This paper analyzes the heat and mass transfer characteristics on mixed convective fully developed flow in an electrically conducting Newtonian fluid between vertical parallel *** chemical reaction,heat generation,Hall and ion-slip effects are taken into *** using similarity transformations the nonlinear governing equations are reduced into dimensionless form and hence solved using Adomian decomposition method(ADM).The influence of magnetic parameter,Hall parameter,ion-slip parameter,chemical reaction parameter,and heat generation/absorption parameter on non-dimensional velocities,temperature and concentration profiles are exhibited *** addition,the numerical data for skin friction,heat and mass transfer rates are shown in tabular form.

Biomass derived vegetable oils are quite promising alternative fuels for agricultural diesel *** of vegetable oils in diesel engines leads to slightly inferior performance and higher smoke emissions due to their high *** performance of vegetable oils can be improved by modifying them through the transesterification *** this present work,the performance of single cylinder water-cooled diesel engine using methyl-ester of Jatropha oil as the fuel was evaluated for its performance and exhaust *** fuel properties of biodiesel such as kinematic viscosity,calorific value,flash point,carbon residue and specific gravity were *** indicate that B25 has closer performance to diesel and B100 has lower brake thermal efficiency mainly due to its high viscosity compared to *** brake thermal efficiency for biodiesel and its blends was found to be slightly higher than that of diesel fuel at tested load conditions and there was no difference of efficiency between the biodiesel and its blended *** Jatropha biodiesel and its blended fuels,the exhaust gas temperature increased with the increase of power and amount of ***,its diesel blends showed reasonable efficiencies,lower smoke,CO_(2),CO and HC emissions.

GPS radio occultation（GPS RO） method,an active satellite-to-satellite remote sensing technique,is capable of producing accurate,all-weather,round the clock,global refractive index,density,pressure,and temperature profiles of the troposphere and *** study presents planetary-scale equatorially trapped kelvin waves in temperature profiles retrieved using COSMIC（Constellation Observing System for Meteorology,Ionosphere,and Climate） satellites during 2006-2009 and their interactions with background atmospheric *** is found that the kelvin waves are not only associated with wave periods of higher than 10 days（slow kelvin waves） with higher zonal wave numbers（either 1 or 2）,but also possessing downward phase progression,giving evidence that the source regions of them are located at lower altitudes.A thorough verification of outgoing longwave radiation（OLR） reveals that deep convection activity has developed regularly over the Indonesian region,suggesting that the kelvin waves are driven by the convective *** derived kelvin waves show enhanced（diminished） tendencies during westward（eastward） phase of the quasi-biennial oscillation（QBO） in zonal winds,implying a mutual relation between both of *** El Nino and Southern Oscillation（ENSO） below 18 km and the QBO features between 18 and 27km in temperature profiles are observed during May 2006-May 2010 with the help of an adaptive data analysis technique known as Hilbert Huang Transform（HHT）.Further,temperature anomalies computed using COSMIC retrieved temperatures are critically evaluated during different phases of ENSO,which has revealed interesting results and are discussed in light of available literature.

Quality of Service is an important attribute of a software system. In retrospect, performance assessment based on user interaction with the system has given a better understanding of underlying disciplines of the product. In this paper, we capture user interaction with the prototype/User Interface (UI). An approach for developing activity model from the user interface model is presented using workflows and functional elements. A methodology is proposed to transform UI into activity diagram. The approach is validated by an experimental setup using Amazon service. The performance of Amazon service is assessed using activity based performance prediction methodology, and the simulation results are obtained using SMTQA.

The effect of coupling between sloshing and ship motions in the evaluation of slosh-induced interior pressures is studied. The coupling between sloshing loads and ship motions is modelled through a hybrid algorithm which combines a potential flow solution based on transient Green function for the external ship hydrodynamics with a viscous flow solution based on a multiphase interface capturing volume of fluid(VOF) technique for the interior sloshing motion. The coupled algorithm accounts for full nonlinear slosh forces while the external forces on the hull are determined through a blended scheme of linear radiationdiffraction with nonlinear Froude-krylov and restoring forces. Consideration of this level of nonlinearities in ship motions is found to have non-negligible effects on the slosh-coupled responses and slosh-induced loads. A scheme is devised to evaluate the statistical measure of the pressures through long-duration simulation studies in extreme irregular waves. It is found that coupling significantly influences the tank interior pressures, and the differences in the pressures between coupled and uncoupled cases can be as much as 100% or more. To determine the rao over the frequency range needed for the simulation studies in irregular waves, two alternative schemes are proposed, both of which require far less computational time compared to the conventional method of finding rao at each frequency, and the merits of these are discussed.

Using the World Meteorological Organization definition and a threshold-based classification technique,simulations of vortex displacement and split sudden stratospheric warmings(SSWs)are evaluated for four Chinese models(BCC-CSM2-MR,FGOALS-f3-L,FGOALS-g3,and NESM3)from phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP6)with the Japanese 55-year reanalysis(JRA-55)as a *** with six or seven SSWs in a decade in JRA-55,three models underestimate the SSW frequency by~50%,while NESM3 doubles the SSW *** mainly appear in midwinter in JRA-55,but one-month climate drift is simulated in the *** composite of splits is stronger than displacements in both the reanalysis and most models due to the longer pulse of positive eddy heat flux before onset of split SSWs.A wavenumber-1-like temperature anomaly pattern(cold Eurasia,warm North America)before onset of displacement SSWs is simulated,but cold anomalies are mainly confined to North America after displacement *** the lower tropospheric temperature also displays a wavenumber-1-like pattern before split SSWs,most parts of Eurasia and North America are covered by cold anomalies after split SSWs in *** models have different degrees of fidelity for the temperature anomaly pattern before split SSWs,but the wavenumber-2-like temperature anomaly pattern is well simulated after split *** center of the negative height anomalies in the Pacific sector before SSWs is sensitive to the SSW type in both JRA-55 and the models.A negative North Atlantic Oscillation is simulated after both types of SSWs in the models,although it is only observed for split SSWs.

Effect of 24-epibrassinolide and 28-homobrassinolide on the germination and seedling growth of radish (Raphanus sativus) subjected to water stress being imposed by 15% (w/v) polyethylene glycol (equivalent to -2.95 bars of osmotic pressure) was studied. Brassinosteroids supplementation reduced the inhibitory effect of water stress on seed germination and seedling growth. The growth stimulation in radish seedlings by brassinosteroids under desiccation stress was associated with elevated levels of nucleic acids and soluble proteins and lowered activities of RNase. The mitigation of osmotic stress imposed by PEG was associated with increased scavenging of reactive oxygen species as reflected in elevated activities of superoxide dismutase, catalase and ascorbate peroxidase. Brassinosteroids also enhanced the accumulation of the osmolyte free proline in radish seedlings challenged with drought stress. The two brassinosteroids also maintained membrane integrity under water deficiency conditions as indicated by lowered lipid peroxidation reflecting in reduced MDA content. The results of present study demonstrate the protective role of brassinosteroids against PEG imposed water stress in radish seedlings.

路面结构所承受的车轮反复荷载的强度和频率是影响路面使用寿命的主要因素之一。现今大多数货车发动机都能够运载超过法定最高载重量的载荷,货车业主和经营者也都倾向于车辆超载运营,以期在单位投资和人力成本下能够获得更多利润。为保证货车在大载重量的同时能够将轴载控制在合法范围内,现已设计出多轴货车,包括后双轴货车。本文就超载货车对印度卡纳塔克邦州州公路网(约4000公里)主要干道路面性能/寿命的影响展开研究。该研究通过轴载调查数据,针对两种不同情形计算车辆损害系数(VDF)。一是根据实地轴载数据大小分布情况;二是将超载单轴转化为双轴/等效标准轴。计算结果通过衰变模型和性能标准对路面性能/寿命进行预测分析,从而评估路面养护管理的益处。研究显示,货车的超载率非常高(主要是后轴超载),因此导致路面损害范围扩大,降低路面的使用寿命。从分析结果可以看出,双轴或者等效标准轴货车能减少路面超载,降低对路面损害程度。本文根据研究结果绘制了路面寿命/标准轴重复荷载的图表,以确定控制超载的益处。

Optical and structural properties of highly porous shell structured Fe doped TiO_2 thin films

TiO2thin films with 0.2 wt%, 0.4 wt%, 0.6wt%, and 0.8 wt% Fe were prepared on glass and silicon substrates using sol–gel spin coating technique. The optical cut-off points are increasingly red-shifted and the absorption edge is shifted over the higher wavelength region with Fe content increasing. As Fe content increases, the optical band gap decreases from 3.03 to 2.48 eV whereas the tail width increases from 0.26 to 1.43 eV. The X-ray diffraction（XRD） patterns for doped films at 0.2 wt% and0.8 wt% Fe reveal no characteristic peaks, indicating that the film is amorphous whereas undoped TiO2exhibits（101） orientation with anatase phase. Thin films of higher Fe content exhibit a homogeneous, uniform, and nanostructured highly porous shell morphology.

Withania somnifera recently categorized as threatened plant of Rajasthan and known for its high medicinal value has been studied for existing genetic variations in four accessions collected from four different locations. From the present studies it is apparent that the gametic number of W. somnifera is n = 24 and 2n = 48. From the combined information generated by present author and earlier workers, it is tentatively believed that W. somnifera might be of allopolyploid origin with basic number of x = 12. In this case also precocious separation of rod bivalents but not structural hetrozygosity might be the reason for occurrence of univalents. From the detailed meiotic analysis, it is concluded that the species diversification is brought out by polyploidy in W. somnifera. Multidisciplinary approach for genome diagnostics with use of various marker systems might through more light on existing intra-specific genetic variation in W. somnifera.
