formulate the problem(optimal location,allocation,and operation of ESU and microgrids to face regular and extreme weather condition)and tools to solve it for enhanced system flexibility and *** on the review,a generalized methodology has been designed to adapt the inputs and address both *** the end of the review,future aspects for ESU to strengthen resistance and resiliency of its own are presented,which can be helpful to further improve the reliability and resiliency of the distribution system.

The present study focuses on the analysis of free vibrations of axisymmetric functionally graded hollow spheres. The material is assumed to be graded in radial di- rection with a simple power law. Matrix Frrbenious method of extended power series is employed to derive the analytical solutions for displacement, temperature, and stresses. The dispersion relations for the existence of various types of pos- sible modes of vibrations in the considered hollow sphere are derived in a compact form. In order to explore the character- istics of vibrations, the secular equations are further solved by using fixed point iteration numerical technique with the help of MATLAB software. The numerical results have been presented graphically for polymethyl methecrylate materials in respect of natural frequencies, frequency shift, inverse quality factor, displacement, temperature change, and radial stress.

Numerical and analytical investigations of thermosolutal instability in rotating Rivlin-Ericksen fluid in porous medium with Hall current

Numerical and analytical investigations of the thermosolutal instability in a viscoelastic Rivlin-Ericksen fluid are carried out in the presence of a uniform vertical magnetic field to include the Hall current with a uniform angular velocity in a porous medium. For stationary convection, the stable solute gradient parameter and the rota- tion have stabilizing effects on the system, whereas the magnetic field and the medium permeability have stabilizing or destabilizing effects on the system under certain condi- tions. The Hall current in the presence of rotation has stabilizing effects for sufficiently large Taylor numbers, whereas in the absence of rotation, the Hall current always has destabilizing effects. These effects have also been shown graphically. The viscoelastic effects disappear for stationary convection. The stable solute parameter, the rotation, the medium permeability, the magnetic field parameter, the Hall current, and the vis- coelasticity introduce oscillatory modes into the system, which are non-existent in their absence. The sufficient conditions for the non-existence of overstability are also obtained.

Snow Cover variation and Streamflow Simulation in a Snow-fed River Basin of the Northwest Himalaya

Snowmelt is an important component of any snow-fed river *** Jhelum River is one such transnational mountain river flowing through India and *** basin is minimally glacierized and its discharge is largely governed by seasonal snow cover and ***,accurate estimation of seasonal snow cover dynamics and snowmeltinduced runoff is important for sustainable water resource management in the *** present study looks into spatio-temporal variations of snow cover for past decade and stream flow simulation in the Jhelum River *** cover extent(SCE) was estimated using MODIS(Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer) sensor *** Difference Snow Index(NDSI) algorithm was used to generate multi-temporal time series snow cover *** results indicate large variation in snow cover distribution pattern and decreasing trend in different sub-basins of the Jhelum *** relationship between SCE-temperature,SCE-discharge and discharge-precipitation was analyzed for different seasons and shows strong *** streamflow simulation of the entire Jhelum basin Snow melt Runoff Model(SRM) used.A good correlation was observed between simulated stream flow and in-situ *** monthly discharge contribution from different sub-basins to the total discharge of the Jhelum River was estimated using a modified version of runoff model based on temperature-index approach developed for small *** power - an indicator of the erosive capability of streams was also calculated for different sub-basins.

Instability of binary nanofluids with magnetic field

The present paper investigates the effects of a vertical magnetic field on the double diffusive nanofluid convection, The effects of the Brownian motion and ther- mophoresis due to the presence of nanoparticles and the effects of the Dufour and Sorer parameters due to the presence of solute are included in the investigated model. The normal mode technique is used to solve the conservation equations. For the analytical study, valid approximations are made in the complex expression for the Rayleigh number to get useful and interesting results. The bottom heavy binary nanofluids are more stable than the regular binary fluids, while the top heavy binary nanofluids are less stable than the regular binary fluids. The critical wave number and the critical Rayleigh number in- crease whereas the frequency of oscillation （for the bottom heavy configuration） decreases when the Chandrasekhar number increases. The numerical results for the alumina-water nanofiuid are studied by use of the MATHEMATICA software.
