Tuberculosis is one of the most contagious and lethal illnesses in the world,according to the World Health *** had the leading mortality rate as a result of a single infection,ranking above HIV/*** detection is an essential factor in patient treatment and can improve the survival *** methods should have high mobility,high accuracy,fast detection,and low *** work presents a novel biomedical photonic crystal fiber sensor,which can accurately detect and distinguish between the different types of tuberculosis *** designed sensor detects these types with high relative sensitivity and negligible losses compared to other photonic crystal fiber-based biomedical *** proposed sensor exhibits a relative sensitivity of 90.6%,an effective area of 4.342×10^(-8)m^(2),with a negligible confinement loss of 3.13×10^(-9)cm^(-1),a remarkably low effective material loss of 0.0132cm-f,and a numerical aperture of *** proposed sensor is capable of operating in the terahertz regimes over a wide range(1 THz-2.4 THz).An abbreviated review of non-optical detection techniques is also *** in-depth comparison between this work and recent related photonic crystal fiber-based literature is drawn to validate the efficacy and authenticity of the proposed design.

Human salivary histatin 1(Hst1)exhibits a series of cell-activating properties,such as promoting cell spreading,migration,and metabolic *** recently have shown that fluorescently labeled Hst1(F-Hst1)targets and activates mitochondria,presenting an important molecular ***,its regulating signaling pathways remain to be *** investigated the influence of specific inhibitors of G protein-coupled receptors(GPCR),endocytosis pathways,extracellular signal-regulated kinases1/2(ERk1/2)signaling,p38 signaling,mitochondrial respiration and Na+/k+-ATPase activity on the uptake,mitochondria-targeting and-activating properties of *** performed a si RNA knockdown(kD)to assess the effect of Sigma-2 receptor(S2R)/Transmembrane Protein 97(TMEM97)—a recently identified target protein of *** also adopted live cell imaging to monitor the whole intracellular trafficking process of *** results showed that the inhibition of cellular respiration hindered the internalization of *** inhibitors of GPCR,ERk1/2,phagocytosis,and clathrin-mediated endocytosis(CME)as well as siRNA kD of S2R/TMEM97 significantly reduced the uptake,which was accompanied by the nullification of the promoting effect of F-Hst1 on cell metabolic *** the inhibitor of CME and kD of S2R/TMEM97 significantly compromised the mitochondria-targeting of *** further showed the intracellular trafficking and targeting process of F-Hst1,in which early endosome plays an important ***,phagocytosis,CME,GPCR,ERk signaling,and S2R/TMEM97 are involved in the internalization of Hst1,while only CME and S2R/TMEM97 are critical for its subcellular *** inhibition of either internalization or mitochondria-targeting of Hst1 could significantly compromise its mitochondria-activating property.

Variation of vertical and horizontal drilling rates depending on some rock properties in the marble quarries

The main objective of this study is to determine the rates of vertically and horizontally oriented drilling processes in marble quarries and to observe the factors affecting the drilling rates in terms of physical and mechanical properties of the rocks. In situ drilling tests were performed in different marble quarries with different marble types and drilling times and penetration rates for a series of successive depthincrements were trying to be determined under vertically and horizontally oriented conditions. In order to understand the relation between the parameters that are investigated within the scope of this research, uniaxial compressive strength, Brazilian tensile strength, impact strength, Bohme abrasion strength, P-wave velocity, porosity, unit volume weight, Schmidt hardness index and brittleness index values were correlated with the drilling rates. It was noticed that the porosity and unit volume weight could be taken as the key parameters among them for obtaining meaningful correlation with drilling performance. It was also observed that the physical and mechanical rock properties are more relevant in vertical drilling than horizontal drilling.

Hyers-Ulam-Rassias Stability for the Heat Equation

In this paper we apply the Fourier transform to prove the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability for one dimensional heat equation on an infinite rod. Further, the paper investigates the stability of heat equation in ?with initial condition, in the sense of Hyers-Ulam-Rassias. We have also used Laplace transform to establish the modified Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of initial-boundary value problem for heat equation on a finite rod. Some illustrative examples are given.

Predicting the Mechanical Properties of BHA-Li2O Composites Using Artificial Neural Networks

In this study the mechanical properties of bovine hydroxyapatite (BHA)-Li2O composites are predicted using artificial neural networks (ANN) and then compared with obtained experimental values. BHA was mixed with lithium carbonate (Li2CO3) and sintered at various temperatures between 900-1300°C. Selected experimental values obtained for the compression strength, microhardness and density were used to define and train the ANN system. Intermediate data values not used to train the ANN model were then used to compare and determine the reliability of the ANN system. The results demonstrate the viable potential in using the ANN approach in predicting mechanical properties even with limited data sets.

River Water generally contains much lower suspended solids concentration, Bio-chemical Oxygen Demand and Chemical Oxygen Demand than industrial waste water. But even in river water treatment, electro-coagulation proves effective in removing up to 30% suspended solids with Fe electrode and up to 45% in case of Al electrode. The optimum current density for electro-coagulation was found to be around 70 A/m2 , optimum distance between electrodes was 10mm and optimum time for electro-coagulation of 1L sample was between 20-30min. The study showed that time, distance between electrodes and settling time were most important parameters for Al electrode and current density was most important parameter for Fe electrode. At lower current density, performance of Fe electrode was better than Al electrode. However, as current density and time was increased, performance of Al electrode was better. Hence, this experiment proves feasibility of electro-coagulation in suspended solids removal from river water.
